2014 PROGRAMMING LINEUP HIGHLIGHTS OF
THE CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION FESTIVAL !

TORONTO, ON, November 12, 2014 – The 2nd annual Canadian International
Television Festival (CITF) has announced additions to the schedule. These
include: Global’s medical drama Remedy and hit daily serial from Quebec 30
Vies (with English subtitles) joining CITF's Binge-viewing series line up;
screening and Q&A with Eric Johnson of HBO’s The Knick; a 50th anniversary
screening of This Hour Has Seven Days; the world premiere of season 2 of
Bravo’s 19-2 followed by a Q&A with show runner Bruce Smith and executive
producer Jocelyn Deschênes; showrrunners Mark Ellis and Stephanie
Morgenstern will share with the audience the challenges and inspirations
behind their upcoming CBC drama series Camp X; and a fan event with a cast
reunion of Canada’s beloved series Corner Gas.
The CITF takes place from November 14-23 in Toronto at TIFF Bell Lightbox. For

Tickets for the events and screenings are free thanks to the support of CITF

Highlights include:
Corner Gas Cast reunion
In celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the debut of CTV’s smash-hit
Corner Gas, members of the beloved cast will reunite at CITF to give fans an
advance behind-the-scenes look of their new film, Corner Gas: The Movie,
followed by a Q&A moderated by eTalk’s Ben Mulroney.
The Knick
The CITF will present the first two episodes of Steven Soderbergh’s The Knick,
a gripping drama on HBO Canada featuring Oscar® and Emmy® nominee Clive
Owen as the brilliant Dr. John “Thack” Thackery. The Knick (short for The
Knickerbocker Hospital in New York City) begins in the year 1900, a time of
great scientific advancement and experimentation, but also a time of often
brutal methods and beliefs. Series regular Eric Johnson, who plays Dr. Everett
Gallinger, will participate in a discussion after the screening.

The CITF presents the world premiere of the emotional and gripping Season 2
debut of Bravo’s original drama series 19-2. Showrunner Bruce Smith and
executive producer Jocelyn Deschênes and will be on hand for a Q&A
immediately following the episode.
Camp X
Showrunners Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern will share the challenges and
inspirations behind their upcoming CBC historical adventure drama series Camp
X, which is set in the dangerous world of WWII espionage and covert operations.
Remedy and 30 Vies
Global’s medical drama Remedy as well as one of Quebec’s current hit dramas
30 Vies, have been added to the binge-watching schedule, which already
includes History’s Vikings, and SRC's Unité 9.
“It’s an exciting time in television and Canada has a lot to celebrate,” said
David Heath, board member of the Canadian International Television Festival. “For ten days the best in Canadian TV descends on Toronto where fans can
meet stars of their favourite show, and see world premiere episodes before
everyone else.”
Previously announced highlights include:
The Book of Negroes North American premiere
The CITF is presenting an exclusive advanced look at CBC and BET’s highly
anticipated mini-series, The Book of Negroes. Stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Aunjanue
Ellis, Lyriq Bent, Allan Hawco, and Lou Gossett Jr., co-writer & author,
Lawrence Hill, and director, co-writer, and executive producer, Clement Virgo,
are all scheduled to attend.
Republic of Doyle
The cast of Republic of Doyle will take a nostalgic look back at the series as the
broadcast of the final episode draws near.
YouTube series Carmilla live script reading
The cast of the hit YouTube hit series Carmilla will perform a live reading of three
episodes, participate in a Q&A panel and meet fans during an autograph session. Inside Scoop with Show Creators
Laurie Finstad Knizhnik, creator and show runner CBC’s Strange Empire will
discuss the series on WGC's regular panel series “Writers Talking TV”; and hardhitting serialized drama Blackstone creator Ron E. Scott will do a Q&A following
a sneak peek of the new season.
A Look Back at Vintage Television
Hart Pomerantz and special guests will attend a screening of Lorne Michaels and
Pomerantz’ The Hart & Lorne Terrific Hour which was a precursor to Michaels’
Saturday Night Live. CITF will also acknowledge the 50th anniversary of This
Hour Has Seven Days, a ground-breaking news program created by Patrick Watson
and Douglas Leiterman and featuring the talents of Dinah Christie; and popular
TV columnist Bill Brioux will present gems of lost and historic TV.
For the Industry Pros
CITF audiences will get a presentation of CBC Comedy Coup, CBC CineCoup Media
and Just For Laughs Television’s innovative, digital comedy accelerator. Damon
D’Oliveira and Clement Virgo from top Canadian prodco Conquering Lion
Pictures, will appear on a panel with other behind-the-scenes talents of The Book
of Negroes to discuss with up-and-coming TV creators how an acclaimed
Canadian novel became one of the most anticipated TV dramas in the world.
The Canadian International Television Festival (CITF) is an independent new
social enterprise with the mission to showcase television content and talent
from Canada and around the world via a dynamic festival experience. It is the
only TV festival in Canada aimed at both the public and industry. While the
primary focus of the CITF is to showcase Canadian scripted series, the 2nd
annual festival will also screen and explore TV programs from different regions
of the world and from other genres. The first CITF was held Nov 15-17 2013.
Participants gathered at TIFF Bell Lightbox for a variety of events including a
marathon screening of BBC’s Sherlock; the world premiere of Dave Foley’s Spun
Out; the 15th anniversary cast reunion of Rick Mercer’s Made In Canada; and
British drama series A Young Doctor's Notebook, starring Jon Hamm and Daniel
Radcliffe. The inaugural festival also included a forum on ‘TV Fandom’
featuring marketing specialists from Fan Expo, CMPA, Shaftesbury, CineCoup,
