PSR NEWS
Thanksgiving!
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because if you
turn it around it would look like this: Giving
thanks. I look at my wife and I say thank you
Lord. I could not have picked out a better one. I
look at my children, their husband and wives, my
grandchildren, and yes even great grandchildren.
Lord, you always give the best, and I give you
thanks. I am where I am today because of your
wonderful gift of life. I give thanks for all the
wonderful people you have put into my path as I
walk my journey here on this beautiful earth,
especially my parents, my brothers and, my
sisters. I give thanks that you have provided for me
through my life and you continue to provide as I
come ever so close to my journey’s end (no, I am
not sick or dying). I give thanks for my beautiful
faith, my ministry. I give thanks for all those who
have touched me with their lives that makes my
journey easier. I give thanks for allowing me to be
born in this country. Most of all Lord God, I thank
You for the wonderful gift of Your loving Son. He
is what makes all things for me possible. Without
Him, I am nothing. This Thanksgiving, I am giving
thanks.
Think about it. D.J.
There will be no PSR classes on Wednesday,

Holy Child School News
Recap of Week 13
Confirmation preparation for our 8th graders is in full swing.
On Tuesday, November 18th (very busy day,) our children
were directed towards a deeper understanding of the sanctity
of human life from conception to natural death during their
‘Right Start’ presentations. Our kitchen staff treated our
children to a delicious Thanksgiving feast complete with all
the trimmings on Tuesday afternoon. Thank you to our
SACRIFICE? There is a difference
between giving and sacrificing.
WHY
We may be good at giving.
We may even give generously.
Yet, do we know how to sacrifice?
This year we have a poor economy. Still we
are seeing tremendous needs both at our
parish and elsewhere. We are called to sacrifice like we may have never have been
before. We are called to give in many
ways.
CAN
WE SACRIFICE? Some among us may
be facing new and overwhelming financial
challenges. Others among us continue to
be blessed with dependable employment,
secure assets and the ability to be generous. Yet, God asks ALL of us to sacrifice in
some way.
We must ask ourselves:
Has God continued to bless me during this
year of financial toil? Maybe I can give
more.
Have I placed my TRUST in God, as I struggle with new financial realities?
Am I willing to make a sacrifice out of love
for Jesus, no matter what my situation
might be?
We only serve when we sacrifice.
Hearts on Fire

homemade or store bought desserts. Please
come and enjoy fellowship if ages 20-35. Children are
welcome to attend if you have a family. If you have

talented cooks and all of the volunteers who assisted in this
seasonal tradition at Holy Child. Our Marketing Committee
met on Tuesday evening. We are planning to roll out an
official Holy Child Facebook page very soon. This will give
us a much-needed social media footprint to assist our
marketing efforts. The Home and School Association met on
Thursday, November 20th. At the meeting we discussed our
academic strengths and growth areas as indicated on our Iowa
standardized test scores. I am confident that our school is
headed for even greater things in the near future.
Blood Drive
Jeremy, an eighth grade student at Holy Child, is hosting a
blood drive for his Confirmation service project. The blood
drive will be held this Sunday, November 23rd from 9am to
1pm. It will occur in Immaculate Conception’s gymnasium.
The class at Holy Child School who recruits the most blood
donors will win a pizza party provided by The Red Cross.
To schedule an appointment to donate blood you can fill out
the Future Blood Donor form sent home or you can call
Tracy @ 314-972-3521.
