A Continuing Medical
Education Activity
COURSE OVERVIEW
Continuous advances in clinical science require pediatric primary care practitioners
to obtain comprehensive, up-to-date information on a wide range of medical issues
encountered in daily practice. Based on identified clinical challenges of perspective
learners and recommendations from expert faculty, Challenging Cases in Clinical
Pediatrics – East Bay will focus on current evaluation and management strategies
in these selected clinical areas: dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology,
neurology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, rheumatology, and urology.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
• Evaluate and employ the most appropriate treatment options for acne & eczema
• Recognize and formulate treatment plans for infantile gastroesophageal reflux
disease and celiac disease
• Develop an approach to evaluate and manage short stature and
precocious puberty
• Assess and implement current guidelines for cryptorchidism and urinary
tract infection
• Recognize and formulate treatment plans for management of juvenile rheumatoid
arthritis and lupus
• Evaluate and utilize the best treatment plan to manage pulmonary distress
• Develop a strategy to diagnose and treat patients presenting with atypical back
pain and acute knee injury
• Identify and implement treatment plans for chronic headache and first
time seizures
