Resident of the Month
The Village Happenings
George W. Bailey was born on April 3rd in Kaufman, Texas. He was baptized at the age of 13 and
began preaching at 14. George attended Hardeman College, Southwestern Oklahoma State, University
of New Mexico, and Abilene Christian College. He married Ela Beth Todd on January 22, 1943, and he
remembers it as the longest ceremony of his life! He couldn’t wait to be married to her. Together,
George and Ela Beth had two sons, David and Philip. They also have six grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
George was a preacher in Weatherford, Oklahoma, making $20/week. He made $22.50/week when he
got married and said that Ela Beth was worth the $2.50/week raise! He later became a preacher in
various states - New Jersey, New Mexico, and several cities in Texas and Oklahoma. When he arrived
in Dallas in 1972, he settled and became an Elder of Prestoncrest for 15 years.
He retired from full-time local work but continued to serve and do evangelistic work throughout the United States and overseas.
George traveled extensively and has been to over 100 countries and six of the seven continents! He has taken 21 trips to the
Holy Land and completed two around-the-world trips. While traveling, he preached in area-wide campaigns in South Africa,
Australia, Scotland, Switzerland, England, Russia, and Nazareth, Israel. He also had the rare privilege of preaching in Russia
(Moscow, Stalingrad, and Lenningrad – Volgograd, Rostov) in 1958. He was a guest speaker at the opening of the 1964 New
York World Fair in the Protestant Pavilion. For three years, George was a regular speaker on the Herald of Truth radio and TV
that was carried on two major networks. He has also been a staff writer for three Christian papers and an author of a second
volume of Great Preachers of Today. George is very thankful to have been blessed with many people in his life who influenced
his work.

Employee Spotlight
Nancy Brown was born in Sealy but grew up in Brookshire. She has been working in our Dietary
Department for six years now. She loves the Friends and Family Nights at Colonial Oaks and the
looks of enjoyment on the residents’ faces as they have fun.
Nancy has traveled to many states numerous times – California, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia, and
Washington, D.C. – and would one day like to go to Paris. She plans on getting her degree in health
administration. Nancy is knowledgeable with cars and knows how to check the fluids and change the
tires. She enjoys watching movies and reading. Nancy has two daughters and spends her spare time
with her family. Nancy helps her girls make up dance moves for their Praise Dance Team. She and
her daughter have a basketball rivalry every year, and Nancy lets everybody know that she is still
pretty good for her age. For Nancy, her faith, her family, her church family, and her friends play a
pivotal role in her life.
