SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
The Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) Scholarship Program offers a $2,500 scholarship to graduating high school seniors
for the current 2014-15 school year. Scholarships are awarded to students attending an institute of higher learning upon high school
graduation. The awarded scholarships are broken up in two disbursements; $1,250 for the fall and $1,250 for the spring semester terms
at the recipient’s school of choice. GVEC will send tuition reimbursement funds for the allotted semester upon receipt of the required
information requested by the Cooperative. Recipients are responsible to provide the Cooperative with valid course enrollment in
addition to paid tuition information in order for funds to be disbursed.
Eligibility Requirements:
•
Applicant’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must have an active GVEC electric account.
•
The electric account must be in the name of the applicant’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
•
Applicant must be a 2014-15 high school graduate and be able to meet all admission requirements of the college, university or
trade school selected.
•
Applicant must agree to attend classes as prescribed by the school’s curriculum for the semester in which tuition is paid.
•
In all cases, the Cooperative will have the final decision on eligibility of each applicant, and, if for any reason an applicant is found to
be ineligible by the Scholarship Selection Committee, the scholarship shall not be awarded.
•
Children of GVEC Board of Directors and employees are not eligible for this scholarship.
Rules & Application Process:
1. All sections of the application must be typed .
2. Provide a scholastic transcript for the 2014-15 school year. Unofficial transcripts are accepted and must be signed/stamped by the
school administrator.
3. Applicant information must be submitted as specified within the application. Any additional information or documentation
provided by the applicant which is not requested on this application, will be discarded and will not be considered during the
selection process. (i.e. letters of recommendation, award certificates, college acceptance letters, etc.)
4. Scholarship application must be saved as: LastName_FirstName_Application (i.e. Smith_John_Application)
5. Transcript must be scanned and saved as: LastName_FirstName_Transcript (i.e. Smith_John_Transcript)
6. Scholarship applications and transcripts must be uploaded to www.gvec.org by TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2015 11:59 PM CST.
7. Applicants may be interviewed as part of the selection process and will be notified if they have been selected as a scholarship recipient
by April 1st.
