He attended University of Maryland from 1964 to 1969, were he was a graduate Assistant in 1969. His teaching and coaching career all in Montgomery County Started in 1969 and lasted until 2007. Voight Award 2012/13 Roy Main Middletown Played at Thomas Johnson High School 1974-1978 Middletown Assistant Football Coach 1983-2012 Middletown Assistant Basketball Coach 1998-2000, 2006-08, 2012-13 Roy has over 30 years of experience as an assistant football coach at various levels…. Roy has coached at the youth League level ,the ninth grade, the JV and the varsity level over those 30 years… recently over the past 10 years Roy has served as the offensive coordinator under three head coaches at Middletown coach Tim Ambrose, Lorne Ridenour and now Kevin Lynott…. for 10 years Roy’s offense has led the area and or/state in many categories… coach Main has been part of five regional championships…4 straight regional championships… eight straight regional championship games….4 state title games and 2 state championships all under coach Maine’s direction as an offensive coordinator….he is known as a master motivator and one to get the most out of players….a player’s coach and his old school demanding style produces results ….coach Main is one-ofa-kind and the staple of Middletown success over 30 years…. John W. Voight Award 2012/13 Fran Parry Gaithersburg Began coaching career in 1975 at Northwood High School. For four years Fran was as an assistant coach under Brady Straub. During his tenure at Northwood he coached the special teams and secondary. In 1979-1980 he transferred to Gaithersburg High School. During his tenure at Gaithersburg Fran coached four years as an assistant varsity coach under the stewardship of Head Coach John Harvill from 1986-1989. His areas of coaching responsibilities were with the defensive secondary and special teams. From 1990-1999 Fran began coaching as a junior varsity football coach — six of those years as the head junior varsity coach. As the junior varsity coach his team finished with 70 wins and 20 losses. During the time Fran coached under John Harvill as an assistant coach he helped the varsity program to win two state championships and three state finalists. After Coach Harvill retired in 1999 Fran stayed on as an assistant coach under Kreg Kephart as an assistant varsity coach for 12 more years. During this time he coached the defensive secondary and special teams. Over this period of time Fran helped the varsity program win another state championship title in 2000. As an assistant for Coach Kephart, Gaithersburg only experienced one losing (below .500) season. After retiring from teaching in 2011, Fran began coaching and is currently a volunteer assistant varsity football coach at Northwest High School. John W. Voight Award 2012/13 Lorne Ridenour Middletown Played at Boonsboro High School class of 1986, 4 years Bridgewater College 2 year starter on the OLine Beall High School Coaching 1 year 1991 Brunswick High School 1 year 1992 Middletown High School assistant coach 1993-2004, head coach 2005-2007, assist head coach 2009-2012 Lorne has been part of Middletown football for nearly 20 years…. He has coached numerous undefeated JV teams and became the second head-coach in Middletown history in 2005 with 28 and 10 record… won a regional title and 2 conference titles ….he came back to coaching in 2009 where for the past three years has been the team’s defensive coordinator , special teams coordinator and has helped lead our team three years in a row to the state championship game with two state titles…..Lorne has been instrumental to every aspect of Middletown Football for the past 20 seasons……..Lorne also serves as our strength and conditioning teacher during the day and has lead the program to its greatest strength levels in the past several seasons….It also should be noted that Lorne serves as our assistant Head Coach for the past 4 years…..
