BUDGET VOTE
There will be a business meeting with no discussion to adopt the 2015 budget on Wednesday,
November 12, during prayer meeting at 6:15 p.m. in Coakley Chapel. Copies of the proposed budget
are available in the church office, vestibule, and welcome center.
Light Up Mt. Washington
First Baptist Church is partnering with our city to “Light Up Mt. Washington,” Friday, December 5 from
6-9 p.m. This partnership assists our community to discover the meaning of the Savior’s birth in the midst of
holiday celebrations. We are excited to decorate our town with light! As we do this, we remember the following:
God commissioned angels to roll back the night and fill it
with blazing light!
God provided a mighty celestial choir to serenade a few
startled shepherds!
God graced the heavens with a miracle star!
God arranged such a memorable entry point as a feeding
trough in a stable!
God went to all this trouble to open our eyes to His entry
into our world! (Reprinted Come…And Behold Him!)
Then let us honor our Savior’s birth by lighting our city.
The Light of the World has come! We are reassured of his coming as we read, “In Him was life, and the life
was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness…That was the true light which gives light to every
man who comes into the world” (John 1:4, 5, 9). We will reflect that light by hosting several activities on this
special night as a gift to our community:
· A Live Nativity
· Three Choirs to Sing on the Front Steps of our Church
from First Baptist Church, Mt. Washington Elementary
School and Mt. Washington Middle School
· Seasonal Refreshments in the Christian Life Center
and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus with
picture-taking available
· Our Mayor Lighting the City’s Christmas Lights
· Free Carriage Rides
· Special Gifts Awarded
· Mt. Washington Lions’ Club Fish Fry

COMMUNITY PRISON MINISTRIES
CHRISTMAS STOCKING PROJECT
WMU and Community Prison Ministries will once again facilitate a Christmas Stocking
Project that will send Christmas stockings to the Bullitt County Detention Center. The
stockings are for inmates to give to their children during Christmas visitation. If you plan to fill
stockings, you can pick them up in the Welcome Center and return the them to the CLC by
December 8. If you have questions about this project, contact Barbara Wright at 396-0138 or
the church office at 538-7361.
MISSIONS BENEFIT DINNER & SILENT AUCTION
Sunday, November 16, 4:30 p.m., Fellowship Hall
Missions Benefit Dinner (Country soup and cornbread) plus a silent auction.
Cost is $6 per person; $25 family maximum. Proceeds to benefit the missions budget.
Auction items include: baskets, country ham, and Orlando time share. Cakes & baskets due to
Fellowship Hall Sunday morning, November 16. Sunday School classes are welcome to donate baskets
as done in years past. Contact Cindy Cecil in the church office with any questions.
ANNIE MOSES BAND
The acclaimed family musical ensemble, Annie Moses Band, will be bringing their
unique blend of Classical, Christian, Folk and Pop Music to First Baptist Church
once again on November 16 in concert at 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.
A love offering will be taken.

BOY SCOUTS FOOD DRIVE/Community Ministries
On Saturday, November 22, our local Boy Scout
troops will be collecting food for Mt. Washington
Community Ministries. You can help support this
worthy cause by placing canned goods or staple
food items outside your front door (you may also
hang the food in a plastic bag from your doorknob).
The Scouts will be coming by and collecting food at
some point in the day. Please participate! Our
Scouts will appreciate it, and Community Ministries
will be able to provide for more families in the
Mt. Washington area.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Our annual missions effort in conjunction
with Samaritan’s Purse shoebox collection
will be in the sanctuary on Nov. 23. This is a
great opportunity for us as a church family to
come together and impact the lives of hundreds of
underprivileged children around the world with
the gospel of Christ! Our church-wide goal is 350
shoeboxes. Please prayerfully consider what you
(your family/SS class/small group) can contribute!

Looking for a place to contribute? Upward basketball needs you. We are
looking for men and women who have a heart for sharing the gospel with
children. We are in need of coaches, referees and concession stand

MISSIONS
EASTERN KENTUCKY MISSION
Our Eastern Kentucky Mission Team will be ministering in Cumberland KY,
November 20 - 22 assisting with set-up, preparation and serving Thanksgiving
Dinner to 350-400 people. We invite you to participate in this ministry project in
helping with food cost by making a contribution to Eastern KY Missions. Also,
desserts are needed for the dinner. If you can contribute a dessert or need more
information, please contact Janet Stine at 538-7234 or [email protected].
Desserts can be dropped off in Romans Hall on November 19 between 2:45
and 6:00 p.m. Also, men are needed to help unload a semi trailer on Friday for
distribution on Saturday. If you would like to be a part of this ministry or need
