Overview:
The PAPSA/EPSA has the pleasure to organize the that will be held in Cairo on
November 9-10, 2014..
This workshop will provide an excellent opportunity for all participants to reach a
consensus in the management of many of these challenging problems. Many experts
in this field will discuss difficult cases, and demonstrate surgical techniques during
live surgery.
Objectives of this workshop:
•
to overview the wide spectrum Disorders of Sex Development (DSD)
•
to define the principles of management of DSD.
•
to provide the participants with simple approach to reach a definitive
diagnosis and to help him/ her in decision making
•
to show various surgical techniques through the broadcasting of videos, oral
presentations, live surgery
•
to allow intensive interaction between pediatric endocrinologists, surgeons,
DSD experts and the participants.

Overview:
The PAPSA/EPSA has the pleasure to organize the Minimal Invasive Pediatric
Surgery Workshop that will be held in Cairo on November 11-12, 2014. Minimal
Invasive Surgery (MIS) in children is steadily growing in Africa. There are some wellestablished MIS centers, particularly in North and South Africa.
This event the will be held also in collaboration with the Middle East chapter of IPEG
celebrating its first activity.
This workshop will provide an excellent opportunity for all participants to follow the
rapid progress in pediatric MIS, and to meet some of the experts in this field. For
participants from medium and low resource areas in Africa, it might be the proper
time to ask help from experts and industrial companies to arrange similar workshops
in their countries. PAPSA can help in this regard.
Participants will understand several basic and advanced laparoscopic
approaches in pediatric surgery, having the opportunity to view different live cases in
the operating room.
.
Objectives of this workshop:
•
to cover a broad spectrum of MIS surgical procedures in various
pediatric age groups
•
to provide indications for MIS surgical treatment and discuss operative
complications
•
to show various techniques of surgical interventions (basic and
advanced) through the broadcasting of videos, oral presentations, live surgery
•
to highlight tricks and pitfalls in the different procedures
•
to allow intensive interaction between surgeons, experts and the
audience
•
To provide hands-on sessions to improve skills in laparoscopic
surgery through practice on live tissue under experts‘ tutorials

Overview:
Greenwood Overseas Skills Course Fund was designed by the British Association of
Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS)
to allow a small faculty of trainers familiar with the
BAPS/RCS England Paediatric Surgical Skills Course to travel overseas for a three
day visit to provide simulation training.
The
Pan
African
Pediatric
Surgical Association (PAPSA)
has hosted this course three times
before in Accra, Ghana(2008),
Dar Esalam, Tanzania (2010),
and Cape Town, South Africa
(2012) just prior to the biennial
congress of PAPSA.
There was a positive feedback
from the previous participants.
We are pleased to organize the
fourth
Greenwood
Overseas
neonatal surgical Skills Course
in Learning Resource Centre
(LRC) in Faculty of Medicine,
Cairo on 11 November 2014..
The course is one day long with
the day before set aside for preparation and training the local trainers.
Number of registrants is dependent on the local facilities. This year the expected
numbers will range from 30 – 40 registrants. Due to limited number, early registration
is highly advised.
Objectives of this course:
1.
to provide hands on training for
surgeons, trainees and health
professionals in newborn surgery
so that independence can be
reached from external source.
2.
To train a group of PAPSA
trainers (TOT) on tips and tricks
on how to run such course with
available resources
