Productivity and accountability will be increased by having six DPW departments reporting directly to the Mayor-­‐President’s Office to speed decision-­‐making and eliminate backlogs.

The new streamlined DPW will include departments managing the following areas: Environmental Services; Transportation and Drainage; Maintenance; Buildings and Grounds; Fleet Management and Development.

The Imperative for Change
• 30% of current allotted DPW positions are vacant (hard work
with low pay); 25% of DPW staff can retire within 7 years
• Pencil and paper organization
• Lack of accountability and absence of performance measures
• Insufficient bench strength at top and middle management
levels; shortage of certified staff (engineers, technicians)
• Skills gap between new technologies and current workforce
• Unprepared for the future (protect investments made via Green
Light and SSO programs)
