Somalia Dekadal Rainfall Update 3rd Dekad of October 2014 Issued on 04/11/2014 This bulle n provides summary of 10 days (Dekadal) observed rainfall in Somalia During the 3rd Dekad of October (21st – 30th October 2014), there was reduced rainfall ac vi es in the northwestern and northeastern parts of Somalia. Only two sta ons recorded good rains: Odweyne (48mm) and Sheikh (38mm). Other sta ons that received light rains include Hargeisa (6.5mm), Elafweyne (18.5mm) and Cadaadley (5mm). 30 North East Region Most of the areas in the North East Region did not receive any rains over the past dekad. The only sta on which recorded rains was Buhoodle (68.8mm). Shabelle Valley The Shabelle valley received light to moderate rains in the third dekad of October. The dekad was characterised by increase in river levels along the Shabelle causing floods in some parts especially Belet Weyne and the lower reaches of the river. Cumula ve rainfall for 2014 is above normal in some sta ons while in others it remains below normal. 900
