6:30pm Evening Service
Speaker: Pastor David Scott
Eve she listened to the lie.
The devil said she would not die
He promised her a better way,
If she would eat the fruit that day.
And so we see, he’s the same today
He tells you, he has a better way
But just as Eve found to her cost
If we’re not saved, we’re forever lost
But we have got good news today
Christ died and paid for a better way
If you will turn your back on sin
And ask the Lord to dwell within.
You will know your sins forgiven
And you will one day enter heaven
WE ARE AT WAR
In 1939, King George V1 of Britain, on the eve of the outbreak
of WW2, gave a solemn message to the nation, warning the
nation to be prepared to sacrifice their lives in defence of their
families and freedom from tyranny. Were he alive today, he
might find himself giving another message to the nation, as we
now face a war that is perhaps without parallel in history. This
message would stand in stark contrast to Queen Elizabeth II's
annual Christmas message that, for decades, has hidden the
danger to which our nation is now exposed.
Imagine, if it is at all possible, Her Majesty’s giving the
following warning to her subjects, instead of her usual Christmas message to the nation, as we eat our turkey and Christmas
pudding:“In this grave hour, perhaps the most fateful in our history, I
send to every household of my people, both at home and
overseas, this message, spoken with the same depth of feeling
for each one of you, as if I were speaking to you face to face.
“For the third time within a century, we are now at war.
“Over and over again, we have tried to reason and appease
those who would have dominion over us, but it has been in vain.
“We have been forced into a conflict with two alien ideologies
-- homosexuality and Islam -- which, should they prevail,
would be catastrophic to any civilized order in the world. They
have seduced, and persuaded our own government, which is
forever hungry for power and fearful of losing their own
position, to disregard their previous assurances, solemn pledges and its own laws and constitution, written and unwritten,
and have instead sanctioned the use of psychological warfare,
by imposing fear, fines, economic ruin, public humiliation,
force or threat of force and imprisonment, in order to further
the agendas of these two ideologies.
“Such ideologies, when stripped of all disguise, are clearly
based upon the fascist doctrine that some are superior and
more fit to cope with the complexities of the 21st century and,
as such, can claim absolute human rights that trump all others.
If this principle were to be established throughout the world,
the security, social cohesion, stability, peace and freedom of
our own country, the Commonwealth of Nations and the rest
of the Free World will be in danger.
“The matter which confronts us is no side issue. For the sake
of all that we ourselves hold dear, to the next generation and
for worldwide order and peace, it is unthinkable that we should
refuse to offer no resistance to this double threat to our very
existence.
“It is to this high purpose that I appeal not only to my people,
but to all those who value truth, justice righteousness and
freedom, to make our cause their own.

“I ask them to remain standing with us, calm and strong in the
approaching storm.
“The task will be hard. There may be dark days ahead, and we
may never in our generation see the results of our efforts. It
may take many generations to win back the freedoms we have
so nonchalantly thrown away. But this war cannot be confined to overseas battle fronts, such as Syria and Iraq or the
Eastern Front, but must take place within our own city centres, schools, places of work, our own homes and wherever
we move and breathe. Be assured that no human effort, no
lobbying, no democratic process or violent response can
withstand this threat, for essentially we wrestle not with flesh
and blood but with spiritual forces. We as a nation have not
only turned our backs on the God of Abraham and Jacob, but
trampled on the cross of Jesus Christ. Only by repenting and
throwing ourselves on the mercy God and being ready for
whatever service or sacrifice is necessary, can we prevail.

Ashers: Equality watchdog issues new legal threat
A Northern Ireland equality watchdog has issued a new legal
threat against a Christian-run bakery, claiming its refusal to
produce a pro-gay marriage campaign cake breaches political
discrimination laws.
Red Cross axes volunteer for opposing same-sex marriage
A grandfather who spent almost 20 years volunteering for the
Red Cross has been dropped by the organisation for opposing
same-sex marriage.
Bryan Barkley held a sign which read “No Same Sex Marriage” and “No Redefinition of Marriage” on the first day
same-sex marriages took place in England.
In August, Mr Barkley was told of the decision to withdraw
his “opportunity to volunteer with the British Red Cross
permanently and with immediate effect”.
The letter also referred to the incompatibility between Mr
Barkley’s views on marriage and the Red Cross’ “fundamental principles and values”.
May’s proposals dangerous, say atheists and Christians
Anyone who criticises same-sex marriage or Sharia law could
be branded an “extremist” under proposed new powers,
Christians and atheists have jointly warned.
The fresh expression of concern comes from The Christian
Institute and the National Secular Society who have raised
fears over planned Extremist Disruption Orders (EDOs),
recently outlined by Home Secretary Theresa May.
EDOs, which are designed to counter Islamic extremism,
have been described as a threat to free speech and reminiscent
of Tony Blair’s notorious religious hatred Bill.
U-turn: Houston pastors won’t have to hand over sermons
The mayor of Houston, Texas, has backtracked over the
city’s legal demand to examine churches’ sermons on homosexuality, in the face of widespread criticism.
Lawyers for Mayor Annise Parker, herself a lesbian, had
originally required “all speeches, presentations, or sermons”
on issues including homosexuality and transsexualism from
five pastors.
However, Parker has now withdrawn the threat, in a move
welcomed by religious liberty group Alliance Defending
Freedom (ADF).
