FALL TEAMS:
Field Hockey:
The JV Raiders really came together as a team and finished their successful season with a 5-5-2 record!
The Varsity Raiders finished 2nd in Conference 11, which earned them a trip to the 5A South Regional
tournament. The Raiders made field hockey history by being the first team to advance to the semifinals
with a 4-1 victory over Matoaca. A 4-0 win in the semifinals over Manchester sends them to the Regional
finals at the National Training Center in VA Beach on November 7th and earned them a trip to the state
tournament at the beach on November 14th. Go Raiders!!!
Golf:
AHS Golf Team finished 3rd place at the Conference 11 Tournament behind DRHS and Godwin. Four
players were able to continue on to the 5A South Regional Tournament: Levi Brizendine, Erica
Whitehouse, Garrett Palmer, and Matthew Sweeney. Erica placed ninth in the 5A South Region with a
two day score of 155 and elected to play in the VHSL Girls State Tournament at Belle Haven CC in
Alexandria Virginia. She placed 14th out of 52 girls after the two day event. Overall, the Raiders Golf
Team had a very successful season and looking ahead, we are sad to see eight of our seniors leaving us
this year. We wish them the best moving forward!

FALL TEAMS:
Cross Country:
Both the boys' and girls' cross country teams are winding down successful seasons.
In the past two weeks, the boys have finished second in the Conference 11 Championships and fifth in
the 5A South Regional Championships. The team has qualified for this weekend's State Championship
Meet at Great Meadows near Warrenton.
Tre Fields has had two outstanding weeks, finishing second in both the conference and regional meets.
He was joined on the All-Conference team by Connor Moses and Chad Foltz, and he and Gabriel Hawkins
earned honors on the All-Region team. Andrew Franco, Beau Rowland, and Kieran Fraser have provided
support in these two meets. Michael Bright and Preston Eddleton are among several upperclassmen
adding depth, and Conor Helmick has led a very strong group of freshmen.
The girls are the Conference 11 champions, and as runners-up in the Regional Meet they have also
qualified for the State Meet.
Chloe Bavin placed 2nd in the conference and 5th in the region. Caitlin Donovan has been 4th in both
meets. Laney Owen, Kaitlyn Mason, and Logan Shearon joined these two girls on the All-Conference
team. Sarah Spinner, Cornelia Brower, and Mayah Valentin have added support. Jessica Faulk has
excelled in freshman races, and Emma Sudol has stood out in middle school events.
Football:
Boys Volleyball:
The month of October started out with a convincing win for the Atlee JV football team 26-6 versus
Hanover. They jumped out to a 20-0 lead at halftime against the Hawks and did not look back. Sadly, the
following week the Raiders lost their first game of the season to Varina 26-20. The game went back and
forth, but the Blue Devils would prevail thanks to a couple of big plays. How would Atlee respond… with a
50-0 dominating performance against the Glen Allen Jaguars. The game was never close and the Raiders
were clicking in all phases of the game. Armstrong decided to cancel their JV team for the season so we
had a bye week leading into the most anticipated game of the year. At the half, the game with Highland
Springs was tied at 6. Regulation ended with each team scoring 14. The first overtime finished with a 22
to 22 draw. In a hard fought game with a lot of exciting plays, the Raiders fell in double overtime to the
Springers by two points. They finished their season with a big win against the Confederates of Lee Davis.
It was a banner year for the Atlee Boys JV team finishing the season 19-0, with an overall 38-3 games
record. The highlight of the month was going 5-0 in the Tucker Invitational tournament and winning the
championship, over Patrick Henry, Ashland. Jake French and Matt Wiggins were honorable mention alltournament, Michael Norris, Grant Gregory and Alex Field were each named to the all-tournament
team. Alex Field was the tournament MVP.
The varsity boys are continuing on into the month of November in conference and regional play. During
the month of October the team beat Hanover and Freeman in 5 sets which helped secure the #1 seed for
the conference tournament. The match of the month was against Freeman at Freeman in the small gym in
front of a raucous home crowd wearing togas. Game 5 ended with Jeremy eye crushing one down the
line to put Atlee up 14-13 and Owen Ward acing the Freeman defense for the win. The team has been
led in kills by 6 different players throughout the year. The team is currently 19-1. The Raiders will play
Clover Hill on Tuesday, November 11 at Mills Godwin High School at 5:00 p.m.

WINTER TEAMS:
Girls Basketball:
The Atlee Lady Raiders Girls Basketball team is gearing up for the coming 2014/15 season. We
experienced some success last season and we need the best Atlee has to offer to build upon the ‘Rise of
Raider Nation’. We won a divisional Christmas tournament, advanced to the conference finals and made
a run to the regional semi-finals.
There is transition ever year and this year we had a few key losses. Everybody will work hard to improve
and a few key additions will aid us in our journey through the season.
This year’s team will be participating in the Times-Dispatch Invitational Tournament, the Prince George
Christmas Tournament as well as against our regular opponents. Come be a part of what Splash Weaver,
M-16, Sid the Kid, Jammin Jamari, Kool Kylie, Mad Dog, The Inspector, Big Sky, Crash Cochran, Sky Walker,
Big Wiggle and others have started. We mean business but it’s going to be fun.
The team is in need of student managers and a videographer. Tryouts are open to all. If you want more
information contact Coach Rawlings at [email protected] , call 804.382.3499 or leave
message in the athletic office. Check out girls’ basketball on our website www.atleeraiders.org and sign
up as a fan.
The Lady Raiders will open up with two scrimmages. The first scrimmage will be on Friday, November 21
against Prince George (JV @ 6:00 p.m. & Varsity @ 7:30 p.m.). The teams second scrimmage will be held
on Saturday, November 29 against Meadowbrook (JV @ 11:00 a.m. & Varsity @ 12:30 p.m.). Both
scrimmages will be held at Atlee High School.
The Lady Raiders will open up their regular season with a game against Patrick Henry on Monday,
December 1 (JV @ 6;00 p.m. & Varsity @ 7:30 p.m.) After the Patrick Henry Game the girls will play their
