In order to encourage detailed exploration the Summer Homework has been designed
with a theme rich in inter-disciplinary connections. The theme for class VI is
Incredible India.
Exciting time is here again ! It’s time for Summer Vacation and fun filled activities.
Children are reservoirs of potential which needs to be tapped and channelized in diverse
ways. We feel that it is very important to fire their imagination and foster an outlook
that helps them explore, discover and rediscover. Summer Vacation is the best time
when you can connect with your child in many ways. The Holidays’ Homework has been
designed to enhance achievements of your children as well as family relationships.
A few suggestions that you may like to keep in mind are :
 Spend quality time with your children. Take them out to outings and have fun time
together.
 Help your children to become independent by giving them responsibilities. Involve
them in small household activities.
 Strengthen good manners, healthy habits and respect for elders.
 Strengthen the feelings of empathy, affection and tolerance.
 Give them a chance to look after you and their younger brothers and sisters.
 Converse with your children in English.
 Encourage your children to read books to enhance their language skills. Reading
will also boost their interpretative skills and provide them valuable literary
experience.
 Cultivate sportsmanship by encouraging your children to play various indoor and
outdoor games.
 Remember that Summer Vacation is the time to learn and enjoy. So spend these
holidays creating a nurturing and stimulating environment filled with fun, frolic,
and learning.

Summer holidays are times of fun and frolic. Summer holidays also mean travelling to new
destinations and exploring new places. It is a time when you unwind and refresh yourself by
visiting new places and meeting new people.
Visiting any new place is not just a journey into a different geographical location. It is an
exploration of a new way of life which not just includes sight-seeing and monuments but also
exploring the different types of cuisine, cultures and traditions.
You must have come across a variety of travel brochures that you and your family must have
gone through while planning a vacation. Travel brochures give a brief description of a
holiday spot describing the places to visit, special cuisine, accommodation, languages
spoken, ways to reach alongside important things to remember while visiting the particular
spot.

Jantar Mantar is very popular among tourists and residents of Delhi. The structure is another
great masterpiece of Indian architecture, which shows the field of science in ancient India.
Jantar Manter located in Parliament Street, close to Connaught Place. Jantar Mantar Delhi,
also known as the Delhi Observatory. It is maintained by the Jaipur government because it
was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur in 1710 A.D.
Maharaja Jai Singh was an astronomer fanatic himself, who has studied various works of
Hindu, Muslim and European astronomy. He felt that the tables used by the experts was
misleading and the actual change of the planets and predictions of eclipses were not possible
with these measures. Then he thought he would find an improved means through which
effective and accurate prediction can be done. It was his inspiration and vision that gave
shape to such an instrument. He built other observatories at Jaipur, Ujjain, Benares and
Mathura have a precise calculation. It took nearly seven years before the whole structure was
fully operational, because he wanted to be fully satisfied with the accuracy of the instruments
of Jantar Mantar.
