* PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES TONIGHT AND TOMORROW
Hinsdale Central Parent Teacher Conferences Login
PTC’s are scheduled for TONIGHT - Thursday, November 6 & during the school day on Friday, November 7. As a
reminder, Friday, November 7 is a non-attendance day, for students, so that parents and teachers may conference
about a student’s academic progress.
Please login to the parent teacher conference portal (above) using your username and password to retrieve your
schedule before you arrive for your conferences. The username and password is the same one that was used to
initially request conferences. If you do not remember your username and password, click the link in the portal
indicating “Need help remembering your password?” and it will ask for your email address you have on file with
the school. This should assist you in logging in to retrieve your schedule.
* FAMILIES HELPING FAMILIES IN NEED OF DONATIONS
Did you know that there are students and their families at Central that:






don’t have enough food to make lunch or money to buy lunch
are in need of warm coats and boots for the winter
can’t afford to buy books/basic supplies, pay club dues, or get sports physicals
have parents that can’t make ends meet and are in need of
- Gift cards (Target, Jewel, Walmart) to fill empty food cupboards
- Gas cards to get to work
can’t afford to see a dentist or doctor and often have medical needs go untreated
have no internet access or computers to complete homework
Hard to believe that this could happen in our community, but it does.
Your son or daughter can be sitting right next to one of these students in class.
Families Helping Families is a PTO organization of volunteers who act at the request of our fantastic HC Social Workers
to help Central students and their families with basic needs and assist in a crisis situation.
We are fully funded by the generous donations of our Hinsdale Central families.
Tables will be set up at the entrance of Parent-Teacher Conferences and we are asking you to please consider making
a donation. Gift cards from Jewel, Walmart, Target, gas cards, cash or checks (payable to HCHS PTO) would be
greatly appreciated. Any amount is helpful!
Thank you for your consideration and generosity!
(Questions: email Judy Mulvenna or Sandy Lagestee at [email protected])
Visit our table at Parent-Teacher Conferences on Nov. 6 & 7.
CONSTRUCTION
Beginning Wednesday, October 29, the east access road along the staff lot will be closed. The access road is being
used to house construction traffic during the renovation of the softball field. We apologize for the inconvenience, but
hope this construction project provides a much needed facility upgrade for our softball teams. Staff, students and
parents should drive with extreme caution while navigating the limited drive space we have on our campus. Please
plan extra travel time into your daily commute to accommodate the closed access road on the eastern most point of
the Hinsdale Central campus.
PARENT PARTICIPATION DAY
Our annual Parent Participation Day is on Wednesday, November 19. The purpose of this day is for parents to have an
opportunity to spend all, or part, of a regular school day attending their child’s classes. We believe that parents
benefit by knowing, as realistically as possible, what their student experiences each day. The day does present some
logistical problems for us, mostly due to “space,” we do not have much extra space in classrooms or
parking. Therefore, we ask that each family only have one parent participate at a time so that there is space in
classrooms. Parking is a more vexing issue. With the staff and student parking lots full, we do not have any parking
for parents. In addition to the circle drive parking on Grant Street and 55th Street, parking will be available on 57th
Street between Garfield & Madison (north side only). Please pay close attention to the signs that will be posted. We
recommend that parents arrange to be dropped-off and picked-up.
The Teacher Training Room, 124B will be available as a coatroom for parents where the PTO will provide coffee, water,
and treats. We do ask that parents follow their child’s schedule, attend the whole class - not enter late or leave early.
In addition, we ask that all electronic devices are silenced or powered-down to respect the learning environment.
INTERNSHIP MENTOR WANTED
Hinsdale Central’s Career Internship program is looking for a mentor in the field of construction. The student must
work 40 hours outside of the school day. Interns are not paid and must be interviewed prior to the internship. If you
or if someone you know can place an intern at your/their business please contact Karen Russo

School based support plans (i.e., Response to Intervention, Section 504 plans, and Individualized Education Programs)
can be complex, mysterious and frustrating to understand. Many parents of students who struggle often complain
that they simply “don’t know what they don’t know” and have a difficult time understanding what they can really ask
for under each framework. Join educational consultant and lay advocate Dr. Matthew Wanzenberg. Wanzenberg holds
a doctorate of ‘Philosophy in Special Education Policy’, a masters in ‘Transition Service for Young Adults with
Disabilities’, a bachelors in ‘Physical Impairments and Learning Disabilities,’ and has facilitated over 2500 IEP meetings.
