Sagor och myter är enligt C. G. Jung egentligen en berättelse om vår egen psykologiska
resa till helhet, med hinder och utmaningar
på vägen. H.C. Andersens saga Snödrottningen är ett fantastiskt exempel på det.
Sagan dignar av symboler som liknar de som
finns i Kabbalans och alkemins bildvärld. I
seminariet utforskar vi några av symbolerna
tillsammans. En bra föreberedelse är att läsa
sagan innan ni kommer.
Suzanne Gieser är fil dr och leg psykoterapeut. Författare till bl a den ”Innersta
kärnan” som behandlar C.G. Jungs tankeutbyte mellan kvantfysikern Wolfgang Pauli
och C.G. Jung samt ”Psykoterapins pionjärer
i Sverige”, som behandlar psykoterapins
historia i Sverige.

Manligt, kvinnligt och androgynt

Föredrag med Jörgen Magnusson, docent
Det finns en utbredd uppfattning att de bibliska skapelseberättelserna säger att mannen skapades före
kvinnan. Denna tolkningstradition har varit mycket stark och även använts för att motivera manlig överhöghet. Feministteologer har ifrågasatt denna läsning av 1 Mosebok. Docent Jörgen Magnusson presenterar dessa feministiska läsningar och visar även på deras antika, gnostiska föregångare. På så vis presenteras ofta förbisedda läsningar av de bibliska myterna och deras betydelse för myternas budskap om manligt
och kvinnligt.

Gollum: repulsive shadow,
or a guide in the darkness?
Föredrag med Aileen Young, jungiansk analytiker
Gollum is a central character in J.R.R Tolkien’s epic tale, The Lord of the Rings. He is obsessed
with the Ring. He shadows the Hobbits, whom he pursues in the hope of regaining possession of
this powerfully evil Ring. The Hobbits are on an extraordinary journey into the Land of Darkness to
destroy the Ring in Mount Doom where it was originally made.
Symbolically, Gollum is a shadow figure, representing all the qualities that civilized Hobbits, and
humans, find repulsive and abhorrent. Can you imagine Gollum as your ‘new best friend’? Would
you be ready to trust a smelly, dirty, untrustworthy murderer to lead you into ‘the Land where the
Shadows Lie? This is exactly what the hobbit, Frodo, must do in order to complete his journey and
achieve his goal.
Sometimes the unconscious presents us with such characters, with whom we have to engage to
further the work of our individuation.
In this talk, the focus of attention will be on the complex and mercurial nature of Gollum, as a
Shadow figure in the unconscious and on his relationship with Frodo. I will also explore how an
engagement with shadow aspects is imperative for the experience of psychic aliveness and for real
psychological development.
It would be helpful, but not essential, for participants to read a synopsis of the story of the Lord of
the Rings, or to view the Peter Jackson films, in advance of the presentation.
Aileen Young is a Jungian Analyst, working in private practice in north county Dublin, Ireland. She
has lectured on Jungian topics on several training courses in Dublin. She is the current president of
the Irish Society of Jungian Analysts.

Den mytologiska sagan Amor
och Psyche som den berättas av
Apulejus, tolkas av E. Neumann
och som vi kan reflektera över
den idag. En presentation om
det maskulina, det feminina och
hur vi ska få ihop det?
Myter och sagor fungerar som nycklar för att få syn
djupt liggande arketypiska mönster. De gör det till
synes osynliga synligt och de kommer med ett universellt symbolspråk som talar till djupa skikt inom
oss. Den jungianske psykoanalytikern Erich Neumann
(1905-1960) har sett myten om Amor (Eros) och
Psyche som en skildring av kvinnligt hjälteskap och
jag läser den också som ett mönster för hur män och
kvinnor kan skapa en fruktbar kärleksrelation. Vad
jag vill peka på är en tvetydighet, gestaltad i myten
och i hög grad i det verkliga livet. Min presentation utgår från Neumanns text om Amor och Psyche

Varje dag möter vi numera tiggare på våra gator.
Ibland ger vi en slant.Ibland tittar vi bort. Men bilden av tiggaren stannar kvar.
Och leder till olika känslor.
Vi har också en inre tiggare inom oss som vädjar om att bli sedd och hörd.
Vad han eller hon tigger om kommer vi att utforska tillsammans med Dr Erel Shalit och
Dr Nancy Furlotti.
During this weekend we will share theoretical and experiential aspects of the collective psyche,
mostly by means of amplification of dreams.
The experiential parts can be held in Swedish (i.e., theoretical aspects most likely delivered in English, but the actual work in Swedish; all sessions combine theory and experiential work, unless stated
‘lecture’)
All dream sessions combine theoretical parts and experiential work (or play).
By means of the participants’ dreams, we shall trace themes and archetypal images that might be
relevant for the temporary community that has come together for the workshop. The dreamer who
shares a dream is a messenger, who brings the dream for the community to explore its images and
significance. While the work is experiential, it is didactic by nature, rather than directly therapeutic
for the dreamer.

Dr. Erel Shalit Dr. Erel Shalit was born and raised in Sweden. He is a Jungian
psychoanalyst in Tel Aviv, past President of the Israel Society of Analytical Psychology, and founding Director of the Jungian Analytical Psychotherapy Program
at Bar Ilan University. He is a past Director of the Shamai Davidson Community
Mental Health Clinic, at the Shalvata Psychiatric Centre in Israel.
He is chair of the forthcoming Jung Neumann Letters Conference, April 24-26,
2015.
He is the author of several books, among them The Cycle of Life: Themes and
Tales of the Journey; Enemy, Cripple & Beggar: Shadows in the Hero’s Path; The
Complex: Path of Transformation from Archetype to Ego (which has also been
published in Swedish); and the novella Requiem: A Tale of Exile and Return; and
with Nancy Swift Furlotti, he has edited The Dream and its Amplification.
He is the editor of a forthcoming, previously unpublished book by Erich Neumann, Jacob and Esau: On
the Collective Symbolism of the Brother Motif, and a volume to be co-edited with Murray Stein, as well as
the author of a forthcoming book on The Human Soul: Lost in Transition at the Dawn of a New Era.
Nancy Swift Furlotti, Ph. D. is a Jungian Analyst in private practice in Los
Angeles and Carpinteria, CA.
She is past president of the Philemon Foundation and the C.G. Jung Institute
of Los Angeles, where she trained. She has numerous publications and lectures
internationally on Jungian topics, mythology, and the environment. Dr. Swift
Furlotti established the Carl Jung Professorial Endowment in Analytical Psychology at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA. She
is also on the board of the Foundation for Anthropological Research & Environmental Studies (FARES) and has recently joined the Pacifica Graduate Institute
Board of Trustees.

THE LABYRINTH OF POSSIBILITY
What exactly happens between the patient and the analyst when therapy is
effective? Profoundly unsatisfied by the orthodox but vague explanation that “the
therapeutic factor is the relationship”, Giorgio Tricarico explores a hypothesis that
is able to comprehend many different methods of both therapy and analysis.
Starting from his own clinical experience, Tricarico runs into the image of the
classical labyrinth (Daidalon) and a deeper analysis of what this symbol implies,
revealing it as a symbol of “Possibility”. The worldwide presence in different
cultures and ages of the labyrinth as such a symbol may indeed point to the
existence of an element beyond it, whose activation in the relationship between
patient and analyst could be a fundamental factor for psychic change. Different
methods of cure, seen through the lenses of the hypothesis expressed, may share
a common factor of transformation. With the help of clinical cases, the concept of
“impossibility” in analysis is also explored. Situations in which every change
seems to be impossible compel us to widen our concept of possibility and to return
to its original meaning, far away from the omnipotent one the Western world
blindly keeps repeating.
