Life in a jar
Filmvisning med Helena Isaksson
”Life in a jar” – livet i en kruka – är titeln på en bok jag
fick i min hand för några år sedan. Den handlar om Irena
Sendlerowa, en katolsk, polsk sjuksköterska som räddade
livet på 2500 barn i Warszawas getto under andra världskriget. Hennes fascinerande historia spreds över världen
genom att en trulig, stökig skolflicka i Kansas, USA,
började göra ett arbete om henne. Hon fick hjälp av en
hängiven lärare och två skolkamrater. DVD:n jag tänker
visa berättar om, dels deras arbete och, dels Irena Sendlerowas historia. Svaret på frågan ”kan en enda människa
förändra världen?” ges i dessa två parallella berättelser.
C G Jung hävdar att ingen kan förändra världen, man kan
bara förädla sig själv och därigenom – kanske – ändra
världen. Liz, Megan och Sabrina är goda exempel på den

Ett samtal med Suzanne Gieser, fil dr och leg psykoterapeut
Vad menade Jung med att han inte behövde tro på Gud - för att han visste?
Hur kan vi förstå uttalandet? Eftermiddagen ägnas åt reflektion kring
detta uttalande som Jung gjorde i en intervju för BBC 1959. Somliga säger
att han ångrade det, och att det har missförståtts.
Vi inleder med några filmsnuttar där vi får höra och se Jung. Därefter
diskussion och gemensam reflektion.
Röda bokens texter och bilder kommer finnas på plats för att användas
som part i samtalet .

Mirror of the Present
An exploration of the I Ching
with Shantena Augusto Sabbadini
The I Ching is a formidable psychological system that endeavours
to organize the play of archetypes... into a certain pattern, so that
a
reading becomes possible. (C.G. Jung)
The I Ching is an ancient Chinese oracle, rooted in a shamanic tradition almost four thousand years old. Its images are a map
of
the dynamics of archetypal energies in and around us.
The most effective way to come to understand this map and to become familiar with it is by using it as a
mirror, opening a dialogue with it about a concrete situation we are presently involved in. We shall read the
images the oracle reflects back to us as if they were a dream offered in connection with the specific question we have asked. This will allow hidden symbolic dimensions of our situation to emerge into consciousness - and this enlarged perspective will help us align our choices with the flow of the "great river", with
the movement of Tao, and to act in a more aware and responsible way.
The work consists of:
An introduction to the I Ching and to the concept of synchronicity.
Formulating individual questions to the oracle
Learning the yarrow stalk consultation procedure
Interrogating the oracle
Reading the answers
The text we shall use is The Original I Ching Oracle, translated by Rudolf
Ritsema and myself (Watkins Publishing, 2005), the result of half a century of I Ching scholarship by Rudolf Ritsema and of a decade of oracular
studies conducted through the Round Table Sessions at Eranos, Ascona,
Switzerland. It is quite a special translation, conceived as a powerful tool for
psychological enquiry, which focuses primarily on the images conveyed by
these old shamanic texts and abstains as much as possible from any a priori
interpretation, allowing an interpretation to emerge from the interaction of
the consultant and her/his question with the oracular images.
This seminar is an introduction to the use of the I Ching both as a personal introspective tool and as a “formidable psychological system” applicable
to a variety of situations. The participants are expected to acquire sufficient
competence to be able to work with The Original I Ching Oracle on their
own.
Shantena Augusto Sabbadini (www.shantena.com) worked as a theoretical
physicist at the University of Milan, Italy, and at the University of California.
He was involved in research on the foundations of quantum physics and in
the first identification of a black hole. In the 1990's and early 2000's he helped
organize the Eranos Round Table Sessions and lectured at Eranos about the I
Ching, physics and philosophy. He is associate director of the Pari Center for
New Learning (www.paricenter.com). His most recent book in English is Tao
Te Ching: a guide to the interpretation of the foundational book of taoism.

The Pursuit of Diarmuid and Gráinne:
When woman pursues her desire
Föreläsning med Aileen Young
The story of the Pursuit of Diarmuid
and Gráinne comes from ancient
times in Ireland, the mythical time
of the Fianna, and their famous
chieftain, Finn Mac Cumhaill. It tells
of how the couple is pursued the
length and breadth of Ireland by Finn,
who was supposed to marry Gráinne.
He is obsessed with avenging the
shame and humiliation he suffered
when the couple eloped.
It is Gráinne who initiates the
pursuit of the couple by putting a
magical demand or curse - geis – on
Diarmuid to elope with her. She is a ‘wild woman’ who establishes sovereignty over her own life. This
presents an enormous challenge to the old patriarchal order, as symbolised by Finn.
In examining this ancient story I will elaborate the theme of feminine sovereignty, the challenges it
poses in masculine and feminine psychology, and what insights it might contribute to our development in
the 21st century.
Aileen Young is a Jungian Analyst (IAAP) working in private practice in north county Dublin, Ireland.
She has taught Jungian theory on various courses in Trinity College, and University College, Dublin. She
presented a paper in Trinity College in 2013 entitled: Gollum: Shadow, or Guide in the Darkness.
