MGI to unveil a new digital press for PVC cards printing
at Cartes 2014
MGI Digital Graphic Technology, the French manufacturer of digital printing and finishing
solutions, will showcase their latest innovations for the industrial plastic card manufacturing
industry at the Cartes 2014 show, held at the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte in Paris
November 4th to 6th (Hall 3, C080).
During this exhibition, MGI
The Meteor DP8700 XL+.
will
unveil
its
new
multi-substrates
digital
press:
 Meteor DP8700 XL+
Multi-substrate digital press - Print on Plastics, Paper and Envelopes
Meteor DP8700 XL+ is a 4-color digital press, which can produce up to 32,000 cards
per hour. The Meteor DP8700 XL+ features 2400 dpi printing on the widest variety of
plastic/synthetic substrates (Teslin, PVC, PET, polycarbonate, etc., from 100 to 400µ)
with full variable data capabilities on sheet sizes up to 330x1200mm (13"x47”).
Variable data printing for short and medium runs, “on-the-fly” or by batch process.
JETcard 3D: New possibilities for the digital "Card Factory"
The JETcard 3D, a fully digital and industrial inkjet plastic card production unit that combines
up to five pieces of equipment used in traditional card manufacturing will showcase its latest
innovations:
- A new liquid Digital Overlay designed to protect the printed cards from abrasion and fraud
- Dye sublimation compatibility with the Digital Overlay
- Six-color printing (CMYK + Orange + Blue) thus extending the gamut of printable colors
The JETcard 3D remains one of the most efficient and productive solutions for industrial
plastic card manufacturing:
- Production speeds of up to 8000 cards/hour
- Integration of printing, personalization, encoding, verification and protection functions in one
single pass
- Ability to create 3D dimensional and embossed effects, with or without variable data
- Possibility of both opaque white and security inks
- Printing on all PVC materials, ABS , PET, Teslin, Paper, wood and other substrates
Embossing and Hot Foil stamping go digital with iFOIL
The iFOIL is a module that works in sync with the JETvarnish 3D digital spot UV coater, and
the combination of these two devices can produce the following finishes at industrial speeds:
- Spot UV varnish with or without 3D dimensional effects
- Digital Embossing up to 200μm thick
- Both flat and embossed Hot Foil stamping without the use of embossing dies, as well as
variable data embossed foiling
This package allows for the card manufacturers to apply all these effects onto offset or
digitally printed sheets (up to 52x105mm format) onto PVC, PET or Teslin or paper. The
production of cards with embossed and metallic numbers is also possible thanks to the 100%
digital process.
Packing innovation into the SonicSeal
The SonicSeal is a card packing solution developed by Kora-Packmat, an MGI group
company.
With a speed of up to 6,000 cards per hour, the SonicSeal allows for the efficient packaging
and ultrasonic sealing of individual cards or linked packages of flat products up to 3.5 mm
thick. An optional camera can also be added to read printed data from the cards and adjust
for the proper sequencing data.
PressCard Pro
Hot platen lamination unit dedicated to the lamination of plastic substrates
PunchCard Pro
Die cutting unit for paper and plastic cards with rounded corners (ISO- CR80 ). Teslin Card
cutter also available.
All these solutions can be seen live on MGI booth at Cartes 2014 (Hall 3, Stand C080).
