Thursday 26th February. To help reduce the time to prepare the final report and also reduce mistakes, as the report will not have to be reformatted, could you make the report fit A5 portrait size paper. This normally means using a 10pt “Times Roman New” font to get the report on one page and keep everything standard in the final report. It would be good to have all reports available first week in February. Reports required for the A.G.M. A PRESENT HELP. This is a wonderful Psalm that declares a glorious promise of God, to be A Present Help to His People. The Word "Present" Means "Secure". God Is a Secure Help to those whom are His. And the Psalmist goes on in this Chapter to to tell some of the time when were can rest secure in God's help. Firstly : God Is A Very Present Help When We Are Afraid. Verses 2-5. All of us go through time of of trouble, at times it may seem that our world is being turned upside down, Troubles with out Health, Finances, Family, Work, the list is endless. But the Psalmist says here that even when life is at it's worst, God is still able to help. Isaiah 12 : 2 says "Behold God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid. For the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song, he also is become my salvation." Beloved in those times when fear threatens to get the upper hand, there is One who is well able to stand by your side and Secure You With His Help. Secondly : God Is A Very Present Help When We Are Lonely. Verses 5-7. We live in an aggressive world, and there are time that even The Child Of God can feel that the whole world is against them. Indeed we can see very plainly that this world is becoming intolerant of The Church Of Jesus Christ, and there may be time when we will feel like Elijah who said in 1 Kings 19 : 10 "I, even I only, am left." But beloved remember what it says of the Lord Jesus Christ in Proverbs 18 : 24 "A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a Friend That Sticketh Closer Than A Brother." Oh Christian in those time when you feel that you are all alone remember that "The Lord Of Host Is With Us." You are never alone. Thirdly : God Is A Very Present Help When We Are Weak. Verses 8-9. So often as believers we forget that the war is won, the victory is secured, and that Christ has made Us "More Than Conquerors" Romans 8 : 37. And in His millennial reign The Lord Jesus Christ will bring all aggression to an end. Beloved, while there is much going on in this world to cause us concern, and it may seem that Sin and Evil, are having their own way, Remember That One Day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to The glory of the Father. We are on The Victory Side. And in those time of weakness when we feel that we can't go on, Oh our wonderful Heavenly Father will secure us again in His Victory. Isa 43 V 11 Finally : God Is A Very Present Help When We Are Doubtful. Verses 10-11. Up until this point the Psalmist is talking about God, but it seem that at the end of this Psalm God steps in to have the final Word. That in a world that seems to be all messed up, where Fear, Loneiness, Weakness and Doubt can invade the life of even the strongest Christian, God says "I am God, I am In Control, And I will Honoured." Beloved, just take a moment, and Know That God Is God, and that His Secure Help is your portion every day. So let us declare as the Psalmist does in Verse 11 "The Lord Of Hosts is with us; The God Of Jacob is our refuge." My you know his help in every need of your life. Pastor Alan Hoey A suggestion has been made that we could leave space in the bulletin where you can write notes from the sermon. For the next few weeks we will leave space for notes. Please let me know if you use this (or not). We can then decide if this is useful, depending on feed back from you. What is faith?
