Wine and dine
Oslo embraces the use of local ingredients such
as fish and seafood. If you visit Oslo we
recommend that you also try other Norwegian
delicacies such as mutton, elk and reindeer served
in various ways. The popular restaurant area,
Aker Brygge and Tjuvholmen has outdoor seating
for over 2,500 people, and is teeming with activity
24 hours a day, particularly in the summer.
Oslo has just opened its first specialised food
market in an old industrial area
called Vulkan, situated next
to the city’s historical and
beautiful river, Akerselva.

Sightseeing
The best way to explore Oslo’s attractions and learning
about the city is by a guided bus- or boat tour.
Tours are available all year round. Most of the city’s
many attractions are located within walking distance of
each other in the compact city centre, while the famous
museums on the Bygdøy peninsula are easily reached
by public transportation. Tjuvholmen is the newest of
Oslo’s districts. The area is characterized by an
intriguing architectural diversity and unique outdoor
areas, and plays host to several galleries and art
installations. One of them is the new Astrup Fearnley
Museum for contemporary art. This iconic museum
is among other buildings, representing the massive
change Oslo is going through.
