Many adults and juniors underestimate the value of the split step, but it proves vital if wanting to get a good jump on the ball. The reason for the importance of the split step is that it gives balance and the ability to BETTER push off to the ball. One should split step (heals off the ground) right as the opponent hits the ball. A good wide split step will provide balance and a greater ability to push off with the outside leg. Even on serves it is crucial to split step right as the server hits the ball. Just watch any of the top pros as they are all anticipating, getting their body moving with a split step. You'll be amazed how much quicker to the ball you will become by using this valuable tool properly. So, next time you are on the court, focus on the split step, and enjoy better coverage, better anticipation and hence, better results! 6 Annuities 7 1 2 3 4 5 6 Challenge Court 7 8 9 10 11 12 Challenge Court 14 Challenge Court 15 17 16 18 19 Challenge Court 21 20 Challenge Court 22 23 24 Challenge Court 28 13 25 27 26 Challenge Court 29 31 30 Challenge Court 8 Newport Beach Tennis Club 2601 Eastbluff Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92660 Ph: 949 644 0050 website: www.nbtennisclub.com
