week those who’ve served in our military, we pray for peace throughout the world.

May the Great Physician give peace, good health, and strength to all who are in need of His healing

Rhymer’s niece), Kelly Baumann (Sam & Judy Baumann’s daughter-in-law), Rev. Timothy Carr (Rev.

We remember in our prayers the family and friends of Elfurt Blomenberg who was called to be with his
Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 6. Funeral arrangements were pending as the bulletin went to print.
May the comforting arms of our Savior be around those who mourn, reminding them of that great day when
all believers will be reunited in heaven.
We remember Todd & Kylene Deitemyer, Chris & Wava Lichtle, and Jon & Traci Werling who are
celebrating wedding anniversaries this week. May our loving Father continue to bless these
couples, remain at the center of their homes, and guide them daily through life’s joys and
challenges.
We remember in our prayers Michelle Martin who teaches 3rd grade at Wyneken, Deb Miller who teaches at
Concordia Elementary Lutheran School, as well as our Sunday School Superintendent, Lisa Bultemeier. May
the Lord bless, guide, and direct them throughout the school year.
We remember those who are presently serving our country—Jason Putteet, Alan Bergdall, Mike Brandt, Dean
Brandt, Jacob Lee who is deployed for six months to the Middle East, Derek Schultz, Jacob Stoppenhagen, Sam
Conrad (South Korea), Jeremy Nabity (Christine Bultemeier’s nephew) who is in Qatar, Rob Grothaus (with the
Blacksnakes from Ft. Wayne who were recently deployed to Afghanistan), Bret Comer, Heidi Clark, and Chad
Hall (Doris Conrad’s son-in-law). May the Lord protect and guide them in their missions.

The Thursday morning LWML Bible Class will meet at 9 a.m. this Thursday, November 13, at the home of Ann
Crosby. The Busy Women’s Bible Class will meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. The class will not
meet on the 10th however. The next class will be the 24th of November. Come to the conference room at the
office at Tim & Kris Blomenberg’s to be a part of the class.
Board of Stewardship’s Food for Thought – By God’s grace, we acknowledge that God is the Creator Who
continues to sustain His creation by the power of His word. This creative work was expended on our behalf
and placed under our rule. God gave to man the task of being a steward of His creation (Genesis 1:26). From
the beginning of time, God has provided for all our needs, physical and spiritual, and we are reminded by
Jesus’ words that we are to share our gifts with others: “Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8
NIV).

Have you ever tried the rolls (dinner or cinnamon) that the Oasis youth make around Thanksgiving? They are
delicious!! If you wish to order some for Thanksgiving, please complete the order form. A form was included
in your November newsletter and there are extra forms in the Gathering Area. Payment must be included
with the order and orders must be returned by Sunday, November 16. You may place your completed order
forms in the box in the Gathering Area or give it to one of the Baumann’s—Mitch, Angie, or Madilyn. There is
a table set up this morning for your convenience in ordering. The Oasis High School youth will meet tonight at
7 p.m. for Bible study. In addition, Oasis youth, young adults, and parents are invited to attend the National
“March for Life” and LCMS Life Conference on January 21-25 in Washington, DC. Contact Mr. Horning as soon
as possible if you are interested in attending.
The ingathering for November will continue to benefit the Ft. Wayne Seminary Food Co-Op.
Needed items include cereal, canned soup, drink mixes, and other canned goods. There is a
green tote in the Gathering Area for you to place your donations. Thank you in advance for
your help.
The Morning Glories would like to thank all those who helped in any way with craft shows at South Adams and
Lighted Gardens. Sales at South Adams totaled $1,302. Their next show will be at Wyneken on Saturday,
December 6. The ladies will not meet this Tuesday. They will meet again on Tuesday, November 18.
The Seasoned Walther Leaguers will not meet this Tuesday, the 11th. They will meet next on Tuesday,
December 9, at 12:30 p.m. in the church basement.
The Altar Guild will have their quarterly meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the church basement on Tuesday, November
11. The Guild would love to add more members. Each month, two members of the Guild help set out the
communion ware and then clean up following the worship service. If more people would become involved,
the work could be shared and your help might only be needed one month per year. If you have questions or
think you might want to becoming involved, come to the meeting. If you can’t make the meeting, talk to Tina
Geels or Kris Blomenberg and they will try to answer your questions.

Take a moment and get your blood pressure checked following today’s worship service. Our Parish Nurse,
Wava Lichtle, will be in the Gathering Area. Look her up and get your pressure checked!
Games continue in the Monday Night Church League. Friedheim’s team will face Cornerstone
Church in the Service Complex at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 10. If you are a confirmed
member and would like to be part of the team, please contact Dan Buuck (260-223-4632).
Registration forms for this year’s Advent by Candlelight were included in your November
newsletter. There are also some in the Gathering Area (next to the box where you are to
deposit the forms). This year’s beneficiary of the ingathering is “Tiny Angel Comfort Kits.”
Hostesses will be needed and if you are willing to serve as one, please return your form by
November 23. If you have questions about that, you may contact Cindy Wass (260-4382578). If you would be willing to make a dessert, you can mark that on the form and/or
contact Jan Buuck (639-3380). A few readers are still needed for the program. If you are
willing to help with that, contact Shirley Buuck (547-4415).
The Trustees are taking bids for church custodian, Parish Hall custodian, groundskeeper, and snow removal. If
you have questions or wish to bid on any of these jobs (a bid form is required), please contact one of the
Trustees—Tim Blomenberg, Steve Conrad, Fred Geels, or Zach Stoppenhagen. The forms are to be returned
no later than Sunday, November 23.
Wednesday, December 3, the LWML will serve the first of three mid-week Advent suppers. As is the past,
serving begins at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Help with preparing the meal, donating desserts (three each meal),
serving the meal, and clean up. If you would be willing to help, please contact Shirley Buuck at home (5474415) or at the church office (547-4248). Funds raised will be used to help fund the various mission projects
that our LWML is involved with on a local basis. Your help is much appreciated.
There were some who didn’t receive the contents of the November newsletter, only the mailing page. There
are some extra copies in either entranceway of the church or you can go on-line (www.zionfriedheim.org) and
go to the newsletter tab.
Thrivent Financial (1737 Morningstar Blvd. in Decatur) encourages you to bring those files and documents you
no longer need but would like to shred to protect yourself from identity theft. A high-powered shred truck
will be there to securely dispose of your unwanted documents. There is a limit of 2 boxes/bags per person
and you are asked to remove paper clips, staples, and binding. There is no cost. Just come to their office on
Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. You are encouraged to bring non-perishable items for the local
food banks. If you need more information, contact Thrivent at 724-4222. Additional sponsorship is being
provided by German Mutual Insurance Company.
Martini Lutheran Church is having their 3rd Annual Hog Roast today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Central Lutheran
School. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 5-10. Those 4 and under may eat free (dine-in only).
Carry out is available.
St. Paul Preble will have their bazaar on Saturday November 15, from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Visit the Cookie
Corner, purchase frosted Christmas cookies, buy their famous noodles, and check out the Bake Sale and crafts.
A luncheon will be served.
The bus has been booked, the Bavarian Inn has been reserved, and we are ready for a wonderful trip to
Frankenmuth on Saturday, December 6. Bingen’s Social Committee hopes you, your friends and family will
join them for a fun-filled day, with the bus departing St. John Bingen at 6:30 a.m. A cost of $75 per person
includes the motor coach, a light breakfast, all you can eat family-style lunch at the Bavarian Inn, and a sack
supper. Plans are to visit Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, Zehnder's "River Place" Bavarian Village Shops,

and end our day together with a 6:30 p.m. Advent Service at historic St. Lorenz Lutheran Church (LCMS). If
you are interested in joining them, please contact Jan Zelt at 639-3136 or Bingen’s church office (6396178). Please make checks payable to St. John Lutheran Social Committee, with reservations and payments to
be turned in no later than Monday, November 10.
Concordia Theological Seminary invites their friends and neighbors to a special brunch on Sunday, November
16, from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Katherine Luther Dining Hall on the seminary campus at 6600 N. Clinton
Street, Fort Wayne. The brunch will feature appetizing breakfast items, hearty lunch options and a delicious
array of desserts. The cost is just $15/adults, $7.50/ages 6-10, children age 5 and under eat for free. As an
added bonus, everyone attending will receive a free book valued at $15. In addition to the brunch, there will
be a Gift Emporium in the Student Commons. What a great time to shop for Christmas gifts! Items for sale
include embellished and embroidered sweatshirts for men and women, jewelry and a wide variety of books
for all ages. All profits from the brunch and the Emporium will go directly toward CTS Student Financial Aid. To

Dear members of Friedheim, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all those who thought of me during my
most recent hospitalization. It is great to be back home! The cards, prayers, and visits meant so much. I
especially want to thank Pastor Dahling for his visits and prayers. May the Lord bless each of you. – Irene Kiess
Wyneken News
At the August 4 Wyneken Association Meeting, it was decided that more time was needed to finalize an audit
of the Wyneken books. An Auditing Committee comprised of members from each of the three congregations
was given 90 days to complete an audit. With the understanding that the Audit Committee is scheduled to
meet the 90-day deadline, a meeting will need to be held soon. However, the special Association meeting will
not be on the 17th. Watch the bulletin for the date, time, and place of the meeting. If you have any questions,
please contact a school board member.
The Wyneken School Board is accepting bids for snow removal at Wyneken. If you are interested in bidding on
the job, the bid must be submitted to the school office by noon on Wednesday, December 3. If you have
questions, you may contact the school or a School Board member.
Don’t forget to purchase SCRIP for all your needs. You may even be starting your holiday shopping. Look at all
the vendors and certificates available before you head out on that shopping trip. You may get your SCRIP
from Carma Conrad, our SCRIP representative (639-3844 or e-mail her at [email protected]). SCRIP is
available in the school office during school hours as well as online at www.wynken.org. Just click on “Scrip
order form.”
It’s time for the annual PTL Christmas Cards and Gifts Fundraiser (through the Kleinhenn Company). This is an
all-school fundraiser for Pre-school through 8th graders. Wyneken receives a 46% return on the sales from the
company. The sale date has been extended to Wednesday, November 12. There is an on-line ordering
option.
Once again, our 1st and 5th graders are adopting families for Christmas through Lutheran Social Services. This
year they will sponsor five families. As in the past, your help is needed. The November Chapel offerings have
been designated to these families. In addition, a list of items (the families’ Wish Lists) was included in the
November newsletter and a copy of the Wish List is posted in either entranceway of the church. You will also
notice that this year certain grades have been assigned specific families.
The PTL will meet on Monday, November 10, at 7 p.m. Child care is provided at no cost by members of the 7 th
& 8th grade classes.

December is holiday bonus days! Look at the holiday items when completing your order. Order sheets for
Market Day are to be returned by Monday, November 17, with phone and internet orders due by 11 p.m. on
Thursday, November 20. Pick up is just before Thanksgiving on Tuesday, November 25, from 6:30 p.m. to
7:30 p.m.
The Fall Scholastic Book Fair takes place on November 17-21. If you can help out that week, please contact
Mrs. Rabel ([email protected]).
The Middle Grades Musical (third – fifth) takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25.
Grandparents/Special Friends Day, Wednesday, November 26. The day will begin with check-in of guests
from 7:45 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. Help will be needed in the cafeteria to serve lunches.
The school continues to save Box Tops for Education from General Mills products, Campbell’s Labels for
Education, and pop tabs. You can give them to any Wyneken student, drop them off at the school office, or
place them in the three-drawer unit found in the Gathering Area (near the SCRIP table). The school also takes
used printer/laser/toner cartridges (not black powder toners) and cell phones, which are redeemed for cash
with a local recycling company.
Does your child struggle with reading? If so, the Lutheran Special Education Ministry invites you to join them
for a free viewing of the video, “The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia.” There will be time for general
discussion and a question and answer period. Please come to Emmanuel Lutheran Church (917 W. Jefferson
Blvd. in Ft. Wayne) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 20. If you need more information, please contact Kara

Sports
Tournament action continues as the varsity girls’ are competing in a tournament in Indianapolis while the
varsity boys’ are at Suburban Bethlehem for a tournament today. This coming weekend the roles are
reversed, as the boys’ varsity squad travels to Indy for their tournament with their first-round game set for
7:15 p.m. on Friday, November 14, versus Our Shepherd while the varsity girls’ team will participate in a
weekend tourney at Suburban Bethlehem. Ask a player about more information on game times, dates, and
opponents. The JV teams begin play on Tuesday, November 11, as the teams go to Emmanuel – St. Michael
with the girls’ game at 4:15 p.m. and the boys’ game at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, November 13, the varsity
squads host Suburban Bethlehem at Wyneken. The girls’ team plays at 4:15 p.m. followed by the boys’ team
at 5:30 p.m. Good luck in the tourneys!

The Readings – The Day of Our Lord
Amos 5:18-24 – Let Justice Roll Down – Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! Why would you have the
day of the Lord? It is darkness, and not light, as if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him, or went into the
house and leaned his hand against the wall, and a serpent bit him. Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and not
light, and gloom with no brightness in it? “I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn

assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the
peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your
songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like
an ever-flowing stream.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 – The Coming of the Lord – But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers,
about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe
that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the
Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry
of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ
will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet
the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these
words.

Matthew 25:1-13 – The Parable of the Ten Virgins – Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who
took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when
the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the
bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the
bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said
to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there
will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were
going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and
the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered,
‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.
