The nationals, coached by Khalid Al
Hiddi, defeated host Thailand 36-20 in
their second Group ‘B’ match.
Bahrainis led 21-9 at the end of the
first-half and kept their momentum in
the second to seal an emphatic victory.
Bahrain, who recorded a well-earned
victory against Kuwait in Group ‘B’
opener on Saturday, now lead the group
with two wins from two matches. Pakistan, India and Bangladesh are the
other teams in this group.
Bilal Askani top scored for Bahrain
with a game high seven goals. He was
well assisted by Mahmood Mahdi (5
goals), Jaffar Mohammed (3 goals),
Mohammed Ahmed (2), Abdulla Salman, Hussain Al Qaidoom, Fahad Mohammed and Sayed Shehab Ahmed (1
each).

Bahrain’s football team kick-start
their campaign today against Uzbekistan in three-nation Group ‘D’. China
lead the group with two points, thanks
to their 4-2 win over Uzbekistan in the
group opener on Friday.
Bahrain enjoyed mixed fortunes on
the first day of sailing as Ebrahim Al
Doseri and Abdulla Janahi came fourth
and ninth, respectively, in the Laser
Standard first race.
In the Hobnie 16 Open race one,
Bahrain’s Muhana Al Dosseri was fifth,
followed by compatriot Mustafa Janahi
in sixth.
The team, coached by Kacem Ben
Jumia, will continue their battle today,
starting at 6am (Bahrain time).
Swimmers Khaled Ismaeel and Faraj
Farhan will be looking to improve on
their personal best today when they
take part in the men’s 10km swimming
marathon, starting at 9am (Bahrain

Striker Antonio Fernandes scored a
fine hat-trick, the first of the tournament, for Salcete while John Dias
made it 4-0. Mahesh A pulled one back
for Kerala United late in the match.

The International Military Sport
Council (CISM) president Colonel
Abdulhakeem Al Shino chaired
the CISM’S third Executive
Board meeting on the sidelines
of the International Military Golf
Championship now on in Bahrain.
The event is being held under the
patronage of His Majesty. The
meeting was attended by chairman,
vice-chairmen, heads of continental
military sports, representatives of the
executive office, heads and members
of CISM committees. Forthcoming
events, including the World Military
Games to take a place in South
Korea from October 2 to 11, 2015,
were discussed.
