Organizers: Docomomo Hong Kong Chapter Antiquities and Monuments Office, Leisure and Cultural Services Department Program Objectives: 1) Promote public interest in the heritage of Modern Movement Architecture of Hong Kong. 2) Understand the ideas and designs of representative architectures of Hong Kong from 1900s to 1970s, and their respective historic / social development background. 3) Establish a basis for long-term interactive dialogue between public and academics / professionals in the field of architectural history of Hong Kong. 4) Illustrate the historic contribution of architecture of Hong Kong in the Modern Movement and thereby establish the unique position of Hong Kong within modern development of China and Asia. 5) Explore approaches in conservation and adaptive re-use of modern architecture in response to the cultural heritage values of Hong Kong.
