The Photography Salon Society of Macao with the aim of promoting the art and technique of photography cordially invites you and photographers all over the world to
participate in the 19th P.S.S.M. International Exhibition of Photography Macao (2014). The exhibition will take place in the Exhibition Gallery of "The Venetian Resorts Macao”
from 22nd to 30th November 2014.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1.
International Exhibition of Photography: The exhibition is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes
the entry does not conform to the exhibition rules and conditions. There are no restrictions as to subject matter except as outlined in the rules and definitions of specific sections, or specified by law
in the country where the exhibition is held.
2.
Divisions: The exhibition includes four divisions: a.) Monochrome Digital Images; b.) Color Digital Images; c.) Photo Travel Digital Images; d.) Natural Digital Images. Entry forms for each division
should be filled separately.
3.
Exhibition Standards: This exhibition is held in conformity with the exhibition standards and regulations of the Photography Society of America (PSA), the International Federation of Photographic
Art (FIAP) and The Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA). The acceptances will be sent to PSA for "Who's Who" listing and Star Ratings; and to FIAP for counting towards FIAP
distinctions. All entries shall conform to the stricter of these definitions for acceptances to be validated by all the International Organizations granting recognition or patronage. Acceptance Certificate
will be issued and report cards are sent via airmail.

PSA Monochrome Definition: A monochrome image is defined as having varying shades of no more than one color (various shades of that color from very light to very dark) but it may be any
single color. Multi-toned images (various shades of two or more colors) and greyscale images with added an accent color are not acceptable in Monochrome Class sections and must be entered in
Color Class sections.
5.
PSA Nature Definition: Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archeology, in such a fashion that
a well-informed person will be able to identify the subject material and certify its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while
maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except where those human elements are integral parts of the nature story such as nature subjects, like barn owls or storks,
adapted to an environment modified by humans, or where those human elements are in situations depicting natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves. Scientific bands, scientific tags or radio
collars on wild animals are permissible. Photographs of human created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens are ineligible, as is any form of
manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement.
No techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature
story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted including HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning. Stitched images are not permitted. All allowed
adjustments must appear natural. Color images can be converted to greyscale monochrome. Infrared images, either direct-captures or derivations, are not allowed.
6.
PSA Photo Travel Definition: image must express the feeling of a time and place and portray a land, its distinctive features or culture in its natural state. There are no geographical limitations.
Close up pictures of people or objects must include distinguishable environment. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not
permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Conversion to full monochrome is acceptable. Derivations, including infrared, are unacceptable.

FIAP Monochrome Photography Definition: A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey. A
black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category. On the other hand a black and white work modified by a partial
toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the color category.

FIAP Nature Photography Definition: Nature photography depicts living, untamed animals and uncultivated plants in a natural habitat, geology and the wide diversity of natural phenomena, from
insects to icebergs. Photographs of animals which are domesticated, caged or under any form of restraint, as well as photographs of cultivated plants are ineligible. Minimal evidence of humans is
acceptable for nature subjects, such as barn owls or storks, adapting to an environment modified by humans, or natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves, reclaiming it. The original image must
have been taken by the photographer, whatever photographic medium is used. Any manipulation or modification to the original image is limited to minor retouching of blemishes and must not alter
the content of the original scene. After satisfying the above requirements, every effort should be made to use the highest level of artistic skill in all nature photographs.
9.
Entries: A maximum of 4 works for each division can be submitted by each entrant. Works submitted and awarded in any of our previous exhibition would not be accepted. Works not in conformity
with the regulation will not be considered by the judging committee and related fees are not subject to refund. The rate of acceptance for each division should be between 25% and 45% of the
images entered. All four works will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging and their decisions are final and without appeal. Each image must have a unique title. Once an image has been
accepted in a PSA Recognized exhibition, that same image, or a like “in camera” or a “reproduction” duplicate of that image:
i. May not be re-entered in any section of the same Division Star Ratings class in that exhibition regardless of media, format, or title.
ii. May not be re-titled for entry in any other PSA Recognized exhibition.
Words such as “Untitled” and “No Title” are not acceptable as part or all of an image’s title, nor are camera capture filenames or titles consisting of only numbers. All entrants in must provide name
and country data exactly the same in each exhibition entered to receive proper credit. Submission of entries signifies acceptance of the conditions of entry of the exhibition. Should there be any
discrepancy between the Chinese and English version, the English version shall prevail.

Exhibition Catalogue: Each entrant who had paid the entry fees whether qualified or not will receive one copy of printed catalogue. Additional copy of catalogue could be ordered by sending in a
surface mail fee at the unit price listed in the table above.

Works Specification:
a) The maximum and minimum size of image, vertical and horizontal, should not exceed 1024 pixels in width and 768 pixels in height, and less than 500 pixels in width and 500 pixels in height
respectively, saved at 300dpi, sRGB color, JPEG format and file size not more than 2 MB. Images will not be compressed or rotated by the Exhibition. Images not in conformity with the
maximum size will be displayed against a black background. Images will be displayed by projector with image resolution 1024 X 768 in jpeg format for all judges to view at the same time and at
a single location for judging.
b) The organizer will notify the author of a qualified work to present a 5MB JPEG file for catalogue printing. The work will not be printed should the author fail to comply.
13.
Submission of Works:
a) Image can be uploaded at website http://www.pssm.org.mo
b) Image can submitted by e-mail to: [email protected]
c) Image can be stored in on CD-ROM and sent by post to the Salon Chairman. Entrant's name and country should be clearly stated in the CD-ROM. The organizer will not be responsible for any
damage caused in transit, or errors in reading the images by computer. Submitted CD-ROM and image will not be returned.

Naming Convention: The file name coding will be on 8 characters maximum, in 3 groups:

The first group will include the country ISO code in 2 characters (list available on www.fiap.net ).
The second group will include the author's name truncated to five characters (smith or jsmit for John Smith).
The third group will be a sequential number for the photos, 1 to 4.
Only figures and letters, and eventually the dash (-) are authorized. The letters will be lower-case.
The organizers will be authorized to modify the name coding in case of homonymy.

The FIAP Blue Badge will be awarded to the best exhibition author who has achieved the highest number of total acceptances of all four divisions.
Hon. E. PSSM -
The organizer awards a title of Hon. E. PSSM (Honorary Exhibitor of the Photography Exhibition Society of Macao) together with a certificate of merit to the successful entrants with THREE or
more acceptances in 3 consecutive exhibitions in the same division of the PSSM International Exhibition, beginning from the 1st (1982) exhibition, and thereby accredit the exhibitor to enjoy
permanent gratis in subsequent PSSM Exhibition. For overseas Honorary Exhibitors, return postage of USD 8 or HKD 50 or RMB 50 (Subject to adjustment in future exhibition) for each
division should be submitted. To apply for the above title, please fill in the related application form (downloadable from www.pssm.org.mo) and send it to the Exhibition Chairman.
NOTE:
In consideration of the title of divisions have been revised, All results acquired in Color and Monochrome Prints Division in the past 2 exhibitions (namely 2010 and 2012) will be
accepted in application of the Hon. E. PSSM Color and Monochrome Digital Projected Images Division respectively.
Responsibilities and Rights: Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of
submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his own (aliases are not permitted). The entrant permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for
publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This may include low resolution posting on a website.
Note: Entrants who indicate that their images may not be reproduced or used “will not be eligible for awards” or inclusion in audio-visuals of the exhibition “and could be subject to disqualification” by
the exhibition sponsors. The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. Images may be altered, either electronically or otherwise, by the maker. Artwork or computer graphics created
by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates subject to divisional restrictions.
