We are approac hing the end of the Church year. Today is
the last Sunday in Ordinary Time and next Sunday is the
Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe,
the last Sunday of liturgical year A. The new liturgical year
B begins with the First Sunday of Advent, November 30.
The new lit urgical year* brings the hope and expectation
that Pope Francis will visit our city for the 2015 World
Meeting of Families to be held here September 22-27. We
ask that you pray the following pray er regularly:

God and Father of us all, in Jesus, Your Son and our
Savior, You have made us Your sons and daughters in the
family of the Church.
May Your grace and love help our families in every part of
the world be united to one anot her in fidelity to the Gospel.

Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most
troubled, to be homes of communion and prayer and to
always seek Your truth and live in Your love.

Thanksgiving Food Drive: Volunteers will prepare
Thanksgiving dinners in the Newman Center to be delivered to
recipients’ homes the day before Thanksgiving. If you want to
suggest a family in West Philadelphia to receive dinner,
please fill out a form available in Church or in the Newman
Center. If you can volunteer to drive to help deliver the meals,
please put your contact information on the form. If you have

PROCESSION “ALONG WITH OUR MOTHER”
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7
Volunteer to be a Cathedral Ambassador
The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul
conducts an evangelization ministry with Cathedral
Ambassadors.
This ent husiastic group of trained
Ambassadors staffs the Basilica every day of the week
and is comprised of volunteer parishioners from all
over the Archdiocese. They answer questions, offer
assistance and give tours. Cathedral Ambassadors
provide a pers onal presence in the Basilica; they put a
face on the Churc h. Cathedral Ambassadors are
assigned 4 hour shifts. The schedule is flexible - one
day or more a month. They rec ei ve training and
materials to support their evangelization ministry.
Along with our Mother Mary, the Parish of St. Agatha-St.
James invites you to walk with us in procession to honor our
Blessed Mot her on S unday, December 7, the Feast of the
Immaculate Conception. The Proc ession starts at 4:00PM at

Drex el’s Dornsife Community Cent er at 36 & Spring Garden
Streets. Slowly and prayerfully, carrying a statue of Mary, the
Procession will travel through the streets of the community
and through the hearts of both Drexel University and the
University of Pennsylvania arriving at the Church of St.

Agatha-St. James, SE corner, 38 & Chestnut Streets for
5:30PM Mass. Bring your special intentions and join this very

RCIA Rites of Acceptance and Welcoming Nov. 23: Next
Sunday at the 5:30PM Mass, our faith community has the honor
of observing the combined Rites of Acceptance and Welcoming
for our RCIA participants. In these Rites, acceptance and
welcoming are reciprocal; specifically, on our part, we publicly
express our acceptance of new members and warmly invite
these men and women into our community. In addition, our faith
community pledges to walk with them on their journey and to be
there to guide them. There will be a celebration of the Rites in
the Newman Center after the 5:30PM Mass.
