T
he Cabot School District, seventh
largest in the state, encompasses much
of northwest Lonoke County. It includes
the cities of Cabot, Austin and Ward. The
community’s dedication to education is the
primary reason why Cabot is one Arkansas’
fastest growing cities. Established in 1875,
the district is recognized as one of the
most progressive in the state in terms of
instructional strategies, programming, and

technology. It is governed by a seven member
school board.
Nine elementary schools, two middle
schools, two junior high schools, one high
school and one charter school currently make
up the district. The Cabot School District is
committed to educating all students to be
responsible citizens who value learning, treat
others with dignity and respect, and adapt
successfully to the demands of the rapidly
changing society.

certified staff, with 49% holding advanced
degrees and 72 National Board Certified
teachers. Support staff includes 587 classified
employees that fill roles of secretaries,
maintenance, custodians and bus drivers.
Currently 10,225 students are enrolled in
grades K-12 with an additional 260 students
served in the district’s pre-kindergarten
program. Elementary schools serve students
from kindergarten through fourth grade,
two middle schools serve students in grades
five and six, two junior highs serve students
in grades seven through ninth and one high
school serves students in grades ten through
twelve. The Academic Center of Excellence
(ACE) is a conversion charter school that
provides a unique educational opportunity for
students in grades seven to twelve.
The Cabot Freshman Academy will
open the fall of 2014 and will be designed
specifically for ninth grade students. The
Freshman Academy will provide unique
opportunities for all incoming ninth grade
students. The Academy will offer full
programming to include the arts, athletics,
band, career and technical programs along
with core educational programs. This facility
will be designed for a smaller, more personal
learning community that fosters a culture of
rigorous academic standards while establishing
relevancy and relationships within each
academic area. The benefits of the Academy
are to increase student achievement, increase
student attendance, encourage student
involvement and participation in school
activities and functions, aid with the social
transition to the high school environment, and
to increase class identity and cohesiveness.
Students in all grade levels are challenged
daily with exciting curriculum and real
world experiences. Cabot is the only district
of this level in the state of Arkansas to offer
an AP Academy. The AP Academy offers
a relevant and challenging educational
experience which emphasizes critical/creative
problem solving, effective communication,
and community service. In 2013, over 325
students graduated from advanced placement
courses and concurrent credit college courses
at the high school level. A vast array of career
and technical courses are offered, which
include construction, auto mechanics, various
medical and nursing courses, law enforcement,
business, broadcasting and agriculture.
Students may earn over 160 hours of college
credit opportunities on our high school
campus.
Over the last 3 years, Cabot High School
has produced 27 National Merit SemiFinalists.
Through the Parent Internet Viewer
program supported by Pinnacle system,
the district offers “real time” access to
parents regarding their child’s grades and
attendance. Parents have the ability to check
grades and attendance and view student’s
class assignments. Parents can receive email
notifications to let them know when their
child’s grade has dropped below a certain
threshold. In addition, when their child is
marked absent, they can opt to be notified
by email. The site offers homework assistance
for parents to access when helping their child
with assignments at home. Parents are notified
of school closings, school events, school
meetings, etc., through an automated phone
system and the district website. The phone
system has the ability to contact all district
parents in 30 minutes or less.

parental involvement and support from the
local business community, and the City
of Cabot combine to make the district an
excellent choice for parents that desire a great
educational experience for their family.

T
he campus of Arkansas State University
–Beebe is located a quick 15 minute
drive north of the city of Cabot. The college
has been preparing students for successful
college careers or the workforce for 80 plus
years. The college offers a plethora of options
for those students wanting to pursue an
associate’s degree or technical certificate,
transfer to a four-year university or enter
the workforce.
The bustling ASU Beebe University
campus is located in the heart of central
Arkansas. In addition, ASU has campuses
located in Searcy, Heber Springs and at the
Little Rock Air Force Base.
For those students seeking a four-year
degree, classes from ASU-Jonesboro are
available on the Beebe campus.
The ASU Campus located at the Little
Rock Air Force Base offers 8-week classes
versus the traditional 16 weeks, which might
be more suitable for some schedules.

offers students flexibility and ease of access.

Pulaski Technical College, located in
nearby North Little Rock, offers more than 40
associate degrees and certificate programs of
study. The continuing education and outreach
program at the college is one of the largest
of its kind among two-year colleges located
within the state.

The City of Cabot can trace its beginnings to1873 when the railroad built a water and fuel stop where the bustling city now stands. It was
incorporated as a city in 1891. Similar to many Arkansas towns, Cabot owes its existence to the railroad. It is widely believed that the town was

Property Tax: The state of Arkansas does
not have a property tax. However, Arkansas
cities and counties do collect a property tax,
which is the principal source of revenue used to
fund the states’ public school districts.
The tax is calculated based on 20% of the
fair market value of real and personal property
and the average annual value of merchants
stocks and/or manufacturers inventories. The
millage rate established by individual school
districts is used to compute the amount of

Cabot WaterWorks has secured adequate
water supply through most of the twenty first
century. Cabot recently completed construction
of a 9 MGD pipeline to Central Arkansas Water.
We have additional long term capacity planned
from Greers Ferry and DeGray lakes. Our
current ground water well fields will be retained
for a long term emergency backup supply.
Cabot WaterWorks has a new state-ofthe-art wastewater treatment facility with
capacity well into the twenty first century.
Cabot WaterWorks maintains strategic water
and wastewater master plans to accommodate
immediate and long term growth.

medical centers just minutes away… quality healthcare is there for everyone.

rom specialists to general practice,
from general dentistry, pediatrics
and orthodontia to vision care the Cabot
area has a great number of choices for
accessible and quality medical care. If
you need physical therapy or in-home
care, providers are close at hand. Medical
Clinics - including an urgent-care clinic
- offer many kinds of services, including
well-baby checkups, routine and complex
examinations, drug screening and
laboratory testing and x-ray capabilities.
North Metro Medical Center, a 118-bed,
24-hour acute care facility offering a complete
range of inpatient and outpatient services, is
located in nearby Jacksonville just 10 miles
from most Cabot residents.
Other nearby advanced medical facilities
which include a range of in and outpatient
services are Baptist Health Medical Center
(North Little Rock and Little Rock), St.
Vincent Medical Center at Sherwood and
the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences
(UAMS) which is one of the state’s largest
public employers with over 9,000 employees.
White County Medical Center and White
County Medical Center South are located
north of Cabot in the city of Searcy. The
hospital offers state-of-the art medical services
to area citizens.
Another excellent health and medical
organization located nearby is Arkansas
Children’s Hospital. The Hospital is the only
pediatric medical center in Arkansas and is one
of the largest hospitals in the United States.
Located in Little Rock, it serves children from
birth to age 21. It is home to Arkansas’ only
Burn Center.
The world-renowned Arkansas Cancer
Research Center is located in nearby
Little Rock.

is our mission to acquire, develop and maintain exemplary
parks and recreational facilities and programs for all ages, interests
and needs.
We encourage our residents to get in touch with the outdoors
by enjoying one of our six parks and their many amenities. Go

pened in 2006 to much anticipation, the Veterans Park Community Center
is conveniently located across from Cabot High School. Members enjoy the
heated swimming and therapy pools year around by swimming laps, participating in
a water aerobics class, or renting the area for a birthday party. Swim lessons are taught
all throughout the year by Red Cross certified instructors. The basketball courts are a great place to join in a Sunday afternoon
pickup game or to enjoy watching your child play in our popular youth basketball league. The walking track, cardio equipment,
fully accessible locker rooms, and many other amenities will ensures all their needs are met.
The Community Center offers a wide variety of aerobic classes, both land and water, as well as personal training. We are
proud to be a SilverSneaker facility, offering programs that have a unique blend of physical activity, healthy lifestyle and socially
oriented programming that enable older adults to take greater control of their health. Child care is conveniently provided. The
Veterans Park Community Center also houses the Cabot Parks and Recreation Administration offices, so come by and see what
we have to offer!

Aquatic Class Descriptions
Splash Fit
Splash Fit offers lots of fun and shallow water moves
to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance.
Aquatic fitness tools are used to develop strength, balance and
coordination. No swimming ability is required.
Aqua Arthritis
The Arthritis Foundation Aquatics class is designed for
those who have been diagnosed with Arthritis, or anyone that is
experiencing aches and pains in their muscles and joints. This
class is designed without the stress of other alternatives, such as
land exercise. The ability to swim is not required. Instructor will
match routines to each individual fitness level.
Aqua Fit
This class is designed for those who want a whole body
aerobic and strength training workout without strain on your
joints and back. Water aerobics is a great combination of fun and
exercise. Exercises will be modified depending on your level of
fitness. No swimming ability is required.
Aqua Zumba®
The Aqua Zumba® program gives new meaning to an
invigorating workout. Splashing, stretching, twisting, shouting,
laughing, hooting and hollering are often heard during an
Aqua Zumba® class. ZUMBA®…Make a splash! Bring the
Party to the Pool!
H2O Cardio
A more intense aqua class, this class integrates a
combination of running, noodle cycling and swimming
(with flotation devices) which increases cardiovascular
endurance, strengthens muscles and burns up to 500 calories
an hour. Non swimmers welcome!
Fitness Class Descriptions
Boot camp – High intensity strength and cardio class. Get ready to
work it! Boot Camp works you head to toe so you’ll be ready for anything
life brings.
Busy Bees – Movement and Fitness classes for children ages 2–4
(accompanied by a parent)This 55 minute parent and child class will
focus on development of coordination, balance,
strength and flexibility through an array of activities
including creative movement with music and
parachute time. In addition to having fun with
fitness and learning some beginning sports skills;
the development of social skills including listening,
following directions, communicating with peers,
and cooperation is also emphasized
Cardio Dance Party – Dance inspired cardio
workout. Super fun moving and grooving to great
music. A Zumba alternative including Latin, Hip
Hop, and Top 40 music.
Interval Pump – A strength training/cardio combination class that
alternates strength training exercises with intervals of cardio training to
sculpt every major muscle group. Try Interval Pump for a truly balanced
workout that will get your heart pumping
Interval Training – This class has it all: strength training,
cardiovascular conditioning and flexibility. Interval training yields optimal
cardiovascular and strength benefits while efficiently working you from
head to toe.
KickBox – Kick, punch and groove the calories away in this action
packed, super fun cardiovascular workout. Great music and energy help
you blast the calories and fat.
Kid Fit – For children ages 5 to 12, held in the gym and pool. This
class includes activities and games that focus on cardiovascular endurance,
strength, flexibility and basic sports concepts. Come
and join us for fun with fitness while learning good
sportsmanship, social skills with peers, and listening
and communication skills. In the pool we work on
swimming basics and water safety.
Pilates – Pilates is a series of non–impact
exercises designed by Joseph Pilates to develop
strength, flexibility, balance, and inner awareness.
Pilates is a form of strength and flexibility training
that can be done by someone at any level of fitness.
PowerPump – Weight training class designed to improve muscular
strength and endurance and, in doing so, burn calories. PowerPump
focuses on each of the major muscle groups, including your legs, chest,
back, shoulders, and abdominals, using the best weight–room exercises like
squats, lunges, lifts, presses and curls.
Power Yoga – Vigorous fitness based approach to vinyasa (flow) yoga
that increases strength and flexibility.
Designed for any level, modification
and variations will be offered.
Shake-up – Need something
different to keep you from getting
bored? This is the class for you!
This class will rotate through all the
different fitness classes that we offer.
Look for the weekend class schedule
each month.
Strength Training – Resistance training exercises involving weights
and resistance tubing designed to build muscle and increase strength.
Benefits include building stronger bones, while improving flexibility,
stability and balance. Building muscle also helps with fat loss in the long
term.
SilverSneakers® – Classic (Formerly Muscular
Strength & Range of Movement) Have fun and
move to the music through a variety of exercises
designed to increase muscular strength, range
of movement, and activity for daily living skills.
Hand–held weights, elastic tubing with handles,
and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is
used for seated and/or standing support.
SilverSneakers® – Circuit (Formerly Cardio
Circuit) Combine fun with fitness to increase your
cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with
a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength
work with hand–held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is
alternated with non–impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for
support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
SilverSneakers® – Yoga (Formerly YogaStretch) SilverSneakers® Yoga
will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing
yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures
designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative
breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and
mental clarity.
Step – Great Cardio Workout. Fun choreography using a step to get
your heart pumping.
Step n Sculpt – Uses the step to get your cardio workout, and weights,
bars, and bands to sculpt that body.
Turbo Kick® – A workout that combines shadow
boxing, kickboxing, sports drills, yoga, and simple
dance moves in a party atmosphere. Turbo Kick is
an interval based class that allows participants of any
fitness level to participate and custom tailor their
work–out. While the feel and spirit of the workout
remains consistent, each new workout is more fun,
exciting, sexy, powerful and effective than the last!
Kelly P is Turbo Kick ® certified.
Yoga – Appropriate for the beginner who wants to build a strong
foundation of basic Yoga postures and breathing techniques, as well as for
the practitioner who wants to refine and master the fundamentals. It is an
invitation to stretch, relax, unwind, de–stress.
ZUMBA® – Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin
and international music and dance movements, creating a dynamic, exciting,
exhilarating, and effective fitness system. Previous dance experience is not
necessary.
ZUMBA® Toning – When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba®
Toning raises the bar (or rather, the hand weights). It combines targeted
body–sculpting exercises and high–energy cardio work with Latin–
infused Zumba moves to create a calorie–torching, strength–
training dance fitness–party. Students learn how to use
lightweight, toning sticks to enhance rhythm and tone
all their target zones, including arms, abs and thighs.
Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts
to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a
total blast. Toning sticks are used, but not
required.

components of the growth of the city of Cabot: Cabot School District and Little Rock Air Force Base.

hile Cabot continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in the great state of Arkansas, it has maintained is small town charm. Whether
you are looking at moving your business, family, or grandparents to Cabot, I think that you will find this community a very friendly and
welcoming environment. Being in close proximity to the Little Rock Air Force Base, your future neighbors are use to newcomers moving in and they
are ready to put the “Welcome Home” sign out for you.
The Cabot Chamber of Commerce would love to assist you whether you are considering starting or moving a new or existing business to
Cabot or merely your family. Our staff and volunteers are at your disposal to answer your questions which are common when considering a move or
relocation. I chose to move my family here approximately 15 years ago, and have not regretted that move for one minute.
We would love to have you as a Chamber member. Our membership presents an excellent opportunity for networking whether to promote
your own business or merely to find and locate the variety of services and amenities that our local businesses are ready to provide you. If you are a
newcomer looking to get plugged in to the community, we are a great resource to share the multitude of volunteer opportunities that are available

The City of Cabot has recently approved a very progressive organized plan supported by its citizens to facilitate our continued growth well into
the future. The Cabot Parks and Recreation has a tremendous new facility that includes new ball parks and water park which is scheduled to break
ground in the near future. The Cabot Public Schools which is our largest employer is second to none in the state for providing a safe environment and
quality education opportunities not only for kids, but by partnering with ASU-Beebe to provide college level classes. The school district is also set to
up open its new freshman academy for 9th graders only in the fall of this year.
This directory goes out to some 10,000 residents annually as well as being provided to visitors and prospective businesses to Cabot. Hopefully
you will find this guide as a useful tool in your one stop shopping in Cabot and as always we always encourage you to support our local businesses

T
he City of Cabot and the men and women serving and
working at the Little Rock Air Force Base have formed a
special bond over the 60 + years that the base has been located in
the Cabot/Jacksonville area.
The base encompasses 6,100 acres and includes on runway and
one assault landing strip. More than 8,000 active-duty, Air National
Guard, Reserve and civilian members, and approximately 15,000 family
members live and work on or around the base. An estimated 52,000
retirees live in the region.
Located just eight miles south, Cabot’s appeal to the men and
women stationed at the base residing in the city of Cabot is the
numerous established neighborhoods, hometown atmosphere and the
Cabot School District, one of Arkansas’ highest ranked school districts.
The base’s total impact on the regional economy in fiscal years
2012 totaled $895.6 million. Additionally, the base is the 4th largest
employer in the state of Arkansas and created nearly 3,800 indirect jobs
in 2012.
The Team Little Rock Mission is made up of the 19th Airlift Wing
and three partner units: Air Education and Training Command’s 314th
Airlift Wing, the Arkansas National
Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing and the
Air Force Reserve Command’s 22nd
Air Force, Detachment 1.
The 314th Airlift Wing is the nation’s tactical airlift “Center of
Excellence” and trains C-130 aircrew members from the Department
of Defense, Coast Guard and 46 allied nations. The C-130 Hercules
aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and fulfills a wide
range of operational missions in war and peace situations. The 19th
Airlift Wing is home to more than 45 C-130 H and J models.
Over the years, the citizens of Cabot and the Air Force Base have
developed a special kinship and all involved are constantly working on
ways to make the quality of life here the best available.
