The Furnish and Equip our New School Fund
Year 8 were Challenged to Raise Money
Frances Stickley the Chair of Governors set a challenge for the Year 8 students in December. She
gave each child in the year group a £1 coin and asked them to see if they could turn it into £10 by
the 12th January! She offered them suggestions about how to be enterprising and find ways of
making their pound work and increase in value.
Almost two thirds of the year group took up the challenge and many of those students have been
extremely successful. A total of just over £900 profit has been made! The top fund raisers were
Holli Pandit and Alexander Webb of 8C who raised £98 and £81.50 respectively. Congratulations to
them and others like Lucy Packman, Zack Levy, Anton Loeber La’Grue, Kayleigh Sturtivant,
Joe Le’Vin and Grace Prichard who each raised £30 or more.
The Year 8 students achieved their large profit through a wide range of activities including car
washing, dog walking, shoe polishing, cake and cookie making and selling. As well as raffles being
held, Miss Yum’s cupcakes sold and Holli held a Harp Recital that attracted an audience of more
than 30 people!
Well done and thank you to the budding entrepreneurs of the future!
