A Word
Your Pastor Search Committee
Finding a pastor is not something for a committee to do, rather it is something for the whole
church to do. The committee is to merely lead
the church in this process. Since ultimately it is
the church’s decision to vote, the whole church
should take on the
responsibility through
prayer. Your committees have developed
some ways in which
you can be involved:
Prayer Triplets
3 people meeting
together to pray. A
Prayer Triplets
pamphlet is available
to help guide you.

Call to Prayer on the 1st Wednesday
Wednesday, November 5, 2014 will be a focused
time of prayer for our church as we move through
the search for our next pastor. The church will
gather at 6:00 p.m. on the First Wednesday in the
Sanctuary to pray specifically for the search
committee and the man that God has prepared to
serve as our next pastor. Please make plans to
attend as our Children’s Ministry will be leading.
On Mission in 2014-15
Pressing On … Until He Comes! The
theme for our mission ministry in the coming year
is Pressing On … Until He Comes. The booklet
has been delayed as we wait on information from
several mission partners around the world.
Booklets will be available Sunday, November 9 for
all missional opportunities during the 2015 church
year. Begin praying now as to where the Lord
would have you serve in the coming year to help
carry the gospel to the lost.

CHRISTMAS 2014
Join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior ...
We are only a couple months away from the end of
another year. As this year continues to fly by I hope
that all of us stop to meditate on the many blessings
God has given us this year.
Our annual Turkey Bowl will be held on November
16th at 3:00 p.m. at Robins Field. In keeping this game
fun for our students, we are limiting this game to be
the students versus the parents and Student Grow
Group teachers only. After the game our students will
have a bonfire and cookout at the Poe's.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Preschool choirs and grade school children will lead our congregation in
worship of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We will celebrate His birth. Our
preschoolers will sing special songs of His birth. “An Unplugged
Christmas” will be presented by our grade school children on
December 7. Lindsey and her friends are excited! Why? The local TV
station is having a contest for “The Biggest, Brightest Christmas Show
Ever” and they are entered to win! They've planned a great show to
impress the secret judge – lots of lights, a rockin' carol medley, and
even a Silent Night light show. However, all goes well until BAM, all
the lights go off! It is in the quiet of a small shining star that they are
reminded that Jesus is the true Light of Christmas! You will not want
to miss this musical by our children… “An Unplugged Christmas.”
THREE GIFTS…Our
Christmas Offering
is the title of our Adult Christmas musical. Three gifts, gifts of great
significance: gold, frankincense and myrrh were laid at the feet of
the Christ Child. These were gifts
that could only come from royal
treasures, but the gifts we bring are
of much greater value to the Lord.
My life, my heart, my praise, all of
my desires, all of my accomplishments, all of my failures, all of the
thanksgiving I can comprehend, all
of me, the surrender of my imagined
authority to the Author of all life, the
Giver of every good and perfect gift.
Jesus. Messiah. We are praying that
people will experience the Lord
through worship as our choir and
orchestra lead us in, “Three Gifts …
Our Christmas Offering.”

Reading the Bible Together This Month
will take us through 2 Timothy
and all the way to 1 Peter. 2 Timothy is Paul’s last preserved letter. It is written to Timothy
and to the church. He is writing from prison in Rome and urging Timothy to remain faithful
to Paul and to the Gospel. The message is the same for us to remain faithful to the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Titus is written to a Gentile brother who had traveled with Paul and was in charge of the
churches on Crete. The book is to encourage him in the way the churches should be set
up and to stay away from false teachers. He reminds us to always be about doing good
for the kingdom.
Philemon is written to Philemon who hosted a church in his home. Paul and Timothy write
to him to secure forgiveness for a run away slave who has become a believer and wants
to be reconciled with Philemon. Paul is reminding us all that we can be reconciled with
other believers because of our common faith. This is the final book in the NT we have
from the hand of Paul. As believers we are so indebted to this amazing man of God for
the influence he has had through the centuries.
Many of our classes are presently studying the book of Hebrews. The writer who was
apparently a second generation believer is a master of using the Word to argue that
Jesus is the absolute Son of God and to exhort his readers who are experiencing doubt
and discouragement. It is written to a predominantly Jewish group of believers. It is written
to help them see that Jesus is the One who fulfills the Old Testament scriptures and who
is superior over all. Jesus is truly God’s final word.
The author of James is the brother of our Lord Jesus. He led the church at Jerusalem for
many years. He is writing to believers who are experiencing trials and dissensions in the
church. He reminds them and us that trials are part of life and God uses them to mature
us. He encourages us to put our faith to work and to beware of how dangerous our tongue
can be. He points out that we are to live by faith.
1 Peter is a letter of encouragement to believers who are enduring persecution and
suffering because of their faith. He urges us all to live a life worthy of our calling. We are
to be like Christ, even in the midst of suffering.

THANKFULNESS …

kids’ teachers know you are
thankful for them.
