Hva gjorde vi:
Mål:
The goal of the samling was to show the players how to analyize themselves after a
tournament round and put in place a good practice environment that would support
the analyses and show them a way to improve play on the course.
Also the players was given good ideas on time management versus improvement.
Erfaringer - Hva var bra?
- Hva kan bli bedre?
Coach Feedback:
It was great to be at Atlungstad GK. Many thanks to all the staff that helped make this
samling successful. The volunteers, club staff, catering team and junior leaders all helped us
far more than expected. The weather was great and we had access to all practice facilities,
golf course, driving range, short game area and meeting rooms.
Out of 15 members of the 13 år – 15 år group only 8 attended the samling. With this in mind
we made the samling as simple and affective as possible.
We started with a junior tour event to kick off the samling. Moving forward i think we
should look at hosting more samlings around tournaments of all levels. This is because i feel
we can really give the kids sosmething valuable to take away from the events. We can help
show them how to PLAYGOLF better by observing them on the course and hhosting events
that are planned around play on the course.
Ronny Engen and Jørn Brynildsen was outstanding as ever and these guys really help me run
these events well. Many thanks to you guys!!
Golfing Activity
After watching the players play the tournament round we went to the meeting
room and discussed how to look at the way you played and improve on aspects
that could be better.
The players had to write down :
• What did you do well
• What 3 aspects of your game do you need to improve?
• What 3 aspects of your game do you need to improve?
The players was then given time to go and work on those apsects.
After dinner we played a texas scramble competition.
The following day we discussed players having the summer to practice and
what is the best way to spend the summer days to practice.
We practiced Green reading skills, How to practice properly, How to use time
effectively around the short game and the driving range. The main goal was to
get the players to practice as close to the game as possible and play golf every
day if possible. To look at your game more honestly and practice those areas
more effectively and understanding the importance to play MORE golf!!
After Lunch the players was given one task personally to focus on whilst
playing golf. The goal was to see if they could stick to one focus point for 9
holes……As well as filling in a stats card.
The task was different for each player and examples of this is as follows:
• Do 2 jumping jacks before you hit each shot
• Sing your favourite song between each shot
• Play 9 holes with the body language of Rory Mcilroy
• Decide on the best club to hit and then choose something different
•
As well as doing this they all had to keep stats on a card that provided basic
info such as:
• Fairway hit
• Green hit
• How many putts
• Did you up and down
Physical Activity.
This was just the four activities
• 60m Sprint
• Press-Ups
• Longest Throw
The physical tests gave the players a clear indication towards basic physical skills.. I am
convinced they will know what they have to do to be better in this area.
Mental Activity:
Tasks on the course such as
• Making a hole strategy
• Making strong decisions
• Commitment
• Listen to Self-Talk
• Learning to use a notebook
Looking forward to seeing a full SSC qualification. Have a great summer and PRACTICE
SMART!!!!
SMART!!!!
