TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES ORDER 2014
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Leeds City Council has today made an Order under
Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847. The effect of the Order is that the roads or
parts of roads specified in the Schedule hereto will be closed to vehicles between the hours
specified to facilitate crowd control for the Switch on of the Christmas Lights in the following
locations on the dates specified.
LEEDS CITY CENTRE – THURSDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2014 (Switch-on 20:05 hrs)
A.
Road to be closed 06:00 hrs to 21:15 hrs
Alexander Street - Access Only to be allowed through the day
B.
Roads to be closed 11:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs
Cookridge Street - The Headrow to junction with St Anne’s Street
St Anne’s Street – The Light Car Park to Cookridge St (to facilitate a separate event at
Leeds Cathedral event which is to be controlled by the Police)
C.
Roads to be closed 18:30 hrs to 21:15 hrs
The Headrow (eastbound) - Calverley Street to Albion Street and (westbound) Albion
Street to East Parade.
D.
Highway Point Closure 06:00 hrs to 21:15 hrs
Alexander Street at its junction with Calverley Street - Access Only to be allowed during
the day
E.
Highway Point Closure 13:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs
Cookridge Street - junction with The Headrow - all traffic to use the One Way Loop

Park Row contra-flow Bus Lane (entry slip) - Junction with Infirmary Street Buses to travel via the City Centre Loop road and Vicar Lane
G.
Highway Point Closure 20:00hrs – 21.00hrs
East Parade - Junction with South Parade - To facilitate the crowd movement post
event. This closure and diversion will also operate in an emergency. Blue Light access
to the LGI will be maintained throughout.
H.
Altered traffic flow 18:30 hrs to 21:15 hrs
Upper Basinghall Street - One way working to be reversed to flow north to south

immediately adjacent to the southbound bend.
