Warren McCoy—AFLNT Hall of Fame
North Darwin (now Palmerston Magpies)
champion Warren ‘Jacko’ McCoy was inducted into the AFLNT Hall of Fame on Saturday
night. An outstanding defender, Warren’s
NTFL career spanned from 1973 until his final
season in 1995/96. Warren was a quiet, unassuming player and played in a number of positions for North Darwin including Back Pocket, Halfback-Flank, Wing and Half-Forward

out on winning the Nichols Medal by a single
vote. After playing in a grand final with North Darwin in 1979/80, the following year Warren was on the ground for the Club’s
inaugural Premiership win. He displayed tremendous leadership qualities, captaining the North Darwin side for four years. Warren will long be remembered for his outstanding performances in NTFL representative matches, awarded the Australia Day Medal in 1985 for his dominant
Best on Ground performance against Glenelg. Warren went on to represent
the NTFL a further five times against Essendon in 1986, 1989 and 1990; Port
Adelaide in 1989 and St Kilda in 1990. Warren was named in a different position in the Northern Territory News Team of the Year in seasons 1978/79,
1980/81 and 1985/86. Warren was also named in the Back to Cyclone Tracy
1974/1994 NTFL Team of Two Decades and was the only Magpies player included in the Toyota Top 20. Warren was awarded Life Membership to the
North Darwin Football Club in 1986/87, further being awarded an NTFL Player
Life Membership in 1990. Receiving Territory football’s greatest honour, we
welcome North Darwin legend, Warren ‘Jacko’ McCoy, into the AFLNT Hall of

Fame. (Source AFLNT Hall of Fame website).

Home Game this Sunday 16/11 v Wanderers
This weeks home game is on Sunday against Wanderers, with 7 games on the day, and a further 6 junior games on Friday
night, also mostly at Northline.
All Palmerston teams are starting to turn the corner led by the Premier League team, who won their second game last week.
This week is an important game so come on out and support the team as we look to consolidate our season.
Once again we are dependent on our support team—our players, parents and other volunteers who put their hands up to
help—in the canteen, as runners, scorers, medics, jumper washers, etc. We will have the roster board up again at training, so
please help out and put your name down early on the roster. Your help is appreciated.
Also spread the word to your friends. We want to see as many through the gate as we can. See you on Sunday.
PALMERSTON MAGPIES FOOTBALL CLUB
PMFC Volunteer of the Week
PMFC have a record 9 junior teams this year. To be able to have so many
teams requires the volunteer efforts of many parents and helpers.
This weeks PMFC Volunteers of the Week are Wayne Groves and Chrissy
Woodbury. As everyone is aware, Wayne and Chrissy are the backbone of
the Junior Footy operations. Wayne is the junior teams coordinator, Chrissy
is the team manager of the U16s teams

have a chat to Chrissy or Wayne.
Medics it seems are hard to come by, but at the Maggies we are very lucky. In years gone past, the club was well
served by long standing medic Robyn Garling, who was forced into retirement due to a work injury. Robyn your
service to this club is greatly appreciated. Last years Volunteer of the Year was medic Graham Vanderburg who has
toiled selflessly for the club and continues on again this year, and earlier this year Yvonne Neave was deservedly
nominated for Volunteer of the Week. More medics are needed so please have a chat to Kirby or Graham and we
can assist with training. One parent medic for each junior team is the ideal.
News in Brief
 Special mention to the U18s that drew
with the top of the table Big River
Hawks. Great work boys.
 Milestones—This week is Alwyn ‘Froggy’
Davey’s 100th game and Zac Stephenson's 50th. Good luck and great service.

This week we salute Madie Thomas-Smith. Madie has been a medic
for the juniors for a few years, but
this year has stepped up to also
assist the seniors. In fact this
weekend she officiated in 9 games.
Madie and your fellow medics of
Graham, Yvonne, Bianca, Michelle,
Simmo and Donna, your efforts are
greatly appreciated by the club.
Well done Madie, and thanks.
