After studying mathematics and economics at the Universities of Bonn, Cambridge and Berkeley, he received his doctorate in economics with a thesis on „Financial Innovation from a General Equilibrium Perspective.“ Professor Bettzüge worked as a researcher at the Universities of Bonn and Zurich, and also as a management consultant with internationally renowned consulting firms. Prior to his appointment to the University of Cologne, he held the position of partner and Vice President with the strategy consultancy Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Claas F. Hülsen Head of Department Market & Policy Development, DNV GL-Energy Claas F. Hülsen has joined DNV GL in 2005, where he primarily works in the fields of Management and Business Consulting especially regarding market rules and processes, and corporate strategy. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Hamburg and has about 15 years of extensive experience in the energy sector. In this role with DNV GL and in his previous experience in the consulting industry he was responsible for a large number of different customers in the energy market varying from governmental institutions, associations to various international energy companies. He is Manager of the Bonn office of DNV GL. Stefan Göbel Head of Trading & Origination, Statkraft Markets GmbH Stefan-Jörg Göbel is the Head of Trading & Origination for Statkraft in Continental Europe. Thus he is responsible for all wholesale activities in power and fuels. He is a Managing Director of Statkraft Markets GmbH, the group`s central trading entity for Continental Europe. His responsibility comprises proprietary and customer trading, cross-border arbitrage from the UK to Turkey and from Poland to Spain, trading services, complex cross-commodity off-take and purchase agreements and market access services for renewables. He also oversees the German communication and public affairs activities. 3 Dieter Hirdes Special Advisor, NCE Smart Energy Markets Dieter Hirdes is an ICT specialist with 25 years of experience in project management and system development of ICT systems for the energy sector. He is a co-founder of the NCE Smart Energy Markets cluster and served as Project Manager in its first years. From 2003 to 2011, he was CEO of Smart Innovation Østfold, now serving as R&D coordinator of the company with a track record of 18 and more SmartGrid related R&D projects totaling Euro 32 million in project revenues. Currently, Dieter Hirdes is the coordinator of the Horizon 2020 project EMPOWER. Christian Thiel CEO, EnergyNest AS Christian Thiel is a Chief Executive with focus on bringing new technologies from idea to installation. His primary experience comprises the energy and energy-related technology sector – ranging from e-mobility over renewable energies to energy storage. Christian joined EnergyNest in 2014 and has previously been working for BMW Group, UBS Investment Bank, McKinsey as well as SENVION. Christian holds a PhD in Economics, a Diploma in Business Administration as well as a B.A. in European Business. Christopher Koch Portfolio Management CWE, Markedskraft Deutschland GmbH Christopher Koch is working for the continental portfolio management team of Markedskraft. His main tasks include the analysis and assessment of trading strategies and the evaluation of fundamental forecasts. He also concentrates on price forecasting for the EPEX SPOT intraday market. Additionally he is involved in product development for the short-term markets and jointly responsible for Markedskraft’s association work. Besides his operations at the central western European energy markets, he also gained experience in projects at the Spanish short-term markets. 4 Transformative Forces in the Energy Market 2015 Line Riise Jensen Director Corporate Sales, ECOHZ AS ECOHZ is a leading international specialist and provider of global renewable energy solutions to large enterprises and electricity suppliers. Line Riise Jensen has broad international experience through various positions in sales, business development and project management within the telecom sector for more than ten years before joining ECOHZ and the renewable energy sector in 2008. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Norway, in addition to university studies abroad. Ranngveig Sofie Stangeland VP Governmental, Regulatory and Management Affairs, Marketing & Trading, Statoil ASA Rannveig S. Stangeland holds a master degree from London School of Economics (LSE) and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oslo and Amsterdam. Her responsibilities cover energy policy- and regulatory issues relating to Statoil’s downstream business and relations with Petoro which handles the Norwegian state’s direct financial interests (SDFI) linked to Statoil’s marketing activities. Since joining Statoil in 1996 she has held a variety of positions including responsibilities within communication both upstream and downstream, part of Statoil’s IPO project, VP communication for natural gas, head of natural gas strategy etc. She currently serves as chair of the Norwegian Gas Association. Øyvind Stakkland Director, Agder Energi AS Øyvind Stakkeland holds a Master of Science degree from the Norwegian University of Technology and Science (NTNU) in Trondheim. Since he graduated in 1988 he has been working in consultancy and in the industry. In 1998 he started in the renewable energy business at the utility company Agder Energi. At Agder Energi Øyvind Stakkeland had different positions within business development, including wind and interconnector projects, and within regulatory work and strategy development. 5 Ingard Moen Senior Vice President – Grid Planning and Analysis, Statnett SF Ingard Moen has been with Statnett since 2010. He began his career in the electricity industry in 1999 as Senior Market Analyst at Electrabel Nordic (Oslo). He moved to Brussels in 2005 and worked as Senior Energy Market Analyst and Head of Market analysis at Electrabel Trading & Portfolio Management. In 2008 he returned to Oslo to become Senior Energy Market Analyst – Nordic Region at EDF Trading. In Statnett he has been involved in developing the German and UK interconnector projects. Currently he is heading Statnett`s grid planning and analysis section. Jørgen Festervoll Partner ADAPT Consulting AS Jørgen Festervoll is a partner at ADAPT, a consulting firm specializing in energy and climate related issues. As a trusted advisor for a range of Norwegian and international clients, he has provided advise on issues ranging from strategy and business development to M&A, due diligence processes and PPA negotiations as well as regulatory issues and market design. He has been lead consultant on several CCGT projects including CCS studies. He is also an expert on energy efficiency, smart grid, DM and distributed production.
