2nd International Symposium on Climate Change
Common aims and shared responsibility
A disproportionate burden from global climate change will be placed solely on developing countries – many of which
already encounter considerable challenges and may lack the resources to combat threats to environmental,
economic and social development. Climate justice is the concept that encapsulates this stark reality: those that will
be most seriously affected by climate change today and in the future are the least responsible
responsib for the shift in Earth’s
climate.
The Klimahaus ® Bremerhaven 8° Ost is hosting an international symposium in cooperation with the German Climate
Foundation and the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen to facilitate solutions that more equitably distribute the
th burden
of climate change. The symposium serves as a forum to explore the current state of international climate justice and
climate change adaptation measures. It will examine the latest political and administrative updates in the field of
action and facilitate and strengthen exchanges between north and south initiatives, with a focus on increasing the
dialogue between projects in the global south.

Fair mechanisms of climate change mitigation and adaptation
Successful climate partnerships on sustainable energy and water management, improving climate change
adaptability, and education for sustainable development
Generate new „bottom-up“

strategies to bolster mechanisms that enable the pricing of greenhouse gas
emissions and accelerate climate adaptation measures in the global south
We would like to invite you to discuss your experiences with those of international experts from NGO’s, universities,
global corporations,, the public administration, international organizations and people who are interested in the
concept of climate justice. In addition, the symposium will feature a cultural event,

world in the permanent exhibition at the Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° Ost as well as free admission to “Bremen is
Engaged”, a regional engagement for climate justice.

Regional Engagement for Climate Justice: Citizens’ event in Bremen
Immediately following the symposium on November 19 at 14:30 in Bremen, all attendees receive free admission to
“Bremen is Engaged!” This opportunity is designed to establish and strengthen partnerships between Bremen and
the global south as means of directly facilitating projects that address climate justice. The segment will be conducted
in the German language, including opening remarks from an authorized representative from the State of Bremen.
