SCHEDULE of MASSES
on Sunday
“ And he will separate them
one from the other, as a shepherd separates the sheep from
the goats.”
8am, 10am and 12pm
Saturday, November 22
Certainly the image offered in today’s Gospel indicates that it is not
everyone who gets into the kingdom...at least not right
away! The scripture distinctly describes a segregation
of the good and the evil.
It is important for us to understand that we become
what we’ve done. Our worthiness is dependent on being faithful to the demands of the Gospel and the formation of our lives in accord with the laws of God. Unfortunately in our time, it seems some people have the
opinion that you can do what you like and still enter
the kingdom. They think there are no consequences to
their lack of faith and faith practice. How sadly selfdeceived the scripture says they are.
How can what you choose to do in life not affect who
you are? How can the evil practices we expose ourselves to, not affect the kind of person we become?
Repeatedly ignoring the commandments of God creates an environment of complacency and selfindulgence which makes us insensitive to others and
the effects of our actions on them. We can very easily
become monsters!
We are called to faithfulness. We are asked to be a
good example to the young. We are supposed to provide good example for others to follow. We are to use
our gifts to better the world. We are supposed to
serve as God’s instruments. If we fail in all these regards, then what is it about ourselves that we would
think worthy of an appearance before the author of
our life? What reward is given to those who never
struggle to do God’s will?
Remember that the very desire to please God is pleasing to Him. We don’t have to be perfect, but we at
least have to try our best.

The sacrificial giving of our parishioners on the weekend of
November 15 and 16 was $14,473. This includes $2,603
contributed via Faith Direct by 110 parishioners, and
$11,344 in envelopes and/or checks from 371 parishioners.
The average of these donations was $29.00. The collection
also included $526 in cash.
Sunday and Holy Day collections for the current fiscal year
have decreased compared to the same period last year.
Through November 9 these collections were $235,031
compared to $242,682 last year. That’s a drop of $7,651.
We invite parishioners to please increase their weekly collections. Without achieving an increase in annual revenue,
the Parish will continue to operate at a deficit.

UNACCOMPANIED MIGRANT CHILDREN
HUMAN CONCERNS
Children who are fleeing violence and seeking safety
should be given due process under the law and provided the necessary screenings to ensure that they
will be given the help necessary to ensure their wellbeing. A recent webinar that focuses on Unaccompanied Migrant Children and conducted by the
Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services, and the United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops is available for viewing at www.cliniclegal.org/resources. This webinar discusses why unaccompanied children are coming to
the United States, where they are staying, what services the Church is providing, and how you can help.
Panelists include experts on the root causes of migration from Central America and the emergency, social,
and legal services available to these minor children.

The St. John’s Human Concerns Committee is diligently
working to assist families who have come on bad times
and are in need. Christmas is an especially difficult time
for these families. Human concerns will be setting up the
Christmas Giving Tree on November 22 at all entrances
of the church. There will be suggested
items for giving on the trees. Please
return your gifts to the Parish Center
by December 14. We are most hopeful that our parishioners will once
again, be generous and participate in
this ministry.
We thank you in advance for your kindness and
generosity.
A NEW MINISTRY FOR MASSES—GREETERS

hope this will enhance your Advent experience going
through the 4 weeks of the season, as we wait,
prepare, recognize and then behold the Lamb of God,
