Hallowe’en Party October 24 At Jennings Car Barn
Keeping with recent tradition,
WMJR members gathered at the
Jennings Car Barn for a Hallowe’en Pot Luck Dinner dressed in
spooky attire from the ears up.
This allowed us to retain dignity
appropriate for Jaguar owners of a
certain age, while indulging our
inner ghouls with crazy head gear.
After a car barn tour, admiring
each other’s top knots and enjoying the culinary contributions,
two friendly competitions were
offered by the hosts — a mental
picture / word puzzle, and a bean
bag toss. Attendees were gifted
with needle point tissue holders
(ladies) and British national flags
(gents).
All in all a terrific time was had
by all.
Attending were: Jerry
Gill and Denise Cummins, Ken and JoAnn
Borg, Susan and Mike
Cady, Craig and Janine
Call, John and Liz
Green, Barry and Allison
Hanover.
Joe and Judy Todd,
Marvin and Connie May
along with Connie's sister (sorry I didn’t make
note of her name), Jim
and Hermione Klekas,
Duane
and
LeAnn
Allred, Bud and Betty
Merritt, and your obedient
scribe
Gary
Lindstrom.
Special thanks go out as always to
hosts J and Kay Jennings and
Michelle and Ed Higbee.

Annual WMJR Christmas Party
6:30pm Tuesday December 2 at Spice Bistro
The WMJR Christmas Party tradition will be renewed this year at a
new venue: Spice Bistro, 6121 S.
Highland Drive in Holladay
(phone 801-930-9855, web site

be leery of its, well, lively taste.
Last year we had a great time at
an Italian restaurant, but the table
service for our large group tended
to slow things down. So, this
year we’re opting for two changes: a buffet format, and a different
international cuisine: Indian.
We realize that some folks love
Indian food so much they could
eat it every day —in fact, rumor
has it that approximately one billion people do this at home on the
Subcontinent—while others can
And once again we’ll uphold the
tradition of exchanging gifts of
modest luxury (e.g. $10, or 6.25
British pounds). These can be
earmarked for guys or gals or both
(do we have any of those?).
Gifts with a Jaguar connection are
always prized, but any nifty item
will be appreciated.
Rest assured that the buffet will
contain mild dishes mostly,
with a few spicy curries and
plenty of hot sauces for optional garnishing.
Note the date has changed to one
day earlier than originally announced, due to conflict with an
athletic event at the U. Dinner
cost will be about $25 a person.
‘twill be a great way to kick off
the holiday season — we hope to
see you there.

The Sexes, Beer and Jaguars
Woman:
Do you drink beer?
Man:
About 20 years, I suppose.
Man:
Yes.
Woman:
So a beer costs $5 and you have 3
beers a day which puts your spending each month at $450. In one year,
it would be approximately $5,400
correct?
Woman:
How many beers a day?
Man:
Usually about 3.
Woman:
How much do you pay per beer?
Man:
$5.00 which includes a tip.
Woman:
And how long have you been drinking?
Man:
Correct.
Woman:
If in 1 year you spend $5,400, not
accounting for inflation, the past 20
years puts your spending at
$108,000, correct?
Man:
Correct.
Woman:
Do you know that if you didn't drink
so much beer, that money could have
been put in a step-up interest savings
account and after accounting for
compound interest for the past 20
years, you could have now bought a
new Jaguar F-Type R?
Man:
Do you drink beer?
Woman:
No.
Man:
Where's your Jaguar?
