John’s love of leather work began in the 60’s. He’s been
developing his craft ever since. For the last 40 years (where did
the time go?) he has created a wide variety of leather goods
including museum reproductions & contemporary accessories. All leather items sold
in the store are made in the adjoining workshop by John and his skilled staff. Getting

In my studio you will find many painted images. They are
built with line and colour to convey an impression, an
experience, a story. As I work, figures appear, relationships
build, place evolves. If I can keep the lines and forms strong,
and the relationships clear, a story will be told and will have effect even if I made it up.

Our little shoppe is situated on our family farm; our flock is shorn in the spring and their
wool is transformed through spinning, dyeing, felting, weaving and knitting! Beautiful
and unique textile accessories such as blankets, hand-dyed yarn, scarves, shawls,
sheepskins, hats and mittens are crafted in our studio above the store. Getting There:
Located 1km off Rte 19 in Mabou. Turn onto the side road by the Mabou River Inn &

Darryl is an established, versatile jeweller. His creations in
gold, silver & gemstones feature unique jewellery with
wide-ranging appeal. Celtic inspired designs are inherent in his work, as well as
recurring textural themes found in leaves, shells & fossils that reflect the natural beauty

Suzanne opened her summer art gallery in 1971. Her “in-house”gallery includes oil
and mixed media paintings, archival reproductions and prints. She paints in a style
well recognized for her controlled use of color and her painterly, poetic impressionist
manner. She is inspired by her scenic surroundings, the Cape Breton style music her
late husband loved so profoundly and the caring people who inhabit, work and love
this land. Getting There: The white house on the hill behind and next to Mabou Gaelic
