After completing a paper on drugs with the theme “Don’t Let Drugs Cripple You”, the Project Go Kids took a trip to
Cripple Creek. Below are some pictures from that field trip. Project Go ! is an after school program for our housing
kids between the ages of 7 and 15. They can go there after school and get help with their homework and have fun
doing other activities. The program is open on school days from 3-6. Project Go! is also open in the summer at extended hours. For more information call Priscilla Murray at 615-893-1802.

Activities
MHA Resident Thanksgiving Bingo
Holiday Shopping Spree
Come join us for Bingo at the MHA’s main office on
November 21st from 10:30 A.M. - 1:30 P.M.. We
will be doing a Thanksgiving craft to celebrate
Thanksgiving starting at 10:30, eating a Thanksgiving dinner at 11:15, and playing bingo at 12:15.
On the 14th of November, starting at 9:00 a.m.,
MHA will pick up residents to go on a Holiday Shopping
spree at the Premium Outlet in Lebanon, TN. (about
20Minutes away) For lunch, you can bring your own lunch
or eat at the Outlet’s DiCicco’s Pizzeria or Franks & Patties.
You may want to bring between $5 and $10 for lunch. We’ll
be back home around 1:30pm.

Imagination Station (Sponsored
by Read to Succeed)
Parents/Guardians bring your pre-school (2-5
year old) child to the Franklin Heights Family
Learning and Resource Center to participate in a parent/child
reading activity. Free books and snacks will be available.

host Imagination Station every 3rd Wednesday of the

Thrifty Thursday Financial Class
Need help managing your money or credit? If you answered yes, then this class is for you. Every 3rd
Thursday of the month at 9 A.M. this class is held at the
Franklin Heights Family Learning and Resource Center and is
sponsored by Pinnacle Bank. You must RSVP a couple of days
before the class by calling (615) 474-1078. A lite breakfast will
be served.

“Mom and Me”
Food Distribution
On November 12th starting at 1 P.M at the Franklin
Heights Family Learning and Resource Center, parents
and their pre-school children will interact by playing games and
activities. This is for mothers with children ages 0-5 and provides an outlet to discuss the joys and stresses of parenting. For

On the 4th Thursday of every month, the
Franklin Heights Family Learning and Resource
Center will have a food distribution day starting
at 9 a.m. You must call a week in advance if
you plan to attend by calling Candy Clifford at

GED Classes
This class is offered free of charge. The class meets every Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 A.M.—12:00 P.M. This course
lasts from August to June and assists adults in preparing to
attain their GED.

Bread and Sweets
Every 1st Thursday of the month the Franklin Heights Family Learning and Resource Center has bread and sweets available on a first come fist serve basis
starting at 9 a.m..

Computer Class
Every Monday in November the Franklin
Heights Family Learning and Resource Center
will have interns from MTSU teach basic computer skills
starting at 11 A.M. and ending at 12 P.M.

Third Annual Veteran's Day Tea Party
We are having the 3rd annual Veterans Day Tea Party
on Monday, November 10th from 2-4 P.M. in the
MHA Auditorium. If you are a veteran, we want to honor you

Announcements and General Information
Yard Inspections
Every Tuesday the Maintenance Department will
inspect each and every yard. If the following violations are noted they will be corrected by our staff
and you will be charged accordingly:
•
Picking up trash in the yard—$20
•
Removing indoor furniture from porch/yard,
swing sets, swimming pools, etc.—$20
•
The Murfreesboro Lions Club would like to invite your
6th through 12th grade student to participate in a anti-drug
essay contest. This year the theme is “Why I Will Lead a
Drug Free Life”. The local Lions Club will pay $150 to the 1st
place winner, $100 to the 2nd place winner, and $75 to the 3rd place winner!
The winning essays will then go to the district level where 1st is $500, 2nd is
$250, and 3rd is $100! If your student is interested, please visit your nearest
Project Go! or call Donald Smith at (615)225-9484. All essays are due November 15th. All Murfreesboro Housing residents who participate will be able
to attend a pizza party!

Maintenance Calls—After Hours
Emergencies
The number to call for after hours emergencies is 893-9414 option 2. Keep in mind that if
maintenance is called to your apartment
after hours and it is not an emergency you
will be charged for the visit.

Emergencies consist of:

Investigating gas leaks;
•
Light heater pilots when temp is
below 50 degrees;
•
Water leaks that create a safety
hazard;
•
Three scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors
with a minimum of a “B” average. Applicant must have lived in our
affordable housing unit for his/her entire senior year. An application, verification page, school transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a essay is
required. One scholarship must have an additional essay. For more information,

is only available to our residents who live in MHA housing, including families
with Housing Choice vouchers.
