Fusion challenges in SUPPORT
1. Heterogeneous sources
– Sensor and fusion systems from different vendors use different ways
for representing information – difficult to fuse.
2. Information overload
– More sensors means more information, events and (false) alarms to
monitor. Operators need assistance in filtering out the most relevant
information.
In SUPPORT, data from heterogeneous sources, threats and alarm priorities
are connected using dedicated models/ontologies for Port Security.
Dynamic alarm filtering: example
The alarm ”Slow vessel close to ferry” is given a higher than normal priority if it is
linked to threat models for which we also have other evidence.
