GUIDED TOUR AT RÖDBERGSFORTET
A PART OF BODEN FORTRESS
Take a step into the military history and one of Sweden most lavish military secrets of all
time. It was the final fort that was taken out of service 1998. All equipment and furnishings
remain, showing how the fort was used in everyday life and how it was meant to serve
in combat. Boden’s Fortress includes five fort interspersed in the mountains, located in a
ring around the city during the early 1900s. This is the only “girdle fortress” in Sweden.
The unique defence construction is now a national monument. The fort opens up for prebooked groups during winter.

DEFENCE MUSEUM
Offer a journey into Swedish defense history from the late 1800s until today. Travel through
time in war and peace. The museum highlights the history among vehicles, cannons and
an extensive collection of uniforms, and offering temporary exhibitions and lectures.
Försvarsmuseum is a modern museum with interactive exhibits and caters to both young
and old - simply to anyone who wants to have greater knowledge about the experiences
that characterized the Swedish defense history. Climb into one of the tanks. Manage the
controls of the helicopter and “fly” away. There is also a café and a nice museum shop with
souvenirs and historic literature.

HAVREMAGASINET
The Oat Warehouse is one of the largest art galleries in Sweden and shows exhibitions
of contemporary art that deals with current international themes. During winter Nov 8 to
Jan 11 the gallery shows the exhibition Gender Heart by the artist-run Gallery Sister in
Luleå. The artists in Gender Heart explore gender norms, identity, culture, religion, gender,
and human relations. During Feb 7 to Apr 19, the exhibition Brännpunkt Barents (Focal
Point Barents) shows at Havremagasinet. Here they have brought together artists from
the Barents region dealing with issues affecting the region they live and work in. Visiting
this cultural building is a total experience. Café is available for those who are craving for
something sweet.

STORKLINTEN
A ski area with five lifts, one of which is for the little children, thirteen slopes and cross
country trails at about 10 km. This makes Storklinten to the county’s largest ski hill outside

PAGLA
In Pagla you will find several cross-country skiing tracks. The area has always been a
popular destination for those who want to spend a few hours in the nature.
In Pagla’s demanding mountain terrain, many skiers, both elite skiers, soldiers and Sunday
skiers have fought their fight against the mountain sides and the law of gravity. In Pagla
there are also two smaller slopes for downhill skiing.
