There is another important issue which has been
rearing it’s ugly head during the last couple of
weeks which we are trying our best to solve. Those
of you who have your ear close to the ground may
have already got a hint of something amiss as far as
the service of liquor is concerned.
I did turn up for Bollywood Night “The Golden
Era, 2014”, however, and what a night it turned
out to be! The moment it started at 8:35 pm
until the grand finale at about 9:20 pm it was a
continuous humdinger of popular Bollywood
tunes performed by our very own Club Members.
Believe me when I say that it was 40 minutes of
pure entertainment with never a dull moment.
It was a tribute to the organizing capacity of our
MIC- Entertainment, Mr. Naveen Mendonza
ably choreographed by none other than the ever
popular Ms. Preeta Pereira. May be they missed
out on Zeenat Ammans’ “Dhum Maro Dhum”
but otherwise all the hit tunes of yesteryear were
there for all to enjoy.
You can rest assured, dear Members that we are
trying to solve this problem and should have a
solution soon. We will certainly keep you posted
on further developments!
All the very best!
Mr. Brandon Daly’s depiction of comedian Asrani
as a cop was also outstanding – especially the way
he vanished at the least sign of trouble! Only to
turn up once again when things were back to

To get into the festive mood, the Carols by
Candle light theme this year will be “Santa
and the Elves” which will be held on the 20th
of December. We will have a fun filled evening
with carols, dances and a skit. We would be
happy to have the participation of members and
their families. All those interested in taking part
kindly give your name to Mrs. Marjorie Texeira
, contact no. 9844127341 or to the club contact
no. 080 49023333 by the 10th of November.
Karaoke with K J Martin was as usual enjoyed by
the large turnout.
The October fest “BEERLYMPICS” held on
11th October was such a great success that the
sponsors and promoters informed us that it was
the best October fest event in Bangalore. Our
team of Rohan Mascarenhas and Michael De
Rebello won the Bangalore preliminary and
qualified to take part in the National Finals
which was held on the 17th of October.
We would be starting dance classes like jazz, salsa
and cha cha cha from Novermber 5th onwards
which will be conducted by Preeta Pereira’s
dance group. All those who take part would also
be trained to perform for the mega Christmas
musical “Santa and the Elves” which will be held
on the 20th of December. Please contact the club
reception to register yourselves.
Bollywood Night “The Golden Era 2014” was
a block buster which had a massive turnout of
around a thousand people. We had 74 members
and their children who took part in this
mammoth production. A big thank you to all
who took part and all those who helped back
stage, I would like to personally thank the club
office and staff for all their help and support. DJ
Rony set the dance floor ablaze with Bollywood
Beats.

The month of September was a bit quiet from the
F&B side but we continue to try to serve some
specials on Friday’s and Saturdays with special
counters from our own canteen as well as from
our members who request to put up a counter of
their specialty on the weekends.
Don’t delay.....the spots are filling up fast
And, there is PRIZE MONEY to be won!!!!!!
We also had the biryani buffet which had 3 types
of different biryani and it was a fairly successful
event.
We will also be having a demo by the Bangalore
Youth Football League (another postponement
due to the rain that day), where they will also
answer any questions you may have. All Youth and
Children are welcome. Parents too.
As planned last month we wanted to have a
Sunday Anglo Indian buffet but due to lack of
dates we couldn’t have it but for sure we will try
and do it this month. We will keep you all posted
on the dates via sms and the Notice Board.

The Bridge and Whist classes are going on and are
well attended. In fact the number of players for the
Whist Drive has even increased! Thanks Manoj and
Marjorie Texeira for your help.
iBrowse enjoyed a taste of Food Prints.
Every month we have an author of a different genre,
grace our iBrowse book club event. Authors range
from Meena Menon and her almost academic book
on the Riots in Mumbai to a Facebook Phantom by
young Susanne Sanghi and like this time, a cookbook
interestingly called ‘Foodprints’ by Priya Bala. The
reason is simple -- our readers get to meet a cross
section of authors with an unusual set of genres of
writing, to keep their interest unflagging. Among
the reading fraternity of Bangalore, iBrowse has
become synonymous with good reading and our
guest authors, enjoy the interaction with our very
verbal members.

Last month we conducted the Louis Mathias Doubles
Snooker Handicap Tournament. After 3 finals in a
row in which ours teams finished runners up, our
team of Eugene Victor and Kishan Thomas lifted
the torphy in a one sided final. Congratulations to
the team.
This time we got to enjoy not just the book, but
Priya Bala the author gave us a taste of two of her
recipes in the book. One was a Sinhalese rice cake
with dollops of coconut milk added to give it, it’s
unique flavour. Lamington’s from Australia dunked
in hot liquid chocolate and rolled in desiccated
coconut had iBrowsers come right up and check
out her quick and skillful expertise. Food Prints is
available off Flipkart for those who would like to
buy her book.
This month we will be conducting the Golden
Greats Billiards Tournament. All those interested
kindly give your names to the markers.
