Dear Parents of Seniors,
Our Student Recognition Ads are an opportunity for you to congratulate seniors on your graduation. The
advertisements appear at the end of the yearbook and contain photos, messages, and congratulations. These
are an excellent way for family and friends to say “Good Job.”
We are hoping to make this year’s book even better by packing it full of colorful content and detailed stories
of the amazing students at FHS and setting a goal of including 100% of seniors in the book. Again this year,
our book is 100% student made and will show a year in the life of Framingham High School students.
There are two options for submission :
1. Do it For Me – Provide us with your photos & your message. This worry free method will
have the yearbook staff creating a beautifully designed parent recognition advertisement.
2. Doing it Myself – Build the ad on your own to the proper dimensions at 300dpi. Please
provide the fully finished ad as either a JPEG or a PDF file. Hint - If the terms dpi and JPG
are unfamiliar, this isn’t the option for you.

Instructions for Ad Submission
Building My Own Ad
Photos:
• Make sure that all photos that are
included are high quality. This
means photos taken with old
digital cameras or cell phones
should be avoided when possible.
Text:
• Take into account the size of your
ad when writing your message.
A large quantity of text in any
ad will end up being set in small
type which may not be easy to
read.
Build An Ad For Me
Files:
• Make sure that all files being
submitted are 300DPI, the
yearbook staff will not check for
quality. Files of lower quality will
reproduce poorly.
• Send files as .jpg only. If you do
not have the ability to send .jpg
files the yearbook staff will have
to convert files and the ad will
be charged as a “Build an Ad for
Me.”

• The words you want to include in
your ad are called “copy.” Please
print your copy legibly on the
ad order form, or you may type
or print it on a separate sheet
and attach it to the order form.
• We will choose a font/typeface
for the copy when we design your
ad. We will correct grammar,
punctuation and spelling errors
unless otherwise instructed.

term in Parent Ads, why not try
some of these:

Group your photos so that one photo is
significantly larger than the rest. This
will allow the focus to be on the best
photo and the others to help support it.
Too many large photos crowd each other
out and the text gets lost.
TEXT
When selecting that perfect font for your ad, remember that fonts with
very thin lines do not reproduce well. Decorative fonts should be used
for the big text and a more conservative font for the body. This will
maintain variety and legibility.

• Please use the highest quality images possible.
Images should be 300 DPI (resolution) or higher for
photographic quality.
• Please use color photos. We will convert to B&W as
needed.
• Preferred image file types .jpg.
• We can not accept copyrighted material such as cartoon
characters.
• Please DO NOT use Power Point or Microsoft Word for
creating layouts or saving photos. The lower resolution
will result in poor images in the ad, and we can not
guarantee exact duplication.

• Send a white sheet of paper with your design laid out
including photos and text. Please check off the size of
the ad you would like or label it on the white sheet of
paper.
• Send your photographs with your submission or send
a CD with the images (make sure image resolution is
300). Check the Digital Info to be sure of the acceptable
file formats.
• We will replicate your design as closely as possible.
• Please limit the number of photos used to a reasonable
amount. Small cut out photos do not reproduce well.
• For further help working on a Freehand Design, any
yearbook staff member will be more than happy to
assist you.
