Dear Polo Members,
observe time-honored traditions, they also help attract the next
generation of Members to carry on those traditions. These are the
traits that perpetuate continuity of our Membership.
On September 5, 2014, I received a letter from Dennis Burns, Director of
the Club Leaders Forum, congratulating The Polo Club on attaining
Platinum Club of America status for 2014-2016. This is the first time in
Polo’s history that our Club has been recognized as one of the most
respected Private Clubs in the United States. This is a significant award
— one that we should all take great pride in achieving.
5) Governance and Prudent Fiscal Management – Boards
Polo was selected in a nationwide survey of General Managers, Club
Presidents and Owners. There are more than 5,000 private clubs in
America and of that, only 265 are awarded Platinum Club acknowledgement. These 265 Clubs are divided into several categories. Polo
ranked 88 out of 125 in the Private Residential Clubs category.

There are seven (7) areas of excellence that were considered:
1) Universal Recognition – This means that our Club has the
ability to attract and retain the finest Members.
2) Excellence in Amenities and Facilities – Key factors were
Polo’s excellent facilities and activities designed to fulfill our
Members’ needs, as well as our Club’s ability to maintain and improve these facilities on a regular basis, while continuing to build
reserves.
3) Caliber of Staff and Professional Service Levels –
By providing an excellent work environment, as well as compensation and benefits, Polo has been able to attract the finest individuals. The quality of our management team was also considered, as
measured by our trained, well-mannered and motivated staff, which
provides our Members with an extraordinary lifestyle, day in and
day out.

I am proud to have been able to assist Polo in elevating its status to
that of Platinum Club. I couldn’t have done it alone, and therefore, I
wish to thank my management team and staff, the Board of Governors,
and you, our Members, who have all contributed to this amazing
achievement. My goal is to raise that bar higher this coming year.
I believe it’s achievable, especially in light of all the exciting things we
have planned as we roll out a new beginning at Polo with the opening
of our renovated Club this season.

 Community Relations
Busy Summer Leads to Eventful Season
of Community Projects for 2014-15 Season BYCARYN STUMPFL
It was a busy summer for the Community Relations Committee (CRC)
at The Polo Club of Boca Raton. CRC
Members who remained in South
Florida over the summer held several
meetings, participated in various
charitable activities and continued
to develop several new projects of
good works that will be introduced
this season.
To quote Cicero, “A room without
books is like a body without a soul.”
To that end, the CRC has been planning a new project to bring books to
the children of Pine Grove Elementary School in Delray Beach. Diane
Klein has been working with the
administrators at Pine Grove on a
plan for Polo Club volunteers to
purchase books and read them to
preschool students at the school,
which serves disadvantaged children in the community. The book
project is set to launch this fall or
winter. More details on how to get
involved will follow in the next issue
of Trends.
With the children out on summer
break at Pine Grove, the book project
evolved over the summer to include
the Achievement Centers for Chil-
dren & Families in Delray Beach.
The daycare center, preschool and
afterschool programs offered at the
Achievement Centers serve children
from toddlers up to age 18 from lower-income families in Delray Beach.
CRC members Bob Leff and Roni
Brockman toured the Achievement
Centers this summer and noticed the
bookshelves in their library seemed
a bit sparse. Immediately several of
the members organized a book
drive, purchased new and used
books and found sponsors to donate
books so the children wouldn’t have
to go without. In addition, CRC members Bob and Pamella Hale found
other resources and picked up boxes
of books to donate. The CRC plans to
continue working with the Achievement Centers going forward.
The CRC also supported the Jacobson Family Food Pantry in Delray
Beach this summer, supplying 10
volunteers to help pack hundreds of
bags of hurricane supplies for local
seniors in need through the Ruth
and Norman Rales Jewish Family
Services Center (JFS). In addition, in
early September, CRC members Roni
Brockman, Joy Goldstein and Debby
May volunteered to pack food for
seniors to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
The JFS has provided food and other
services to those in need in Delray
Beach and Boca Raton since 1996.
THE CRC also secured discounts
for Polo Club members over the
summer to several local restaurants,
hotels and for other services, some
of which will continue through the
holidays.
Headed by new members for the
2014/2015 season, Sharon Barash,
Pamella Hale, Ilene Katz, Joy Goldstein, Trudy Kramer, Robert Leff and
Shelley Pomerantz, the CRC plans to
begin its new member bagels and
cocktail events by November or December once the Club renovation is
completed. The annual Ruth Rales
JFS fundraiser (Gift Cards for Kids) will
also be held over the holidays again.
More details will follow in the next
issue.
To get involved in all the Community
Relations activities, or for more information, please contact one of the
CRC members or Roni Brockman at
[email protected] or 561-865-0250.
Led by CRC Chair Roni Brockman, 10 Polo Club volunteers helped pack hurricane
supplies for seniors at Jacobson Food Pantry in Delray Beach this summer.

With the Club renovation comes many upgrades and
improvements that raise the overall level of service
and amenities to Members.
Polo Tennis is no exception, as
they have made some significant
changes to the facility and programs that they hope will make
your experience “only the best.”
First, the courts will boast new
awnings. Cement sidewalks have
been removed and replaced with
pavers. In addition, a new threeyear program has begun that will
replace fences on all the courts and
install new Polo logo wind screens.
The Resort & Tennis Shoppe has
also received a beautiful new facelift and will be ready for its Grand
Opening in December.
From a thoroughly upgraded
Resort & Tennis Shoppe to new
exciting programs and a renewed
focus on service, Polo Tennis is
ready to deliver “service excellence
to our Members every day,”

according to Tennis Director Jean
Mills. “We want to thank our Members for their patience as we get
through this transitional period.
I promise it will definitely be worth
the wait,” said Jean.
Introducing the New Resort
& Tennis Shoppe
As you walk through the doors,
you’ll notice a new upscale look
and feel to the Resort & Tennis
Shoppe. It’s in the same location,
but you won’t recognize the beautiful new appearance of the place.
You’ll also find a wide selection of
new apparel lines and unique
items that you’ll find only here at
The Polo Club. You may not recognize the look of the shop, but you
will certainly know the familiar
faces of the long-term staff
members there to serve you. “I’m

looking forward to all of the new
and exciting changes coming for
Members this season,” said Janet
Prudente-Horton, who is celebrating her 25th year at The Polo Club
this year.
“The great news is that the new
shop will offer much more than
tennis apparel. It’s truly a ‘resort’
shop,” she said. “Members will find
a wide variety of outstanding upscale and designer fashion lines
with new lines coming in all the
time,” Janet continued. The shop
still features the latest beautiful
and functional Tennis and sportswear, but you’ll also see a full selection of men’s, women’s and children’s designer fashions, dressy
attire, travel and cruise wear, children’s Tennis and swimwear, and
many accessory items, including
goggles for the pool, sandals and
shoes, UV protective clothing
and sun hats, jewelry, handbags,
sunglasses and gifts. “Our UV
protection apparel is both fashionable and health-oriented,” she
added. “The protective clothes are
perfect for on and off the courts
in Florida!”
The shop carries high-end brands,
such as Tommy Bahama, Island
Company (you may know this
brand from its Worth Avenue shop
in Palm Beach), dress shirts from
Thomas Dean, designer activewear from Trina Turk, and an
expanded selection of logo
apparel, including T-shirts,
sweat shirts/hoodies, hats,
housewares and unique
specialty gift items. “We
also offer gift cards
that can be used for
items in the shop or
for Tennis programs, lessons
and services that you can give to
other members or family members
to use at the Club,” Janet remarked.
The Resort & Tennis Shoppe also
offers a tremendous service for
Members: personal shopping
assistance and free gift wrapping.

deliver service excellence is by

According to Piotr (Peter) F. Krzyzanowski, one of the esteemed Polo
Tennis professionals, Tennis will be
highlighting a number of weekly
programs to its lineup this fall, such
as Men’s Monday Night Tennis
from 6-7:30 pm. “Our Polo men
are now able to participate in the
evenings, play three rounds of
doubles, and then watch Monday
Night Football with their buddies at
Barefoot Cafe.”
“We’ll also be starting a Hot Shots
clinic on Thursdays, offering drills
and strategy practice for men and
women who don’t regularly play
on any teams,” he said. The Club
will also present a free tennis
“stroke of the month” coaching
session every Saturday at 8:00 am.
“Each week, you can come in and
learn or fine tune a specific stroke,
such as the backhand or serve.”
You may only sign up once a month
for the complimentary one-hour
session.
Polo is proud to offer the USTA
National Quick Start Program for
children. The Polo Tennis Program
offers Quick Start Tennis yearround on Saturdays from 12-12:30
pm. “Quick Start is an innovative
way of introducing Tennis to kids
under 10,” said Peter. “We use
different colored balls (depending
on the age and ability of the child),
so kids have an easier time progressing in Tennis. We work with
the Children’s Activity Center (CAC)
to teach kids basic Tennis skills and
get them started playing Tennis

This season, Polo Tennis will be
adding a Holiday Adult Tennis Boot
Camp, geared toward our holiday
players and those looking
to boost their cardio. “The

more advanced players,”
said Peter.
In addition, Polo Tennis

The format will include
three rounds of social
tennis. “All levels of players
are welcome to come out,

Start small
The biggest myth is that you have to make drastic life
changes across the board to make an impact. Not so!!
Even if your diet and fitness habits are non-existent, you
can make small changes, which show big results. One
drop of water isn’t going to make a big difference, but
compounded by consistency, it accumulates into a force
of nature.
Starting small will keep you motivated for the next
opportunity.
 Go for a 10 minute walk or a 5-minute run
 Swing a kettle bell 10 times
 Do 10 squats, then 10 pushups
 Drink a liter of water instead of soda
Resist the temptation to start big, because big starts out
manageable and then ends in a big crash. If you start out
with an aggressive workout you’ll be sore and need to
rest even longer, and/or risk injury.

Members. As a warm welcome,
she is extending a 20% discount

the beginning of a beautiful
relationship!
Many tend to prioritize fitness over food. We use our
exercise as an excuse to eat whatever we want and
expecting to burn off calories later. While the plan isn’t
bad, it is a short-term fix. A healthy diet plan combined
with regular exercise is the best way to live, instead of
constantly trying to burn off last night’s dinner.
Fueling yourself with good food simply makes sense.
When you combine healthy eating with exercise, you’ll
notice you feel even better! We tend to make eating overcomplicated, even healthy eating! So here are a few
simple rules to keep in mind:
 Eat as many whole foods as possible,
i.e. fruits & vegetables
 Eat lean cuts of meat
 Eat smaller portions, but a little more often
 Drink plenty of water
Move In a Way That’s Fun
If you don’t enjoy running, don’t run. If you don’t enjoy
weight lifting, don’t lift weights. Move in a way you enjoy
and you will see the results much quicker. Your exercise
and
should not feel like a burden, it should be enjoyable!
Maybe it’s a dance class, Yoga, Pilates, cycling or tennis.
Bottom line: Do what moves you.
Follow the 85/15 rule
The 85/15 mindset is helpful when figuring out what kind
of grace you can extend to yourself when your food and
fitness isn’t measuring up. Basically, if you’re eating well
for 85% of your meals, you can be flexible in the other
15%. If you exercise most of the week, don’t stress out
over taking a couple of days off.
Eat More Color
Eating a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables is a key
component to a healthy diet. Simply increasing the
diversity of colors on your plate will help you eat healthier,
even if that’s all you do!!
Embrace a Routine
If figuring out a daily workout just adds more stress
to your life, don’t do that either! Write down one
workout you’re going to do for the week, and
simply do only that or take advantage of our
talented fitness professionals; or book a
training session and have them set
up a program specifically
designed to help you
achieve your goals!

Since it began in 1985, the annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
(NBCAM) campaign has sought to increase awareness of the disease through
events, education and action. The aim of the NBCAM is to promote
mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer.
According to HealthFinder.gov, breast cancer is the second most common kind
of cancer in women, afflicting about one in every eight women born in the
United States. While most everyone knows about breast cancer, too many
women forget or disregard the simple steps to early detection. Yet, early
detection is the key to survival and treatment.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation encourages women to have a plan
for detecting the disease in its early stages using monthly self-exams and
mammo-grams after age 40. You can also make a difference by spreading the
word about mammograms with friends and loved ones, and encouraging
communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.

Renovation Update...
What’s Done & what’s to come
COUNTDOWN
TO CLUB OPENING
The clubhouse renovation is nearing
completion, and all of the noise, dust
and inconvenience will soon be behind
us. After many months, the end is in
sight, and anticipation is building for the
big reveal in November. But before that,
let’s recap all that has been happening.
APRIL: In mid-April, Suffolk
Construction fenced off areas behind
the Golf Cart Barn and around the back
of the building to stage their
construction trailers and dumpsters.
April 21st marked the first official day of
the Clubhouse renovation. A wall was
installed in The Golf Shoppe, and Golf
personnel were relocated. Golf cart
traffic was diverted to a new route that
would be used through the entire
renovation. Steeplechase closed, leaving
The Laurels as the only interior dining
venue to remain open for the next
couple of months. Our team decorated
The Laurels in white drapery, creating
an elegant dining experience, which
Members enjoyed. The first of many

tri-fold brochures was created for
Members to have an easy reference
guide regarding open venues and
times of operation.
MAY: Walls were erected to
protect Members from entering the
construction zone, and demolition
began in earnest. Weekly videos
revealed the progress that had been
made as rooms were stripped down
to bare bones.
JUNE: Real progress was being made,
and our construction team and design
professionals informed us that there
was an opportunity to accelerate the
entire project into this year’s schedule.
Board approval was granted, and the
additional work was scheduled. F&B
personnel in the affected areas were
moved to The Red Room temporarily.
Additionally, the Resort and Tennis
Shoppe moved into the Game Room
at the FRC, and demolition of their
space began.
JULY: Dust and noise were daily
occurrences as all areas were being
worked on concurrently. The

creation of a second floor above
Administration and the F&B offices was
underway. Most of the Administration
corridor was walled off, and mail
delivery and payment drops were
relocated.
AUGUST: In preparation for the
Club shutdown, a temporary tent
with air conditioning was installed
at Barefoot Cafe. The walkway from
the Spa building to Barefoot Cafe
was erected to provide cover during
inclement weather. Barefoot became
the only place to dine.
The Clubhouse and the Spa were closed
for two weeks to allow for the switchover of the A/C units, as well as to do as
much work in the Spa as possible. Upper
valet was closed until the reopening of
the Club in November. Reciprocal dining
and Spa facilities were available at other
local clubs. The Spa and Fitness Center
reopened on August 20, and while
much of the construction had been
completed during the shutdown, work
continued throughout August. The
Men’s Card Room moved to a tent on
the Sports Court, and the CAC closed
for several months. Taking advantage
of the shutdown, we dug up the lower
valet area to add two new grease traps.
SEPTEMBER: The grand staircase
was installed. Plantings were replaced
by lower valet. At the end of the month,
the majority of the construction was
completed in the Spa building, in the
Resort and Tennis Shoppe, and the
Men’s Card Room. New tile was installed
in the Administration corridor, and we
continued to renovate the balance.
Lastly, we prepared the Tennis Pro
Shoppe to return “home”.
OCTOBER: The men were
moved back to the Men’s Card Room.
The Ladies’ Card Room was closed,
and the ladies were moved into the
tent. With a mid-November

deadline, we continue to have well
over 100 construction personnel on
site to ensure that the project will
be completed on time. It is now the
beginning of October, and some
rooms are taking shape, with ceilings,
paint on the walls, tile and carpeting.
Furniture, paintings and rugs are
expected to arrive shortly. In order
for the County to give us a Temporary
Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) in
mid-November, 38 different inspections
have to be passed. Our construction
team and Owners’ Representative are
working closely with the inspectors,
ensuring that all concerns are addressed
immediately so there will be no delay.
Not all areas will be opened in November.
As mentioned in previous communications, An American Bistro (formerly
The Bistro), and the Administrative
offices will be the last to come online in
mid-December. However, the new
Terrace, The Laurels, Traditions, The
Crown Room, Steeplechase, Winners’
Circle and the outside courtyard
between Steeplechase and Winner’s
Circle will be available for your enjoyment
as long as the Temporary Certificate of
Occupancy (TCO) is obtained.
An undertaking like this takes a lot of
planning, coordination and supervision.
Management, Board representatives,
and our team of professionals meet
regularly, led by Larry Zabik, our Owner’s
Representative, to discuss issues and
their resolutions. A project of this scope
would normally take a year to complete,
however, thanks to the hard-working
construction teams who come to Polo
every day, Ryan Artim, our Assistant GM,
and our own very talented Facilities
Maintenance and IT personnel, this was
all accomplished in record time. We owe
them a debt of gratitude.
Despite the majority of Polo’s facilities
being affected in one way or another by
this renovation project, Polo Members
were still able to play Golf, Tennis, Cards,
swim, dine, and socialize during this
time. Those who remained at Polo this
summer frequented our dining venues
and shops, utilizing all that the Club had
to offer. Without the full cooperation
of the Members who were here, this
would not have been done. We thank
you for your patronage, patience and
understanding.
Now that Polo is well on the way to being
completely revitalized, we hope you’ll
come to the Club often, enjoy our newly
updated venues, and participate in all
that there is to do. Bask in this paradise
you call home. It’s an amazing life … you
deserve it. Enjoy!!

Due to worldwide Oktoberfest celebrations,
more beer is consumed in October than
any other month of the year. This year’s
sales spike will likely be distributed across
thousands of brew brands and flavors, as the
popularity of craft beer is at an all-time high.
Craft beer is defined as a beer with a
distinctive flavor, produced in small quantities
and distributed in a particular region. Palm
Beach County is no exception, as area bars
and breweries demonstrate their ability
to adapt to fast-changing tastes and
experiment with ingredients that were
ignored by brewers in the past.
In fact, three local breweries are creating
a buzz right here in Polo’s backyard, and
you won’t even have to travel outside the
gates to experience some of them. As Polo
Club Bar Manager Kim Fonacier reveals, “We
are currently in the process of growing our
craft beer selection, especially locally-brewed
craft beers from the area’s three most notable
breweries — Funky Buddha, Saltwater, and
Due South.”
Boca Raton’s Funky Buddha is our area’s
premier local brewing establishment, and its
beer is served throughout South Florida.
Bonita Applebaum is said to taste like
homemade apple pie in beer form, while
Chocolate-Covered Cherry Porter and
Floridian Hefeweizen are noted fan favorites.
FB’s most widely known and loved brew is
the Piiti Porter, scoring 90 out of 100 on
BeerAdvocate.com.
Delray Beach’s new kid on the block, Saltwater
Brewery, expects to produce 1,500 barrels of
beer in 2014, its inaugural year. Among
Saltwater’s popular offerings are Screamin’
Reels IPA, Session Ale, a pilsner, and a dark,
creamy Chocolate Mayday Porter.
A little further north is Due South Brewery in
Boynton Beach. When it comes to craft beer,
Due South long reigns supreme in Palm
Beach County. Some of the most popular DS
brews sound more like dessert, including
Caramel Cream Ale and Café Ole Espresso
Porter. For IPA-lovers, Due South’s CAT 5 is
worthy of a try.
N
“We are currently in a
process of growing our
own craft beer selection,
especially locally-brewed
craft beers,” states
Polo's Kim Fonacier.
N
This October, celebrate the German beerguzzling holiday with something a bit closer
to home. Whether you are a craft beer
enthusiast or a novice, you are sure to find a
brew for you. Bottom’s up!

Polo Member’s Induction into
National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame
CINCINNATI – The only student-athlete in NCAA history to play six varsity years and
the first basketball assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati, former Bearcat
great Jack “Black Cat” Laub will earn induction into the National Jewish Sports Hall
of Fame on September 14th.
Laub, who played basketball for two seasons at the City College of New York prior to
serving in World War II, came to UC in 1946. Mid-American Conference rules allowing war veterans to play college sports gave Laub the opportunity to help guide the
Bearcats to four consecutive MAC titles and a combined 77-27 record from 19471950 under UC head coach John Weithe.
Laub joined fellow UC great Dick Dallmer as the first two Bearcats selected in the
NBA Draft in 1950. Chosen by the Baltimore Bullets, Laub was traded to the
Minneapolis Lakers and eventually landed with the Scranton Miners of the Eastern
Basketball League where he helped the franchise win two regular-season
championships from 1951-52.
Appointed by Wiethe, Laub became UC’s first basketball assistant coach in 1951 and
helped direct the Bearcats to their first appearance in the National Invitation Tournament that same year. As head scout, Laub is also credited with suggesting Weithe
give a scholarship to Jack Twyman, who eventually became an All-American at UC
and was later inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame.
Under Weithe’s direction, Laub also started the UC Roundball club as a fundraiser for
the basketball program. The group later grew into what is now UCATS, the athletic
department’s fundraising unit that provides financial support to fund student-athlete scholarships and other special athletics needs.
Laub became head basketball coach at U.S. Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy
in 1959. The move helped pave the way for then-Kings coach Ed Jucker to become
head coach at UC. Jucker, who succeeded George Smith prior to the 1960-61 campaign, guided the Bearcats to consecutive national championships in 1961 and
1962.
UC’s McMicken College of Arts & Sciences honored Laub with the 2010 Distinguished
Alumni Award for his efforts in helping pioneer the idea of discount drugs. Laub,
who devoted his business career to reducing prescription costs for consumers,
opened the first discount drug store chain in the New York area and later helped
open the first mail-order pharmacy.

Tennessee Williams:
Mad Pilgrimage
of the Flesh
by John Lahr | Release Date: Sept. 2014
A starred review from Publisher's Weekly
touts this “brilliant new biography” as a
crowning achievement of the awardwinning longtime New Yorker drama
critic and author John Lahr.
Lahr takes readers into the complicated
mind of playwright Tennesse Williams.
Quoting from diaries, notebooks, and
journals, Lahr reveals the complex
dynamics of Williams’ backstage life,
tumultuous love affairs, and tortured
family, while astutely studying his plays.
According to PW, Williams once wrote
that he saw every play and film he worked
on as “a confession.” With sympathy and
compassion, Lahr looks to his scripts as
the chief means of understanding the
celebrated playwright’s turbulent life.

Yes Please
by Amy Poehler | Release Date: Oct. 2014
In her highly anticipated first book, Yes

Poehler shares personal tidbits on love,

silver screen credits include the movies,
Mean Girls and Baby Mama, also won the
2014 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress
in a Television Musical or Comedy Series

With her signature charm, Poehler delivers
hilariously biting wisdom as she attempts
to make sense of midlife, describing what
it feels like to be "young and old at the
same time," and includes a chapter on sex
tips, like "please don't make it last so long,
we're really tired."
This picture book for kids age 4-8 follows Sweetie Pie, a hamster who longs for
freedom outside the cage as he finds himself passed from one owner to
another and is overfed, frightened by a large dog, mistreated, and finally
forgotten in the snow.
In the vein of the classic, Velveteen Rabbit, this story may serve as a cautionary tale for children who need

s Polo Club celebrates its 28th anniversary this year, Polo Member Mary Kaye will
be celebrating an even more auspicious milestone this November: her 100th birthday!
I caught up with Mrs. Kaye recently in The Polo Club card room where she’s a regular
player each week. In fact, Mrs. Kaye plays canasta with four different groups of ladies
(on four different days) each week at the card room. “Lovely girls,” says Mrs. Kaye about
her canasta-playing companions.
This beautiful, always elegant grande dame of The Polo Club card room, born Nov. 29,
1914, has seen a lot over her life. “Good and bad, “ says Mrs. Kaye.
She grew up on Pitkin Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, as the third daughter in a family
of seven girls, raised solely by her mother. According to Mrs. Kaye, she is the lone
survivor of her siblings, cousins and extended relations. “Everyone is gone now. I’m the
only one left.”
Mrs. Kaye has been a full-time Polo Member for more than 25 years. She moved to
Boca Raton on her own from Forest Hills, New York. She currently resides with her fulltime aide, Marie, in Cypress Isle.
Our own Polo Member Marvin
Tepper proudly displays over 62

for quite a few years also and

Up until a couple years ago, Mrs. Kaye enjoyed driving, as well as doing yoga and
exercising every day. “It was my biggest thing. I never missed a day. I could outrun
everyone,” said Mrs. Kaye with a smile.
Mrs. Kaye was very active in the Pap Corps cancer research charity in Boca Raton. She
also loves cruising and has been all over the world. She shared her shipboard stories to
author Irene Magers, inspiring the 2011 novel, Down and Out in Manhattan.
When asked for her secrets to a long life, she responds, “It’s my children.” Mrs. Kaye
credits her three children, three granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren with
keeping her young at heart.
Congratulations, Mrs. Kaye, and welcome to the centenarian club! Best wishes for many
happy returns of the day!

way. Perhaps this is where she began developing her remarkable ability to know exactly what
people need and how to best serve those needs.
“Through her gracious personality and attitude, Mio has perfected her position as Card Room
Manager, by making the hardest choices and functions seem so easy. She will definitely be
missed, ” said Director of Club Operations, Ray Valdez.
“Frankly, these past twenty one years at the Polo Club have been very rewarding,” shares Mio.
“I have met some of the most wonderful people — both as Members and fellow co-workers.”
Looking back over more than two decades at the Club, Mio recalls, “We shared many happy and
not so happy moments together. As I leave, I will take with me memories and faces that I will
never forget, and I thank you all for the kind words and appreciation you expressed to me.
It truly was my pleasure to service you.”
She will certainly be missed.
