Parent Quesonnaires
Many thanks to all the parents who have returned the parent questionnaires. We
value and listen to your responses. We will publish the results of the questionnaire
shortly, however it was pleasing to see such a positive response.
Reminder
Mrs Collins is available
to see parents most
mornings 8.45-9.00
without an
appointment.
Several parents indicated that they would like to be able to make comments as well
as ticking boxes to questions. Therefore please find attached to this week’s
newsletter a ‘Parent comment form’.
We always like to follow up any dissatisfaction and areas for improvement, and we
welcome you to raise any concerns you may have. It is also important that we
continue to do the things you feel we do well!
Year 6 Warning Zone Visit
Super Hero Dress Up
Day
On Friday 14th
November , all children
are invited to wear a
Super Hero outfit to
school for Children In
Need. A home-made
cape or mask is
great...no need to buy
anything especially for
this day. £1 donation.
On Friday 10th October, the year 6 children visited "The Warning Zone" in
Leicester. This is an interactive centre made up of many different "rooms" which
encourage young people to explore issues around risk, peer pressure, anti-social
behaviour and personal responsibility.
The children really took an active part in this and we were very proud of them. We
have even been asked to arrange for two of our children to give a speech to the
High Sheriffs of Leicestershire and Rutland later this month to encourage future
funding of the centre.
Margaret said, "Your children are really well behaved and a credit to the school."
Derek said, "What a great bunch of kids, really great to take around. "
Hopefully our children will be very persuasive when they give their speeches and
younger children will be able to visit in the future.

Sports Hall Athlecs
On Wednesday 29th October, a team of 28 year 6 boys and girls went to Crown Hills to compete in the East
Leicester athletics competition. We are delighted to announce that we won the event and will now represent
East Leicester at the Leicestershire and Rutland Competition later this month. Those of you on Twitter may wish
to retweet our team photograph by visiting www.lrsport.org/schoolgames.
All the children were very well behaved and showed a sporting attitude by cheering on and complimenting
their team mates.
We would like to say an individual well done to Armaan who came first in the Chest Push and this was the first
time he has competed in this event.
Cross Country
A huge well done to the children that took part in the City and County cross country event last Saturday at
Prestwold Hall, near Loughborough. A fantastic event with around 1500 children from years 3 to 6 taking
part from across the City and County. Mrs Collins and Miss Mayes took the children on the school minibus
and were both very proud of all the children that took part. It was a tough event that needed
determination, resilience and both mental and physical strength. Remember our motto!
Well done to:
Tiah S, Keaon M, Jack H, Bailey S, George
T, Harrison N, Phillip S, Angel C, Melanie
C, Spencer F, Sonny G, Shantelle W.

The next event is on Saturday 29th November.

Parents’ Comments
At Willowbrook, we are keen to hear our parents’ feedback on how we are doing and what more we can do to
improve the education of your children. Following our last consultation with parents, we have worked on
several points that were raised. These have included:
-More lunchtime and after school clubs for a range of year groups
-Regular updates through newsletters and our website
-Informing the Local Authority of our ongoing concerns over traffic outside the school – including the
placement of the new bollards near our main entrance
-Regular educational visits
-The development of the school grounds to encourage outdoor learning (outdoor classroom, foundation
stage, school garden, wildlife garden, adventure trail and woodland area)
