Connecting with Others at Convergence
Wireless Internet Access
In addition to the great line-up of sessions and content that Convergence offers,
networking is one of the most valuable aspects of this event. Here are a few ways that
you can easily connect with others.
While you are attending Convergence, please feel free to connect to and use one of
the following: Convergence-5GHz and Convergence.
Convergence Experience Center (CEC)
Whether you want to connect with product experts, or exhibiting partners, or with other delegates, the
Convergence Experience Center brings this opportunity together in one central spot! See page 40 for more
information on what the CEC offers.
Additionally, please make sure you are not connected to an AD-HOC/Peer-to-Peer network, and ensure
that you are in an area that supports WiFi.
Also, don’t miss the Convergence Experience Reception on 4 November from 19:00–21:00, and the
Convergence Experience Happy Hour on 5 November from 17:00–18:00 — two great opportunities to mingle
and network while enjoying some refreshments!
Country Lounges: Connect with other delegates and Microsoft team members from within your country or
region. Lounges are located throughout the CEC.
Roundtable Discussions: Discuss focused topics with other delegates that are in the same industry or role as
you. This is a great way to network, while also gaining some valuable ideas and insights from other likeminded individuals. For times, consult the agenda or Schedule Builder.
User Groups: Spend time with fellow delegates who use the same Microsoft Dynamics products as you.
The user groups are located in the Microsoft Solutions Experience.
QR Codes on Badges: If you opted-in to include a QR code on your conference badge, you can use the
event app to quickly scan and share contact information with others.
Skype Stations: In addition to connecting with delegates at the event, take the opportunity to connect
with others back home or at the office! Skype stations with headsets and video capabilities are available
on level 1 near the entrance to hall 8.1.
Get Social: Join the conversation with other delegates - our event hashtag is #CONV14. Engage with us on
Facebook and LinkedIn as well to stay connected.
Convergence Experience Reception
On Tuesday evening 4 November from 19:00–21:00, join us at the Convergence Experience Reception, which
takes place right in the center of the action, in the Convergence Experience Center! This is your opportunity
to experience the hottest solutions and offerings from our partners, and to network with your peers—all while
enjoying refreshments and canapés!
When you are prompted for a password please use: dynamics
The Convergence-5GHz network is the higher performing network with more available channels, faster
speeds, and is available throughout the convention center and keynote hall. If your WiFi device sees the
Convergence-5GHz network please select it. Due to the user load in congested areas, you may experience
a slow connection or have difficulty connecting to the network at times. If that is the case, you may want to
move to a less congested area. Rogue APs can cause problems for attendees attempting to use the wireless
system and can degrade WiFi performance for everyone. Personal APs or base-stations of any kind should
not be used inside the convention center or keynote hall.
Security and the Convergence Wireless Network
The wireless network at Convergence is a shared network, designed to require minimal configuration by
attendees. We have enabled WPA security protocol, though we do recommend that you be prudent in
securing your resources, as you should on any public wireless network.
Be a Good Wireless Neighbor
Please be considerate and share available bandwidth with your fellow delegates. Downloading large video
files from a video sharing service, for example, consumes a disproportionate amount of bandwidth, and
negatively impacts the experience of your fellow delegate.
In order for Microsoft to deliver a robust and dependable wireless experience for all Convergence attendees,
we ask that you read and follow these best practices prior to connecting to the wireless or wired networks:
Updates:
 Install all critical patches and updates for your operating system. Windows Update
is included in Control Panel.
 Download and install the latest anti-virus signatures for your software.
 Ensure that your personal firewall software is active.
General:
 Ensure that your system is set to Infrastructure wireless use only and is not associating to,
or broadcasting, ad-hoc networks.
 Monitor your connections—do not connect to the wireless and wired networks at the same time.
Liability for Damage or Loss of Data
Microsoft will not be responsible for any damages to your computer or device, or loss of data caused by
accessing the Convergence wireless network, or by your inability to access it.

Avoid Being a Victim
Distraction Theft
Often a team of two or more thieves will approach you, distract you with conversation or by telling you that
you have dropped something, etc. A person will follow close behind you and accidentally bump into you. At
the same time the thieves remove your wallet or purse, etc. This is very common at Metro/Rail stations.
Deception Theft
Criminals purporting to be plain-clothes Police Officers or officials ask to see your identification and search
you. During their search of your belongings they will steal from you.
Metro Stations and Trains
Many thefts occur in busy trains without you even knowing. These can be avoided with a few simple
precautions. Don’t allow people to push up against you or distract you. Keep your hand on your wallet or
phone in crowded trains. Don’t get into conversations with strangers and be aware at all times of pickpockets
Safety at Night
Thieves target areas near busy bars and clubs. Try not to leave a bar alone late at night. Be conscious of
people who come up to you and start talking for no reason—move on if approached. If a stranger says they
are police then ask for identification and check it! Do not to advertise the fact that you are a visitor to the
area. Do not carry large sums of cash.
Shuttle Services
There are no shuttle services provided between hotels
and the convention center. There will be a complimentary
shuttle service from the EUROPA-FIRA metro station and
the convention center, which will depart approximately
every 15 minutes. The service will commence 15 minutes
before registration opening.

 Maintain physical or eye contact with your belongings at all times.
 Be aware of your surroundings and who is near you.
 Know where you are and where the risk areas are located.
Your Personal Safety
Microsoft is committed to helping you keep yourself and your possessions safe and secure while attending
this event. Please take the time to read these tips and remember to keep safety in mind at all times while you
are with us. The techniques used by criminals to steal are varied, and we hope to familiarize you with some
of these.
General Theft
Do not leave your laptop, mobile telephone or handbag unattended at any time. The theft of these items
from restaurants, cafés, and shops when left hanging on the rear of chairs is common.
Hotel Theft
14
 Always use your room safe.
 Always use your cable lock for your laptop even in your room.
 Do not leave valuables, passport etc. lying around at any time.
 Check your room door HAS actually locked shut when you leave it.

Sessions
Tracks at Convergence
Each session held at Convergence 2014 Europe is mapped to a specific track. These
tracks are one of the many ways that you as a delegate can identify which sessions

or are looking to evaluate another product for future deployment in your business,
Convergence offers you the freedom to choose what you want to learn and which
sessions will benefit you most.
Microsoft Dynamics AX
The Microsoft Dynamics AX track is for IT and business professionals and decision makers to explore
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 industry and functional capabilities, mobile user experiences, and cloud

to utilize big technology trends, such as mobility, cloud, machine learning and Internet of Things to help you
maximize the business value of your Microsoft technology investment.
Discover, learn, explore, and ask questions. And don’t miss the opportunity to network with other
delegates, share best practices with peers, and connect with partners. It’s a great place to meet the
Microsoft Dynamics AX team and interact with other members of the Microsoft Dynamics community.
Cross Product
Solutions and services that span multiple Microsoft product solutions reside within the Cross Product track
so that delegates can gain the greatest visibility on the sessions most relevant to their needs. Topics ranging
from Connector for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, to Microsoft SQL and managing implementations are included
this year. Be sure to review the specific products noted within these sessions to ensure that the topics apply to
your deployment or interests.
Business Leadership
Take time for yourself and attend sessions geared to enhance your personal leadership skills! The Business

explore how Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 is quick to implement, easy to use, and has the power to support
your ambitions for your business. Breakout and Deep Dive session topics in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV
