To capitalize on connecting with consumers and build on Saskatchewan's food and farming profile, a new organization called Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan (FFC SK) will be a one-stop marketplace for consumers, farmers and members organizations on all things food and farming. "The vision of Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan is an organization that focuses on the production of food from farm gate to the consumer plate," emphasizes Adele Buettner, Executive Director of FACS. "Not only will farmers and ranchers be involved in Farm & Food Care, but also food processors, retailers, wholesalers, chefs... all those who have a stake in food and farming in the province. We're excited to invite everyone to the table to engage in real dialogue on the topics that matter to all of us." Joe Kleinsasser, Interim Board Chair for Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan, has been immersed in the formation of the new organization. "Farm & Food Care presents tremendous opportunities to connect farmers with consumers. With less than 2% of people in Canada having a direct link to the farm these days, it is important for us to let people know that agriculture in the province is a dynamic, vibrant and technologically advanced industry. Those of us who are intimately involved in food production in the province want consumers to know that we take great pride in producing food that is nutritious and safe to eat." Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan will host an industry launch entitled "Farms at the Table: Menus for Opportunity" December 10-11 at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel in Saskatoon. This exciting two-day event will kick off with an inspiring workshop on communicating with consumers and networking within the industry on December 10. Kelly Daynard, Farm & Food Care Ontario, whose "Speak Up" training will focus on how to get the message of modern-day agriculture out to consumers.
