TESTIMONY
It was September 2013 when I found out I had a
tumor. After two biopsies at Hershey I was told it
was cancer. I was looking at chemo and radiation. A
surgeon at NIH told me she thought she could help
me after chemo and radiation shrank the tumor, so
I started chemo in November. I knew God was in
control. I focused on Jeremiah 29:11 and read Psalms
every day. I did 28 days of radiation and started to
think “God is done with me” and my faith got weak. I
thank Him now for all the prayers and encouragement
from my church family.
do what they hoped because my veins were too thin,
but they did say that the tumor was small and very
hard. I know God heard all your prayers!
I had another MRI two months after surgery and the
tumor has not done anything. I am truly believing
God is not done with me yet and He answered all our
prayers. It has been a 13 month journey now and
I feel good. Through this trial God has blessed me
more than words can say. He brought my prodigal
son home along with his wife and our granddaughter.
The words thank you are not enough to express
how I feel about my church family and all the
encouragement you gave me
along with Joe and Sherry.
In January the tumor had shrunk but the surgeon told
me it didn’t shrink enough; she couldn’t help me and
that I should continue chemo. I thought, “God where
are you?” The doctor told me with aggressive chemo
I would have 12 to 15 months. We called Mayo Clinic
in Minnesota. I thought for sure this was from God
as doors were just opening. After many tests I came
back home for my last chemo and then returned to
Mayo in July. The tumor had shrunk considerably
and the surgeon said he thought he could help me.
Surgery was scheduled for August 22. I thought, “God,
you are awesome, thank you.” They were unable to
I am also thankful for
Jeremiah 31:3: “I have loved
you with an everlasting love.”
Praise God Always!!!

- Precept Upon Precept Bible Study
- DAUGHTERS OF THE KING
Daughters of the King Ladies Fellowship
This year, we will be tackling the books of Luke and
Acts in four parts. At one time these two books were
circulated as one volume until the order of the books
in the NT cannon were established and Luke was
placed with the other gospels. This study involves
homework broken into 5-day sections each of which
will take you approximately one hour to complete.
The title of Luke Part One is “Who Is This Man Who
Forgives Sin?” The class meets either on Mondays
from 7-9 p.m. or Wednesdays from 12-2 p.m. The
dates for the first class are September 8 to November
24. If you are interested, please contact Michele at

We welcome ladies of all ages, from teens through
great-grandmas, to join our monthly Bible fellowship
as we consider the Kings of the Old Testament. We

This fall our study will be on covenants. We are
working through the book entitled Covenant (from
LifeWay studies) by Kay Arthur. There will be some

Greencastle PMI has been busy this past month
sharing our Sexual Integrity Series with several young
women who are struggling in different areas of their
lives with past choices and desiring to make a new
start. Pray for these women as they face struggles in
their relationships with parents, husbands, boyfriends,
friends, and media. Ask the Lord to help them to see
each of these relationships in new and healthier ways
and that God would continue to mold them into the
young women, mothers, and spouses that He desires
for them to be. Pray for our staff and volunteers
as they minister truth and seek God’s wisdom and
discernment in sharing love and truth with each of
our clients.
Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
James 5:16: “Confess your faults one to another, and
pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The
effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
much.”
When we finish our study on covenants, our final
study to encourage our prayer life will be to answer
the question that we as believers are often asked,
“Lord, where are you when bad things happen?” In
this workbook, our studies will take us to the book of
Habakkuk. Can we say with Habakkuk, “though the
fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on
the vines, though the yield of the olive should fail and
the fields produce no food, though the flock should
be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the
stalls, yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the
God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength,
and He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, and makes
me walk on my high places.”

YOUTH NEWS
What exactly is
Mystery Night…?
Who knows! As the
name suggests, the
evening’s activities
are unknown to
the attendees. This
year, Mystery Night
took the youth
group to a remote
field where there
was a blazing fire. The fire’s intention was to give us a
very small representation of what hell, our subject for
the night, might be like. Lee gave the students a well
prepared informative and thought provoking message
about hell. He also dealt with some questions such as,
“Why would a loving God send people to hell?” and,
“What happens to a person in hell?” While having
fun, the evening confirmed and taught me a few
concepts regarding hell. – Nathan Fulton
sure of where we are going when we die. Not
just where we are going, but where our friends
and family are going as well. First we do need to
be 100% sure that we are going to Heaven, but
we also need to be sharing the gospel with our
friends and family so that they can go to Heaven,
not Hell. I found this lesson very challenging,
and believe it was challenging to all the others
who were there. Not only do we need to be
constantly evaluating our lives on how we stand
with God, but also spreading Christ’s love and the
gospel with everyone, so that they can hopefully be in
Heaven with us someday! Hell is real, and we need to
treat it that way by making sure we and those around
us are on the path with Christ! - Julie Sipes
Mystery Night was yet again another success. We
spent our Sunday evening sitting on a hillside looking
at a huge bonfire, We could feel the heat of the fire
and watch
the flames
light up the
night. This
bonfire
however
symbolized
hell. This
was a visual
reminder
of eternity
without
Christ in our lives. As a teenager in high school we
sometimes get distracted of what is truly important
in our lives. We need to tell our friends and others
around us of the saving grace of Jesus. We all need
to be certain of where we will spend eternity. Thank
you Lee for helping us to continue to grow in our walk
with the Lord. – Emily Tressler
Mystery night this year was great and very
challenging! We rode in the bus to the Poper’s house,
where we had a short tractor ride to the main event.
Along the path of the ride, there were little flames
lighting our path, and we knew we arrived when
before us there was a huge bonfire. While the fire was
very cool and exciting, there was deeper meaning
behind it all. For the main message, Lee talked about
how Hell is real. Many people, including Christians
today, believe that Hell is make-believe. Well it is
completely real, and Lee wanted to describe it to us
and share how important it is for us to know where
we are going when we die. Hell is an absolutely
terrible place, full of pain and eternal flames. He did
not mean to scare us by describing it, but he simply
wanted to tell us what the Bible says about Hell and
how terrible it will be if we do not make the decision
to follow Christ. This led him to impress on us to be

THANK YOU NOTE
Also, a special thanks to Pastor Rick for visiting me in
Baltimore, and battling that traffic and parking.
Dear Calvary Bible Church,
Thank you so much for
your support each
month towards our
ministry here in
Uganda. We’re so
humbled and grateful
for that – there are so many
opportunities for ministry and
practical ways to help hurting people here. We also
are so grateful for your faithful prayers on our behalf!
Thank you!! It’s such a privilege for us to have friends
like you on our ministry team!
I’m back on another road to recovery but only time
will tell with this infection. I may be on antibiotics
up to one year. Liz has been a great nurse, taking care
of my drains and IV’s daily at our house. I am feeling
stronger every day and hope to be back in church real
soon.
God bless each and every one of you, and thank you
once again.
Love to all,
Phil and Liz O’Connell
It took a while, but we feel quite at home here now,
and are blessed to have this opportunity to share
the love of Jesus with people in this part of East
Africa. There are so many differences between life
and culture here, versus Indonesia. But in the end,
the theme is still the same. There’s a lot of hurting
folks here – and we’re just taking it one day at a time,
trying to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the ones
He puts in our path. Frankly, it could easily become
overwhelming, if one were to look at the whole
picture here, all at once, and feel the “weight” of it
all. There are just SO MANY people here that are in
desperate situations – but we remember that it’s HIS
work, and He loves them each, more than we ever
could. So we have to surrender those feelings to Him,
and trust the many to Him, and focus on glorifying
Him in the ones that He leads us to, one by one. And
in that, we’ve been so encouraged. Thanks for being a
part of it all!

Enjoy the Autumn season – our favorite time of year

Thank you so much for the care package that you

contributions to my care package.
Dear Brothers and Sisters at Calvary Bible Church,
We trust you had a good Sunday as you worshiped
together and we pray that the Lord gives you a good
week. May He use all our lives in a mighty way this
week.
We just want to take a moment to thank you for your
gift of support last month. You are a real part of this
ministry and a great blessing to our lives. We are
deeply grateful. May the Lord bless you richly as you
serve Him in your corner of the world. We deeply
appreciate your continued prayers.

Mission Update
LEE AND TINA NUNEMAKER – FOLLOWING HIS PATH
Many of you have asked us
about our desire to serve
God full time in Haiti.
Here’s our story.
these long term and
strategic partnerships,
two churches from
vastly different cultures
join together with the
purpose of transforming
one another and their
communities spiritually,
physically, and socially.
24 years ago, I (Lee) took
a mission trip to Haiti.
While floating down a
river with missionary Dan
Shoemaker, he said, “Too
many people are willing
to go to the mission field,
but are planning on staying
home.” He explained how
that should be reversed; people should be planning
on going to the mission field, but willing to stay home.
Twenty years later, in the summer of 2010, Tina and
I led a mission’s team to Haiti. While spending some
time at the beach one day, the possibility of full-time
ministry with RMI was presented to us.
Once we move to Haiti,
I (Lee) am excited to
direct and oversee the
C3 Partnerships, invest
in leadership development, and serve as a team
facilitator. I look forward to being able to experience
the best of both worlds by working alongside and
making an impact in over 150 Haitian church
communities as well as serving over 30 churches
from the states. Our family will have the opportunity
to impact the lives of individuals from both countries
through evangelism, discipleship, social compassion,
education, and community development. Tina’s
primary ministry will be taking care of our family,
as well as determining her exact niche within RMI,
which could involve women’s ministry, assisting with
the hospitality of teams, or other areas of need.
Before we could make a decision, we felt strongly that
our children should have a say. So in March of 2012,
our whole family packed up and made the journey
to Haiti for two weeks. While there, our boys were
able to experience the sights, smells, and ministry
opportunities that may await us. Without hesitation,
and to our surprise, they were ready to jump in with
both feet! Tina and I, however, felt the need, like
Jonah, to question God’s need of us in Haiti, when
there was so much for us to do here at home. It took
much prayer for us to finally make the decision in
late August of 2012 to move forward in preparing for
fulltime ministry with RMI in Haiti.
RMI is a “faith mission”
which means we have the
responsibility of raising 100%
of our prayer and financial
support through individuals
and churches. This includes
a monthly commitment of
almost $7,000 as well as a one-time moving and set
up cost of $70,000. These funds include our shipping
container, travel costs, insurances, housing, utilities,
vehicles, generator and other specialty items needed
in Haiti.
Dan Shoemaker,
the missionary
of 24 years ago,
now serves
as President
of Reciprocal
Ministries
International
(RMI). RMI is
an evangelical, interdenominational, faith-based
mission agency that was established over 25 years
ago. Their mission is to facilitate cross-cultural global
partnerships to transform lives in Christ. Through

the Center for Intercultural Training in NC, and then
begin to move towards the field.
In order to get to the field and begin serving we need
individuals to join us in investing in God’s ministry
of making a strategic difference and transforming
peoples’ lives, through prayer and financial support.
We will not be able to do this on our own. This
is bigger than us, but with the generous help of
individuals and God’s blessing, we will embark on this
new beginning!

In the meantime, we are grateful and thankful to have
the opportunity to be able to serve you during this

Not Ashamed to Pray
Perhaps one of the biggest stumbling blocks in
our prayer life and our relationship with Christ
is disappointment. We are disappointed in our
spiritual life, job, country, church, and perhaps
even our family.
who was “not ashamed” of his chains. He invited
Timothy to share in his sufferings through God’s
power. Then earlier in his letter to the Philippians,
he tells them that his imprisonment has furthered
the gospel not frustrated it (1:12-14). And more so,
his bonds have emboldened believers to preach
without fear.
If we get to the heart of the issue, our
disappointment is directed not at these areas of
our lives but at God. We may ask: How could he
allow this (circumstance) to happen? Why isn’t he
helping me overcome these sin issues in my life?
Why isn’t he rewarding me for my hard work? Why
isn’t he bringing about revival in our nation? Why
isn’t he working in our children’s hearts?
As we pray for the persecuted church, let us first
evaluate our relationship with Christ. Spend some
time alone with God, asking him to reveal any areas
of your life where you are disappointed in him. If
we allow ourselves to be honest, have we accused
him of being indifferent toward our trials? Are we
viewing our current sufferings as an obstacle for
the gospel or an opportunity? Agree with him that
your disappointment ultimately is sin. Thank him
that he uses all things for his good purposes, and
then stand on what’s true about him: Jesus is the
chief cornerstone (Matthew 21:42); the earth is his
and all it contains (Psalm 24:1); and he is the “ruler
over the kings of the earth” (Revelation 1:5).
The apostle Paul had every “right” to be
disappointed in God. Paul was given a dramatic
salvation experience and was launched into
ministry. People were coming to Christ; religious
and government officials were being convicted. It
couldn’t get any better than that, could it? It did.
Paul was thrown in jail. There he wrote several
letters, which today are cornerstones of the
Christian faith.
Then start praying for your persecuted family who
is inviting you to fellowship in their sufferings
according to God’s power.
Yet Paul saw his chains not as a disappointment
or a setback, but as an opportunity. He wrote
to Timothy, advising him not to be ashamed of
him, and used Onesiphorus as an example of one

India, Burkina Faso, and Madagascar Trip Update

for the cooking competition!
She and her husband
had not talked for nine days over an argument, but
God convicted her of her bitterness before she could
translate for the conference. God worked in many
other ways through this conference and it was a
blessing to witness some immediate changes in
hearts!
About 80 women and girls attended the Become Free
Conference which focused on forgiveness. This was
the third year the Become Conference has been offered
in this town for this group of girls. The Conference
lasted four days with main sessions and small group
times interspersed with fun activities such as a
cooking competition! On Saturday evening we had
a cross service where the girls and women had the
opportunity to write down the names of people God
had brought to mind that they needed to forgive.
They could then lay those names at the foot of the
cross where the ultimate act of Forgiveness was
demonstrated. Many came forward with names to
lay at the cross. One girl told her small group about
her story of forgiveness: Right after the cross service
she went home and told her uncle she had chosen to
forgive him. Her uncle would constantly yell at her
and tell her how worthless she was but after this girl
told him that she forgave him he started to cry and
said he didn’t know how much his hurtful words had
affected her. One of the women who was to translate
After India, I went to Burkina Faso and then
Madagascar. My purpose was to see what CEF (Child
Evangelism Fellowship) looks like overseas as well as
to visit two friends who went to the CEF headquarter
training at the same time I did. Africa is very open to
the Bible and invite CEF to do their religion classes or
just do a Bible club in the classroom. The teachers
love the break from the kids and often just left the
classroom while the club takes place! In
Burkina Faso I was able to attend some of
the teacher trainings my friend taught, but
since CEF is fairly new there, the people do
not see the need to evangelize children yet.
In Madagascar the ministry is flourishing
with a full committee and volunteers to
teach clubs all over the Island! I also
did some touristy things while in these
countries like sitting on a live “sacred”
crocodile in Burkina Faso, and walking
through the rainforest to see lemurs in
Madagascar!
The Become
Conference!
I did a skit for the cross ceremony where
I had a bag full of bricks (burden of
unforgiveness) and I laid the burden at the
cross (symbol of forgiveness).
Thank you for all your prayers for me!

PASTOR RICK’S MISSION TRIP –
Sunday in the Himalayas -
The Timothy
Leadership Institute
(TLI) is a program
designed to provide
basic Bible and
ministry training for
men who are already
faithfully serving in
ministry but have not
been to Bible School.
The TLI is a 3-year
program, involving
approximately 10 days
of training for each
of the three years. We
focus on men who are ministering
in rural areas, especially those who
target areas that do not have a Gospel
witness.
From October 1-23, 2014, a TLI was
held in the northeastern Indian state
of West Bengal, in the mountain
town of Mirik. Mirik is located at
about 5200 feet above sea level in
the Himalayan foothills. It is centrally
located for pastors who are working
in rural eastern Nepal and the remote areas of West
Bengal, some of which are accessible only by foot.
Hope and Help is thankful for the teachers and
students who participated in this Timothy Leadership
Institute, as well as those who supported this ministry
financially and through prayer. Each one involved in
any way has a part in taking the light of the Gospel
into the dark areas of northeastern India and Nepal.
This was the second year of the TLI with the group
in Mirik. They studied Personal Spiritual Growth as
well as Missions, Evangelism and Discipleship. The
27 students were in class from about 9am - 5pm each
day, learning skills that will help them to minister
more effectively.
Thank you so much for allowing Rick to come and
work with us in this mission field!
The teachers for this TLI were Rick Wolgamott, Joel
Gilbert and Fletcher Honemond. The teachers not only
lectured on the subject matter but also made an effort
to get to know the students, learn of their challenges,
visit them in their ministry sites, and to pray together.

(John 3:16-17) “For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God
sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through Him might be saved.”
(Matthew 9:37-38) “Then Jesus said to His disciples, The
harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few; Pray
ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send
forth laborers into His harvest.”
