Hydraflow has identified three objectives for improving its
environmental impact. By reducing our impact on landfills,
conserving water, and creating energy efficiency, Hydraflow
will not only improve our environmental impact, but also serve
as a good steward of the environment for our surrounding
community. Over the next year, Hydraflow will be launching
various programs and initiatives focusing on these three
objectives. For now, be aware of your role. We will announce
individual programs and initiatives as they roll out.
Reducing our impact on landfills
•Recycle as much as possible
•Properly sort recyclable materials
•Safely dispose of hazardous waste
•Reuse materials where reasonable
•Reduce excessive use of materials like paper
Water Conservation
•Report any leaks to the Facilities Manager
•When washing your hands and dishes, turn off the water while you lather
•If you have extra ice, don’t throw it away – put it in a plant
•Make sure you turn off faucets tightly after each use
Energy Efficiency
•Turn off lights when leaving a room
•Turn off computers, printers, and other equipment if they will be left idle for
an extended period of time
•Keep air vents clear of papers, files, and office supplies

Instant Neck & Head Pain Relief
Have a headache or stiff neck? Before you pop another aspirin, try these stretches to relieve
tension and relax your muscles:
-Head Stretch. Keeping a straight posture, align your left arm behind your back. Reach
over the top of your head and cover the left side of your head with your right palm. Gently
pull your head towards your right shoulder. Hold for 10 seconds and breath. Release and
repeat on the other side.
-Front to back stretch. While sitting up straight and pulling your shoulders down away
from your ears, tilt your head straight back, eyes towards the ceiling, and hold for 10
seconds. Next, tuck your chin down towards your chest and hold 10 seconds.
-Shoulder Shrugs. Raise your shoulders up towards your ears and hold for 3 seconds.
Slowly release and relax. Perform 10 times.
-Neck rolls. Start with your eyes facing forward. Slowly tilt your head forward, then
leading with your chin, roll your head all the way around your neck in a circle. Do 5 times,
then roll your neck slowly the opposite direction 5 times.

Safety Page
Don’t Wait Until an Accident Happens
Often we become aware of hazardous conditions only after someone is hurt or seriously injured. If you see an
unsafe act or condition, don’t ignore it. You could be gambling on you or someone else getting hurt.
Be sure to tell people if you see them working in an unsafe manner. Wouldn’t you expect others to have the
same consideration for you? If you see an unsafe condition, correct it. If you can’t correct it, talk to your
supervisor right away.
Accident Investigation
Accidents are unfortunate events that we strive to prevent. However, some
good can come out of every accident if a thorough accident investigation is
conducted. Investigations can produce information that can be used to prevent a
similar mishap from occurring in the future. Some workers refuse to cooperate
with investigations because they mistakenly believe that its purpose is to
put blame on someone. However, without full cooperation from everyone,
inaccurate conclusions may be reached as to the cause of the incident and
proper measure may not be taken to prevent a reoccurrence.
If you see an accident
Contact emergency personnel immediately and assist at the accident scene as needed. After the scene is secure
or you have been relieved of your responsibilities, make a mental note of everything that occurred and the
conditions that existed before the accident. Ask yourself the following questions:
1. Where was I (and others) when the accident happened?
2. What was I doing?
3. What equipment was involved?
4. Where was the injured person and what work was being doing?
5. What was the sequence of events?
Retain these things in your memory or write them down. Remember that others were in a different position and
may not have seen things as you did. Everyone’s input is needed.
Cooperate in the investigation
When the investigator asks questions about the accident,
give the facts as you recall them. If you omit or change
information to protect someone, the cause of the accident
cannot be accurately determined to help prevent the same
thing from happening again. Next time you may be the
victim.
Time Change!
