merican Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait’s premier
voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and
Environmental organization, strives to provide professional
guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and
social sectors in the region. The fourth Executive Committee Meeting
of American Society of Safety Engineer (ASSE) - Kuwait Chapter was
held on 28 October 2014 at Kohinoor Banquet Hall in Fahaheel. In
the welcome address; Mohammed Riaz Shareef, Chapter President
appraised that the Chapter activities has gone in his full pace after
the Summer Vacations and Eid Holidays. He also informed that the
program organized by WISE Committee; exclusively participated by
women; was well appreciated by the community.
In his address; Fadhel Al-Ali, Chairman - ASSE Kuwait Chapter,
commended the activities conducted by the chapter during the
month of October. The progress of chapter activities and the financial details were presented by the Chapter Treasurer and Actg
Secretary Dinesh Dutta. A delegation of ASSE-Kuwait Chapter visited
Mohammed Hussain, CEO - Equate to explore the opportunities for
mutual beneficial partnership. The delegation consisted Fadhel AlAli, Chairman, Golamari Sampath Reddy, Chapter Vice President and
Dinesh Dutta, Chapter Treasurer & Actg. Secretary.
The progress of Annual Plans of various sub-committees were
reviewed during the meeting: Training Committee Head, Sanjay
Jaiswal highlighted that the training programs including NEBOSH
IGC, SCBA certification training are planned for the members; as per
the training need assessment survey conducted among the workers.
Membership Committee Head, Muvala Ramu updated the membership status, membership renewal status. An ID card is being planned
to issue to all members who hold a valid ASSE membership.
Occupational Health and Environment Committee Head, Jignesh
Shah appraised that workshop on “Managing Waste” will be conducting in the month of December 2014. Technical Committee Head,
Ritesh Gupta briefed about the Technical meet on the Bow Tie
Analysis scheduled for on October 29, 2014. Women in Safety
Engineering (WISE) Committee Head, Janet Najare appraised the
committee on the First Aid Awareness for Housewives conducted on
16th October. A similar session is planned on How to use Fire
Extinguishers exclusively for ladies.
Outreach Committee Head, Satya Narayana briefed about the
outreach activities including Defensive Driving program conducted
for the drivers of M/s HOT Engineering and Contracting Company.
Publications Committee Head, Sunil N Sadanadan briefed about the
newsletter updates on the social networking websites like Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. Articles on HSE related topics from
members are requested for publishing in the newsletter. The
Executive Committee informed that ASSE Kuwait Chapter will establishing an Exhibition Booth for the upcoming Technical Conference
organized by Tamilnadu Engineers Forum. The Executive Committee
also informed that members will be participated in the conference as
ASSE-KC representatives.
The Executive Committee approved the two new awards one for
Environment and the second for Corporate Social Responsibility
among the GCC HSSE Excellence Awards-2015. It was approved to
conduct a training on CPR and FA in Arabic for the benefit of teachers of Jabriya School. The meeting concluded with the Vote of Thanks
by Chapter Vice President, Golamari Sampath Reddy; who acclaimed
the voluntary efforts of the core committee and the subcommittee
members and requested to continue the same efforts for keeping
the society activities high.

13 Dasman Diabetes Institute will celebrate the World
Diabetes Day 2014 on Thursday Nov 13, 2014. The event will
include clinical consultations, activities for kids, first aid techniques, complimentary medical testing and screening, healthy
cooking sessions nutritional and pharmaceutical counseling.
The public is invited to join and be part of promoting awareness, education and prevention diabetes from 4 - 9 pm.
14 Arpan Kuwait is presenting Raag ‘n’ Rachna, a combination of musical and artistic program where the audience gets

28 Friends of CRY Club (FOCC), announces plans for 2014

‘Planning for Agility’ makes a splash in Dubai

indshare, which is part of WPP, is a global media

most recent media summit, operating under the theme
“Planning for Agility,” brought together the industry’s
brightest minds to discuss harmonizing Paid, Owned, and
Earned channels to maximize brand awareness and marketing effectiveness.
“Planning for Agility” drew in a thrilling array of celebrity
speakers from the fields of tech, brain science, sports, and
more. Daniel Sieberg, Author of “The Digital Diet” and
Google’s Head of Media Outreach moderated throughout
the day, beginning with Dutch football superstar Ruud
Gullit, who shared his on- and off-field experience in an
action-packed panel titled “Planning Ahead to Score Future

Meydan Gallery at The Meydan Hotel, Dubai, the event
attracted a vast array of industry professionals seeking
expertise in creating communications that are relevant,
engaging, and powerful for consumers.

McDonald’s launches Happy Meal Ambassador in Kuwait

n Friday 7th November, 2014,
McDonald’s launched HAPPY in
Kuwait. HAPPY is the ambassador for
the Happy Meal and will take its place in the
McDonald’s family alongside Ronald
McDonald, as an educational character that
promotes healthy options for kids. To cele-
brate the launch, an event was held at the
McDonald’s branch in Sabah Al Salam from
4pm to 8pm.
“The launch of HAPPY in Kuwait introduces a fun character that children can
engage with and learn from. At the same
time, HAPPY joins McDonald’s as an ambassador to promote a healthy and active
lifestyle for children, informing parents of
the healthy choices available with the
Happy Meal. We are very pleased to have
HAPPY join the McDonald’s family in Kuwait,
and we are confident that children and
adults alike will love our newest member,”
commented Sherif Coutry, Marketing
Director at McDonald’s Kuwait.
The event at the Sabah Al Salem branch
was an evening of fun-filled activities for the
children and the whole family, with HAPPY
being featured as the central character.
Games included a life-sized board game, a
HAPPY puzzle, a selfie booth and the HAPPY
jump, with McDonald’s long-time brand
ambassador, Ronald McDonald, taking part
in all the fun. Families received points for participating in the activities, which they were
able to redeem for prizes. “Families are very
important to us at McDonald’s and HAPPY,
along with Ronald McDonald, will encourage
families to spend time together, as well as act
as a reminder of the wholesome choices we
are promoting for children,” added Coutry.
‘Incredible India’, a journey through states
A
n “Incredible India - a Journey through States” presented
through a vast variety of dance forms as well as fascinating display of handicrafts was organized under the
guidance of Dr Gargi Jain, Spouse of Indian Ambassador to
Kuwait, in the 350-seat Indian Embassy Auditorium on
November 8. Sixteen Indian schools in Kuwait participated in this
event. The objective was to highlight the rich cultural heritage
of India. Number of Indian companies showcased their products, included Malabar Gold, Sanskriti Fashion, Girnar Tea,
Rasna Juice and India Heritage.
A raffle draw and door prize distribution at this event were
done by spouses of Ambassadors of the US, China, Japan,
Russia and UNDP. The first prize in the competition, which
was a tie, was bagged jointly by the Indian Community
School, Amman Branch and Carmel School, Khaitan. The second prize went to the United Indian School, Abbasiya, and
the third prize to the Gulf Indian School, Fahaheel.
The dance troupe from Jabriya Indian School, Jabriya had
novel participation of students from Lebanon, Iran and
Bangladesh, in addition to Indian students. Salmiya Indian
Model School entered the competition at a short notice even
without a music teacher. The Indian Community School,
Junior Branch merited special praise for a splendid performance despite being very young in age. The national anthems
of India and Kuwait were played by the band of the Gulf
Indian School. The event was a stupendous success as it was
attended by a cross-section of prominent Kuwaiti ladies and
other embassies and international organizations accredited to
Kuwait.
