IMPORTANT—SIGNING IN LATE PUPILS NEW TRIAL PROCEDURE FOR SIGNING IN LATE PUPILS. THE REASON WE ARE DOING THIS IS WE HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF TRICKY CONVERSATIONS WITH PARENTS WHEN WE HAVE PHONED HOME TO ASK WHERE THE CHILD IS, ONLY TO FIND THEY ARE ACTUALLY IN SCHOOL BUT THE N CODE HASN’T BEEN CHANGED IN THE REGISTER. Dear all We have been experiencing issues with the current procedure for pupils signing in when they are late and therefore from TUESDAY 25th NOVEMBER 2014 a new procedure will be put in place. It is EXTREMELY important that pupils are signed in correctly to ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed as well as progress is achieved. The new procedure will be as follows: If a pupil arrives in school after the 8.45am bell they should go directly to pupil reception (not their form room) to sign in. If a pupil arrives in form after the 8.45am bell but before the 8.50 bell and they haven’t got a slip from reception, again please send them to pupil reception to sign in – THEY ARE LATE AFTER THE 8.45 BELL EVEN IF THEY GET TO FORM DURING FORM TIME If a pupil arrives to your P1 lesson and is marked as ‘N’ for am registration and they do not have a late slip, please send them to pupil reception to sign in. DO NOT change the registers or add minutes late for either am registration or P1, Marie will do this! If a pupil arrives at your lesson late but HAS a mark for am registration you must mark them as late and enter the minutes late to your register yourself. Marie will be entering the pupils late as from Tuesday directly onto SIMS therefore there should be NO pupils recorded as ‘N’ at am registration. The late slips will be a different design but will have the date stamped on them and the time the pupil has arrived in school, please check the date is correct and the pupils has gone directly to your lesson from signing in (i.e. not taken 20 minutes to get to your lesson from pupil reception.) I know this looks really complicated but in essence all it really means is - if a pupil arrives at your lesson and has an ‘N’ mark on the register for am registration – send them to Pupil Reception, do not accept the pupils excuses!!! Minutes late will be recorded and once a pupil reaches an agreed number of minutes for the week they will be put in C3 detention. Thank you! Marie Richardson ASSEMBLIES THIS WEEK!
