GULLION Loreda Maxine Meadows Gullion, August 6,
1925-July 14, 2009, after a courageous battle with
Alzheimer's, Loreda passed away peacefully at home
with her husband at her side. Loreda was born and
raised in Huntington, West Virginia and graduated from
high school in Huntington in 1943. She attended
business school after graduation for training as a key
punch operator; she also received training and worked as
a painter for Rainbow Glassware. Loreda worked for the
Veterans Administration in West Virginia and later
transferred to Jacksonville, Florida with the VA. She
was working at Jax Naval Air Station in Jacksonville
when she met her husband. After marrying she gave up
her career to become a fulltime homemaker, raising four
children. She lived in Jacksonville until 1975 when the
family moved to Bradford County. Loreda was the only
child born to the late Forrest and Effie Meadows and
was the beloved wife of Clarence Gullion for over 51
years. Loreda will forever be remembered by her
children Denise Orsborn of Bradenton, Florida, Forrest
Gullion of Hampton, FL, Gerald Gullion of Batavia,
Ohio and Michelle Howe of Wake Forest, North
Carolina. She had 4 grandchildren Andrew, Sarah,
Mark, and Kaidi. Loreda loved being a mother and wife;
she enjoyed gardening and grew the most beautiful
flowers. After her husband's retirement they traveled
throughout central and western United States. Loreda
touched the lives of many people with her smile and
gentle spirit. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Starke, Florida. Friends and family are invited
to attend a funeral service on July 16, 2009 at 11am at
Archie Tanner Funeral Services. The family will receive
friends one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests all donations be sent to the tireless
people who gave such wonderful care for Loreda in her
time of need at Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care,
5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 941-923-5822.
